  • who better to do a radiohead cover, fucking brilliant

  • I love how he shamelessly has no idea what the last line is:)

  • Why is it only coming out my left speaker!

I want John in full Stereo!

    x

  • i've heard to cover from radiohead (lucky and this) are there other covers ?

  • i love both Radiohead's and Jhon's music...hearing Jhon playing Radiohead is just truly amazing...

  • @mestayno john

  • He's got a little Phil Collins in his voice. Love it.

  • oh yes

and hes got syd barrett covers too

  • shit gave me chillis

  • What can I say..

  • Peppers forever :))

  • i like this cover cuz he kept it simple and made it like the original. didnt try to change anything. and he sang it the same way too.

  • Wow.....Radiohead is my favorite band, but Frusciante is my favorite guitarist.....this is just orgasm to my ears :D PS rhcp are my 2nd fav band!!!!!!

  • @binder673 same here for all that lol

    whats your third favorite? :o

  • @cw71017 Rage Against the Machine :D

  • @binder673 hahah awesome :)

mine is a split between modest mouse and warpaint tho, but i guess no one can get three in a row haha :P

  • I was just thinking the other day that this is a really great song to play on acoustic, and it would be a great song for john to cover ...Well what do you know...

440 of us are the Holy empire, and those 35 of you are the cronies

  • I love this.. it's just perfect.. John singing one of my favourite songs.. from my favourite band.. This just made my day :D

  • What could possibly be better than this combination, my 2nd favourite musician, my 3rd favourite band and one of their best songs. Brilliant.

  • @Widdowson1994 Your 1st favorite musician, your 1st favorite band, and one of their best songs would be a better combination...

  • Great song. Great cover. John frusciante is awesome as is thom yorke and the gang. simple as that. no need to shit talk.

  • Its "Ghost Horses" not "Gheww hrssejjzdvf" ... learn to enunciate , please. Thom , show him how its done, please. LOL

    But it wasn't terrible.

  • @HurtStrings u thom's mother?

  • good shit

  • I love this performer.

  • awesome song :)

  • Guys calm down, Frusciante's voice is amazing, but Anthony and Thom have these hauntingly charismatic vocals that send chills down your spine and strike you with a rush of adrenaline, I'm not saying Frusciante is a bad singer, just pointing out their different qualities.

    Radiohead <3

    Red Hot Chili Peppers <3

  • difficult to create, easy to play, the real genius is Thom yorke, sry

  • I want to see a collaboration between Frusciante and Thom Yorke.

  • @eNRGy27 oh man, I wish to see that, too.

    That would be absolutely magical!

  • very cool, good cover

  • Does anyone know what kind of strings he uses on his acoustic? Or at least what kind of strings give a similar tone

  • nice left speaker only sound

  • I always liked Frusciante solo more than I liked the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I find his solo stuff and even in his performances of covers like this, have so much more grit and heart.

But as one person here said earlier: John Frusciante=awesome, Radiohead=awesome, John Frusciante covering Radiohead=awesome giving awesome tribute to the awesome

  • Radiohead = Awesome

    John Frusciante = Awesome

John Frusciante covering Radiohead = Awesome

  • great song,great cover,even greater artists.

  • how can ppl not like this interpretation?

  • as a sincere artist , this fellow is right up there

  • bit fast I think. kinda rushed it a bit. his voice is fantastic though. hope his new album's just all radiohead covers:)

  • Brilliant cover! Amazing song

  • Holy Roooman Empiiiiyerrrrr

  • the in between hair!

  • FRUSCIANTE IS A FUCKING GENIUS

  • Its a Radiohead cover so he's not that much of a genius....

  • thanks for pointing that out. I'm sure john and no one else knew that. and if you knew his music, you would know that he is a genius. don't bother correcting my grammar you pretentious loser. it's not funny.

  • @figgles33 Oh sorry, didnt mean to be rude or anything i ment the song not John.

  • it sounds like he doesn't know the last line..

    ghost horses

actually, i just found out what it was today, and it's been my fav. song since 2001

  • Sounds pretty good to me =)

    Radiohead ftw

  • I don't know why, but for some reason, to me, that guitar looks really small. Either that or Frusciante is just a really big dude.

  • He's like 5'8".

  • haha its actually a smaller sized guitar to begin with.

