It will be alot more fun and cheaper than getting a new one. alot of people are going to say it wont hold but we did it to a 1000 HP Nova and it has been blasting down the drag strip running 9 flats for 12 years now without a hitch. Just get a guy who knows how to weld a good strong weld. If you need to see what I mean ill make you a vid of what to get doen.

You should spool the rear end for full traction i have a 78 monte carlo with a spool many people told be i would break an axel but nothing yet and i get awesome burn outs spools are good in my opinion and mines still streetable
