It's stipulated in the constitution. At the same time the Emperor is the highest priest of Shinto (神道), various ritual ceremonies and daily prayers are his impotant duty. Everyday he prays to gods heartedly for people's happiness and world peace. We Japanese always love and respect our Emperor.

Japan was controlled by a ruling military elite during WWII. They made the decisions to invade China, attack America and so forth. The Japanese emperor was a political figurehead, not an absolute power in Japan. He is also a religious and culture symbol to the nation of Japan. Which is why the Allied powers left the imperial family alone at the war's end.Since it is now the year 2011, I think it is time to move on from WWI, and certainly stop blaming children for the past.

When you DO forgive them; you take that power back and are able to move on with your life. A friend of mine was murdered because her boyfriend didn't want her to have the baby she was carrying.