  • Looks like a double or triple 0 martin guitar.. They are often used for finger picking.

  • 00-15 i think ;)

  • no. john only uses old guitars and the 00-15 fairly new. its definitely a martin 0-15 from the '50s most likely

  • John big??? go watch some of the old RHCP's videos when he had just joined the band....the skinny little kid jumping around with a kilt and a guitar is John.....

  • FUCKING IDIOTS THAT SCREAMS!!!shut the fuck up

  • this guy is the real deal... an awesome guitarist with unique style and now supplementing that with great singing

  • oh my god. I could listen to this for hours.

    beautiful.

  • you speak the troof..

  • this guy is my idol....i want to learn guitar ro play like him:(((

  • dull?

  • fuck you banana

  • Good point(.)

  • Common, it's not because you don't like RHCP and John Frusciante that they are playing like "shit". You have to right the not like them but there's a way of expressing it. ( I know I wasn't better with fuck you lol)

  • Nah dude, chili peppers are fucking amazing at what they do.

Just as experimental as Radiohead really.

Anthony Kiedis combines rap, funk, rock and countless other genres into his singing just as Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood bring together classical, ambient, and rock.

And Frusciante is without a doubt just as amazing of a guitar player as O'Brien and Jonny.

As Chad is just as good as Phil Selway.

I'm not bashing either band, I love them both quite alot.

  • Both are good bands, personally I think Radiohead are among the best in popular music history.

but I disagree that RHCP are as experimental. Sure they have a variety of influences, but all of their songs are, fundamentally, conventional. Kid A/Amnesiac both demonstrate the absolute opposite of convention.

  • I agree I would like to see rhcp be a little more progressive in their song structure and what not.

  • I agree, not really experimental. I didn't wanna say alternative since the term is so loosely used today.

  • isn't experimental music(say rock\metal) supposed to try playing the genre with all sorts of weird, unconventional instruments rather than unconventional structure\ composition?

cause the latter is more like progressive music.

  • amen to that iSabotage!

Together, hmm..I wonder what they'd sound like??..be interesting..:)

  • You may not like the RHCP.. much respect.

but their music is definitely not dull.

  • it's because of the emotion, that's why people like it, that's why i love it, u shouldn't knock things u don't fully understand, peppers are great, but it okay if you don't like them, but don't come over here and say that they're shit, that jus shows a callus disregard for people's feelings.. peace.. :)

  • "this is a NoizEwater film" AHAHA. More like a BlownOutFace film. Jesus, always expose for the face with something like this.

  • bahaha hes a better singer thatn keidis

  • youre a dick. lyrics dont always have to be super deep with hidden meanings. musics about being yourself, and if you know anything about frusciantes music youd figure that out. and keidis is a crazy guy and you can tell that his lyrics flow unrestrained, unlike a lot of the pretentious bullshit that dominates mainstream rock. keidis is the glue that holds 3 brilliant musicians together. and he also keeps the energy super high. hes like what mick jagger is for the stones

  • Wrong.

  • hmm?

  • id hav to say frusciante is the glue. in an interview, all the band members said that frusciante kinda inspires the lyric and music.

  • come on. that is not even a fair statement. They are both excellent in their own right, why does one have to be better. Listen to them live, I have heard him sing way out of key live, and also Keidis, but as a whole they are both incredible musicians and vocalist. Personally think it was kind of BS for him to leave. Like he sucked up some of their star power and rode the coattails so he could further his career.......don;t forget what got you there dude.

  • @WETtheband

the peppers became known world wide after frusciante joined them. his guitar playing, vocals, energy, etc. are part of what made their songs in the 90s/00s so popular. not to mention that he wrote a lot of the material in their more recent efforts. he wouldn't be here without them, and they wouldn't be here without him. he can leave whenever he wants. it's not like the peppers are in their prime or need more money.

  • @crtrpg yes, maybe. but not a better frontman on stage.

  • @crtrpg True.

  • True story. I don't even know who he is, but it doesn't sound too spectacular to me.

  • Any good if this wasn't an effin great song. Kudos for tackling it.

  • Wow. That really was brilliant.

John is one of the finest guitarists of our generation. And this is a great cover.

  • i really like it

  • am i the only one who can't hear anything...?!!

