  • Wonder how to get there. Would be really interesting to spend some time there!

  • I'll be there in 3 Weeks! Can't wait :)

  • @beipawel did you go to the village?

  • @w0sXs0w Yeah! I've been there in august. Enjoyed it a lot. I was in 陈照森 功夫 School. Very good Teacher and he's really there, not like Chenxiaowang and some others.

  • that guy on 1:57 came out on jet li's tai chi master

  • @9kiko90 his name is chen ziqiang son of chen xiaong and nephew of chen xiaowang

  • that guy on 1:57 came out on tai chi master

  • This style tires you the fook out, so supremely violent, Tai Chi Chuan is wonderful. As you get more internal training it's not tiring I should point out.

  • PARADISE ON EARTH

    WOW...

  • I second cheaptrades. I loved the video about the female Buddhist.

  • Is there a link to purchase the DVD?

  • TAIJI

  • love and creativity gives you a higher state of energy

    not only thai chi

  • Great work, I really enjoyed these small tid bits of knowledge. Please keep doing what you do... A fan

  • your videos are great. u cant stop....

  • @danshaw1967 no it doesn't I've been studying Taoism for several years now...it doesn't advocate anything you stiff, fragmented little individual....it is a way for a person to become one with the Universal way....anyway why am I even bothering....think what you want I'm finished

  • @danshaw1967 Fine, then I call your comment what it is, ignorance.

  • @danshaw1967 Taoism doesn't require worship or bowing because Taoism doesn't have an "idol" or "god" to which to bow to...Tao is the way of the Universe...Tao just is...not quite sure why they were bowing...perhaps to show respect or it could be a cultural thing within their village or "religion"....bowing doesn't necessarily mean worship...it is also a sign or respect and tradition...I do agree with you however idolizing anything and giving more meaning than it really has is foolish....

  • @danshaw1967 its not worship only a sign of respect.

  • Great video.

  • Thank You very much:)

  • Chenjiagou (Chen Village) is in central China about 60 miles west of Zhengzhou in Henan province. You can fly direct or take an overnight train from Beijing to the main city of Zhengzhou and then you need a taxi cab to take you to Chen Village or Wexian, the nearest main town. The taxi will cost about $60 one way.

Avoid December through to March as it can get very cold and lots of snow. The Autumn and Spring are very nice. Empty Mind Films

  • @emptymindfilms One can live there, too, if one pleases?

  • plse tell me which province in China is Chen Village located? and the best possible way to get there? and also which month is most suitable in terms of weather etc., thanks!

  • III WISHHH III COULD BUY THIS CLOTHES AT 2:04

    ANYONE PLEASE ?

  • @danshaw1967 True, but it's the mindset. You essentially emulate everything the teacher wants you to do whether it's washing clothes, being Taoist or whatnot until you mastered it. Otherwise, you'd start questioning everything and pretty soon you'll stray. After you've mastered their interpretation/lifestyle, they even encourage you to have your own interpretation to the style. That's the beauty of traditional arts.

  • this is my kind of vision for my life. I wish to live there one day...

  • Beautiful

  • @TheMartialartsJedi yeah u are right! i´ll look into it, thanks!

  • HAIIII-YAHHHHHHH

  • now it's only a stupid touristic place !!

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • I agree with you cheaptrades ;]

  • I agree with you cheaptrades

  • There is a serious concern in a newpaper stating that the art of Taiji is going to be lost because real tai chi is not being seen anymore.

Hope all tai chi fans spend more time in study and practice, research and prove the tai chi kong-fu.

Wish you all have this in mind.

And do remember that tai chi can not be learned without a good master. and Tai chi can not be learned if you do not have Chinese traditional culture embeded in your mind.

Build up the foundation and be patient.

    Good luck

  • @taijimessenger

The "art of Taiji" is already incorporated in MMA. Just watch how some of those fighters move and you will recognise Taiji Quan principles. Furthermore if you watch MMA instructional videos you will see they teach all Taiji Quan principles - beginning with how to cultivate energy for the fight and ending with specific recipes for uninterrupted flow of motion and force and sensing the intentions of the opponent.

Some Russian militaries demonstrate remote body control as well.(?!)

  • thats a little village? O_O lol

  • @Kniitte By China's standards I'd bet.

  • Does anyone know the name of the name of the guy at 3.30? He was a senior student of Master Chu's when he taught in London near Euston and then at Latymer Road between 1980 and 1985? Thanks.

  • Oops, meant 2.50...

  • I thought "Flagging" meant the opposite of what it evidently does!...sorry!!!...I wish YouTube gave one a way to cancel an action...???...this video is not only great but worth sharing w/ all!!!...

  • Where can i buy this movie?

  • click on the emptymindfilms website to the right of the video. you can order it there. i have it myself. it's great!

    ali

  • 3000 people live in chen village. 2500 practice chen style Tai Chi. The other 500 use a machine gun:)

  • omg that totally cracked me up!

