Memphis Bolt on Les Paul Copy riffs

Yea,I used to have a 78 Memphis Sunburst Strat.(big headstock,brass nut)Bought it new at the mall for 100 bux.Learned how to play on it.

Pushed it through a 15 watt Memphis amp w/ an MXR Distort box n' Boss Delay.

That was an awesome guitar.Better tones than any so called big name axe.Got stolen outta my van in S.F. round 1986.Hope I find another one.

Have pups and parts from an old beat up Memphis so I may try Warmoth body.

@killerwhutt all in all this guitar is pretty soild, I heard that Yamaha was copying the les paul and got into a legal dispute with Gibson and ended up selling the "Yamaha/Les Paul copy" piece's and parts to other companies. One of the Guitars made from these "Yamaha-Les Paul copy" was the Memphis..not sure how true that is.

this depends on the year,

if its an 80s bolt on neck style then they are junk,

but if it is an earlier model from the 70s with a set neck it is a decent guitar. I have one and I replaced the nut and the frets and put Lindy Fralin pickups in it, and it SCREAMS.

I think your Memphis sounds really good. Is it a set neck or a bolt on. Your amp is killer.

The set neck models are supposed to be pretty decent. The bolt on had real crappy tuners, and the pickups were single coil inside humbucker covers. The bridge on mine is shot as well and very buzzy. I'm going to order a new bridge and tailpiece for it from GuitarFetish.

5150 it plugged into a Marshall 1-12 combo Gold Back series speaker.  The Marshall amp doesn't work so I just use it as a practice speaker. I