  • had that too but the sound is only coming from the right speaker, so fix that side and you will hear it =D

  • too fast

the meaning behind the song has a sort of unwritten rule to be played with a slow tempo

otherwise, john did an amazing cover of one of radioheads most amazing songs.

  • haha its cool to see frusciante likes radiohead, beacause i do like them both

  • i agree with you on everything except the last thing you said

  • Jonny Forever.

  • como me caberia ir a un recital de el por dios

  • I hate these RHCP fan boys trying to make out Frusciante is some god that Radiohead can't get near.

Radiohead sound great, Frusciante sounds great, he likes covering their music, period. Just listen to it and stop stressing out over who is better.

  • another case of apples and oranges, pots and kettles. Frusciante is a god of Funk. Radiohead is alternative in every sense of the word. are they both amazing? yes. are they the best at what they do? i'd say yes.

oh, and if you don't believe that Frusciante is amazing, check out "Mr. John Frusciante Goes Off" on this site :)

  • @drummerdickens i know its too far, if you really enjoy music you wouldnt give a shit whose better.

  • @drummerdickens Wait, WHAT?! Someone thoguht red hot chilli peppers is better than Radiohead? thats like saying Nickelback is better than Pink Floyd. You fools!

  • @shunt007 Well said ! I like RHCP a lot, and do give them some credit, but Radiohead are much more artistic, diverse, non-commercial than RHCP

  • @eazzy93

radiohead are currently just as commercial as RHCP, if not more. While the RHCP are not known to play prog/experimental rock, that doesn't mean that their music isn't artistic or diverse. Any great RHCP concert proves that. Sure they've become more of a pop band, but their great musicianship is still there.

  • @LfunkeyA LOOL ! So you´re saying that making an album and selling it at whatever you want to pay for it, a good album, is commercial ? hahaha

  • @eazzy93

wow, grow up. just because radiohead weren't backed up by any label at the time doesn't mean that they're not commercial. look at the videos for making your own in rainbows cover for christ's sake. of course they're much nicer to their users/listeners, but they still marketed the shit out of their record. they're selling out arenas all over the world. they're not on the radio or TV, because their medium is the internet.

  • @LfunkeyA WTF are you blabbering about kid?! RHCP totally dumped their incredibly cool style to some stupid poppy sound just to sell more records and radiohead is not playing live anymore and giving away songs for free on the internet every once in a while. Stop whining about who is more commercial, its about the songs. RHCP had its great time but, frankly, sux now. Radiohead never had a bad album. I still like them both, but thom has more genious.

  • @wasabiii2006

listen son, if you want to be a fan, go ahead and be one. however, 'more genius' and 'less genius' are very inappropriate terms to use, especially when it comes to art. defend whatever you want to, just avoid defecating on others in the meantime.

  • @LfunkeyA

Well in youtube comments we dont get to elaborate on stuff. But I'd definatly say Thom has more genious (dutch translation: Genialiteit), im my opinion. Note that this a subjectivistic concept. I didnt hear you about my first argumentation, i'd say you agree with it. Oh btw, I am a fan of Radiohead, and also a fan of RHCP, hell, i listened to them all my youth. But the music they make now just gets old way too fast, unlike the old style. Radiohead never disappointed me musically.

  • @drummerdickens well john is a god to some people

  • ummmmm..... whos song is this? radiohead? than why are people saying that this guy is a better musician? and thom yorke is leagues better at singing than this guy. people these days....

  • no its about opinion you clearly dont know much frusciante if you just called him "this Guy" personally im obssesed with john frusciante hes a creative genius and i prefer him sold and rhcp also to rhcp but im not saying him or they are better im just saying i prefer them. No ones leagues ahead of anyone

  • john, it's "ghost horses" at the end there...

  • If anyone here's has the complete footage, in VHS or DVD, please contact me.

  • allright, i take back the "far better", but i prefer frusciante. love radiohead though.

  • Dude, I love Frusciante, but I wouldn't say Greenwood is not in the same arena as Frusciante. Seriously, Greenwood is one of the most unique players I have ever heard. His voicings are really good and his touch is very nice. Frusciante might be better, but not far better.

  • Heraclitusfire,

Frusciante and Jonny Greenwood have different TYPES of virtuosity. Frusciante has a vaguely spanish-influenced tilt to his melodies with a distinctly rock/funk percussive sensibility. Greenwood on the other hand, comes from a more esoteric inspiration, often invoking free-jazz and classical sensibilities. Frusciante is slightly more virtuosic with his fingers, while Greenwood is slightly more cutting edge with his phrasings. It's like arguing if blue or green is a better color.