  • haha

  • "In essence martial arts are for destruction"

To me that seems quite wrong. Or to be more precise: If you mean destruction of destrucion maybe you're right. Look at Aikido. Even Muay-Thai can be used for protective and creative purposes as well.

    "It is all about money."

    ...?!

  • Yeah he's a materialistic idiot i guess. I have no clue where he got that garbage from. I agree with you. He should also look at it this way. What if you're out of the resources you need and no one around to help you. You have your training. Some people just dont get it.

  • tai chi a progress of relationship with mind and body... its feels to work a persuasion and focus.... which in turn can be made into dance of energy and giving love

  • Martial arts were created for fighting; preservation of one's own life in war.

  • and mind

  • I understand what you're meaning to infer... sort of like people paying gurus who's secret doctine to sucess it getting people to pay them money, if they'd just listen to what the guru "actually" says, (even for a moment) they'd leave immediately.

As far as Masow goes, taiji is a concept... like physics. Apples and orages.

Taijiquan is unique becasue it's the martial art that saves your breath, that's the primary difference.

FYI Taijiquan is no more it's form than karate is it's kata.

  • @syphen888 - Karate IS its Kata! That's what makes it so wonderful. Chen Style is its Forms... they are awesome arts.

  • @Koryuhoka Thanks for your thoughts! To be short, Kata is only a part of Karate. Kihon and Kumite are also essential parts of what make Karate. Similarly Taijiquan has lu, tui shou, and san shou. Forms alone do not constitute the "art". People may perfect a form completely yet, not have the art. They lack those qualities which truly define the practice as an art. So forms are certainly a "part" of the art, but they are not the whole. That is the basis of my analogy and opinions.

    Respectfully

  • @syphen888

and the way I learned - kata is total kumite. It contains all the techniques, concepts and principles that make up the art as a whole. Kihon is taken from kata. And Kata is Kumite/Kumite is Kata. This is Koryu Karate... Karatejutsu - as opposed to karatedo. In Koryu Arts, the Applications are practiced as Kumite.

    re-respectfully! :)

  • @Koryuhoka I enjoy your comments! Kumite is the inspired ability to arrange technique according to a situation; Kata is pre-arranged. Two different mind sets. Kihon is needed to learn Kata well, but Kihon isn't Kata. It compliments Kata. Similarly, Kata compliments Kumite. In my thoughts, Basics, Form, and Free-form are what constitute the art of karate. Individually, they are just aspects of karate, not the "art". If I have mastered kata, have I mastered Karate? I propose, I have not.

    Respect

  • : ) Some folks are designed for destruction. Your able to gather resources only because there are those willing to do violence against those that would rip your life and resources away.

  • @gespilk said as someone with no understanding of what martial arts means would say. You may consider actually reading into the thinking behind the arts and leave your jaded misconceptions behind. I train in Shaolin Kung Fu and I have myself spent three years training Yang Tai Chi Chuan, My martial arts training taught me more about respect for life than anything else I've experienced.

I hope you find the truth you arent seeing. Live well.

  • @Bastion83

This is my understanding of martial arts:

MMA rules them all. It is the closest sport to the real fight (hand to hand combat).

In all my street fights I have used MMA without even knowing + all the spitting, pile driving, pinching, poking, smashing against hard surfaces, small joint manipulation, hair pulling, headbutt, attacks to groin and joints, attacks to the spine, etc.

If Tai Chi Quan is "about respect for life" then it should not be called "Martial".

  • @gespilk then your understanding is that of the supremely uneducated. Martial art is about many things including respect for life. Anyone who fights without respect for the harm they may need to cause to others to defend themselves is nothing but a brute, a fool and a dog unworthy of learning anything. That comes from my first instructor, a former Army Ranger quite used to 'true combat'. MMA is a sport with many illegal striking zones etc, and any good MMA fighter knows the difference. Sad.

  • @gespilk In short, if you ever plan to learn anything martial, you have much to learn. I hop you do, because that attitude....it doesnt speak well for you, and I get the feeling you are more simply uneducated in combat than you are ill mannered. Live well. As a final note, using MMA tactics in combat is not a hard thing, there isnt much true technique in typical MMA, its instictive fighting, little more. Martial art is about letting go of that and learning more efficent ways of combat.

  • Xie xie ni.

  • It is not a "family". Closely-knit community. commune... these are the words to use.

  • Listen to the sound of his voice when he says this.

If you can hear what he means beyond the words you wouldn't have such a picky semantic debate.

Chen village has been a family settlement since 500 AD it's the Chen family.

  • 2:02

I NEED one of those outfits. :)

    I love culture.

  • Desire is of the ego, are you sure?

It's the body inside the cloths that counts.

They use silk to make it feel fluid as if you were naked.

I have one of the traditional suits tailored in China for £80, an absolute bargain!