  • I completely agaree. I was responding to someone who said that the two were not even in the same ball park in terms of being important guitar players, insinuating that Johnny Greenwood is more important. It might be sort of analogous to comparing say, Jimmy Page and Steve Howe: Two totally different players, but both brilliant in their own right.

  • Frusciante is indelible...the intro to Under the Bridge, the outro to Breaking the Girl, hell the first time i heard "other side", i know it was frusciante before kedis even opened his mouth...his fingerprint is that recognizable.

But that said, Greenwood in Paranoid Android is a viper....his work in Street Spirit complimentating that death-spiral Thom plays is beautiful, plus his string work in songs like How To Disappear and Pyramid song are ghostly.

    As I said...blue or green.

  • beep wrong answer

  • well this was one of my dreams .. john performing a nice radiohead song

    it makes me so happy!

  • My 2nd favorite musician singing my favorite musician's (Thom Yorke) song. Awesome.

  • I can totally agree with that

  • Tal ves Frusciante se identifique con esa cancion de Radiohead...

  • I feel bad ass when i sing this song.

  • hmmm ending sucked.

  • Awesome cover, He's a cool guy, but he clearly has new Idea they're saying "ghost horses" at the end

  • Hey Mike.

  • hey

  • Hey mike

  • This would be so much better without that dick screaming. yew!

  • this is amazing. i knew he had a 'lucky' cover, but this is real tight. glad to see he's into amnesiac as well.

  • I didn't know who the hell John Frusciante was until watching this, but this is pretty rockin.

  • I'm only hearing from left speaker..

funny how no one's complaining about it

    great cover nontheless

  • I was only hearing from the left speaker but then i came back and its in the middle now.

  • radiohead (L)

    frusciante (L)

  • i didnt think Frusciante would have been into radiohead... still cool

  • who wouldn't?

  • Sorry i mean Hendrix

  • He plays guitar like Handrix

  • are you kidding me hes such a good singer.

hes just doing something differnt not alot of people can hear tht i guess i dont know.

  • Maybe not the greatest singer, but I like the emotion he delivers, nice

  • radiohead>rhcp

  • ;'[

  • radiohead>>>.....>>rhcp>john frusciante

  • agree. but john is still an amazing guitarist and musician. thought his solo albums are way better than anything by rhcp.

  • Yeah easily. John's solo albums are so much better than anything RHCP have ever done. John is so much more talented than the whole group. His voice is fantastic. Brilliant songwriter. Nice Radiohead cover.

  • he puts so much more feeling into his solo work than rhcp as a whole can

  • The Blood Sugar Sex Magik-album should never be put down. That's one amazing funky fucking album. If you haven't heard it, you're not aloud to talk about the Peppers.

Still I agree that their four last albums are nothing of interest. Boring stuff. Johns solo albums are all amazing. They're always in the top of my shelf.

  • One Hot Minute wasn't so bad, Flea still had his testicles at that point.

  • hmmm i think btw is amazing johns creativity behind it makes it special. especially venice queen ! the layerd harmonies at the end are amazing !

  • @styx529 true but frusciante is a beast (the good kind)

  • When is this? I have never seen Frusciante with a mustache.

  • I love John, I love Radiohead, but this doesn't work as well as John's other cover.

  • Jhon is an amazing guitar player, not much of a singer, anywayzzzz the guy is a genious

  • Not much of a singer? He has a pretty amazing vocal range.

  • i got this whole performance

  • ahh slow it down pleaseee!! woulda been alright if u slowed the fuck down !

  • frusciante es lo mas grande que existe!!!

  • I want a Yorke/Frusciante collab!

  • i can sing better

  • this IS awesome. Radiohead is god and john is awesome, by far the best part of rhcp.

  • would you shut the fuck up

  • no////////////

  • Now now guys, he has a right to his opinion, his opinion is just wrong.

  • I guess you killed callo!!

  • well,fuck you

  • Who's that prick shouting?

  • greeeat cover

  • haha does he have no idea what the lyrics are at the end? They make the whole song!

It's "We ride tonight... Ghost horses." Etc. Etc.

  • he can hum the fucking song and it would still sound great
