  • Love this show hope more movies get dubbed so I can add them to my collection

  • at my fye, they sell this season for $50.00! THATS A RIP OFF!

  • @smartyproductions well it's only $30 now, maybe you should reconsider

  • i love Case Closed it's one of my top 10 anime series i love to watch

  • this dvd has jap audio and english subtitles rite?

  • It has English audio and Japanese audio. The subtitles are for the Japanese audio and use the Japanese names (Shinichi, Ran, Kogoro, etc).

  • I love this show because Jimmy Kudo or Conan Edogawa solves cases like a real pro of everything, except Richard More who lacks detective skills!

  • This wants me to watch CC all over again!

  • Wow that's nice. It'll be cool to watch Case Closed again.

  • what's the difference between regular season 1 & Season One Box Set (Viridian Collection)

  • its cheaper

  • awesome

  • they're releasing this in a viridian box set. BUT what does the whole viridian thing mean??

  • aww, come on they're not ugly. they're the same as us; some attractive, some not. ^.^;

  • if you don't respect the Japanese, don't watch their shows, don't play their games, and don't read their books.

  • there were 130 dubbed in english but thats going by the english count(they split the 1 hour eps into 2 eps and 2 hours into 4 eps. in reality there were only 123 dubbed

  • OK UR BEING FUCKING RACIST!!!

  • i think the viridian set has moree special featueres such as being able to watch the show in Japanese.

  • so is that one better

  • in my opinion, yes.even though i'm not Japanese, i prefer watching it in Japanese, with english subtitiles.

  • can you put the full shows on please

  • I love this anime/manga!!! I remember taping all the episodes they aired on Adult Swim (I think it was up to episode 52?) back in 2004. Then I found the other English dubbed episodes up to 83. Then I started watching all the Japanese subbed episodes I could find. At first it took me a while to get used to the Japanese subbed version, now coming back to Case Closed I forgot what their voices sounded like! lol. I can't wait for Case Closed 84-105 in February!

  • @SimplyHXC I agree. I remember watching one at night when I was young. I know sounds stupid, but I LOVE MYSTERIES!! I'm a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, and "Phantom of Baker Street"-One Case Closed movie-is great all because it has Sherlock Holmes involed.

  • @SimplyHXC in japan theres like 600 and something episodes

  • @SimplyHXC in japan there is like 600 episodes

  • i cant stand tv now-a-days! there is nothing good on. im gonna get on cam. ne1 want to watch? y

  • just use torrents bro

  • J i'm feeling naughty at the moment D

  • WoW...Jimmy's voice....holly cow its so much different from the jappenese one!i forgot what it sounds like.LOL

  • I used to tape this show all the time.

  • I checked to see if there was the Case Closed dvd box set at Besy Buy, they changed everything inside and they didn't have it on the racks.

  • That Sucks

  • they have Case Closed @ F.Y.E. inside the Eastwood Mall if you live in Ohio

  • This is like my favorite show other than Invader Zim. Hope those are not rumors about the new or more dubbed episodes. If you don't want to buy the dvd. Which I'm sure you will, but if, you can sign up for animecrave. Only 5.00$ to watch all 83 englished dubbed episodes!

  • Case Closed isnt air on tv in the us anymore it used to be on Adult swim a while back but i guess the show got tow low of ratings which i rly didnt get i mean who doesnt like case closed

  • can anyone here tell me what channel Case Closed comes on and what time? (if it does) I Would LOVE to know

  • aww it comes out jully 22!!! i cant wait! man case closed is the show!

  • They have even confirmed new movies on the way for case closed

  • I heard they finished dubbing the 6th season and its coming out on spring 09'

  • that is such awesome news =D

    do u have any sources??

  • would he have any idea if FUNi got the rights to dub the opening "feel your heart"??

  • cool! where'd you hear it from?

  • I like to watch case closed . and is one of good detive.

  • They have already confirmed season 2 it's coming out september 22nd.

  • I'm been waiting for a while for new DVD of case closed. Even if I have up to 52 eps I still buy the new ones.

  • I still can't waite for this! I'm so exited! Case Closed rules!! Dub more pretty please

  • Still can't wait for this Box Set. I got the money right here! Don't let me down FUNi, and please release some new episodes soon. I'm begging yah here! (also would it kill yah to advertize a little more, it would increase sales yah know)

  • If they're re-releasing this series in box sets. Then I guess Funimation is revising the anime. Any sources about the confirmation of them dubbing past 80 episodes?

  • They dubed up to episode 128 in english (confirmed by Harley Hartwell's Voice Actor like 3 years ago). FUNimation says they still wish to dub the show, and will do many more, hopefully the entire show(or what has been made as of now). Viz Media is sure poping out the mangas like there's no tomorrow so be nice if FUNimation could start doing that with the anime episodes. I know it takes a lot longer to dub an episode, then to just translate a Manga Volume, but what's with the few year hiatus?

  • Maybe during the Hiatus they dubbed soem more episodes? We can sure hope so.

  • So we will get to see the second episode of Gin & Vodka in English if that's the case. I too hope hope they'll release more than 128. I've only seen up to 134 episodes.

  • I really hope they will. If you guys want them to, support FUNimation and buy this Case Closed DVD Box Set. If Case Closed is shown to be a money maker they will keep dubing it. If all the fans buy this box, they will look at the profits and say "damn gata dub some more". I know for a fact lots of hardcore fans don't buy the DVD's, and they should. Stop leaching, start buying.

  • I don't know, nothing says they couldn't change the names back. I mean the situation is almost the same as One Piece, things were changed for specific reasons. But Yea, I don't mind the names too much, though hopefully they won't change the origins of characters (since that guy in the first movie is Native Japanese, not from England.)

  • I'll buy the box set which looks nicer than the old one I own. I'll support the series by buying the sets as well as supporting the upcoming One Piece Sets too.

  • Nice, I'm sure FUNimation will be gratefull. All the Anime Distibuters are not doing the best recently, but I don't think any type company is really making a killing nowadays (minus the oil compnaies of course). If more people are like you however, we can be sure to see more Case Closed coming our way!

  • I'm one of the many anime fans that sees the value Case Closed has. I mean how other mystery anime are there that are this enjoyable.

  • So true! If there's another Mystery Anime out there as good as this one, I wanna be watching it, cuz this is great! Great show, I show my support for it! I hope more people are like you EMaster.

  • I'm sure a lot of other people would know it's exsistence since Detective Conan has ran much longer than most other anime. Course I'm not accuratly sure what is the current longest running anime. But 504 episodes is pretty long for a mystery anime.

  • it's up there with the longest running anime series. I think it's like 3rd. But the ones in front are now complete, Case Closed is not ending yet...not for awhile.(Doraemon = 2000+ episodes, Sazae-san = 1700 episodes, Case Closed= 504 episodes , Pokemon= 400+ episodes, DB/DBZ/DB GT= 500 episodes)

  • I had a feeling Doraemon had a ton of episodes, course I only seen like 3 of that series. But I had a feeling Case Closed would fit the category of having more episodes than most average anime out there.

Another reason why I'll buy this Season 1 box set is it'll take up less space on my DVD shelves. And I hope the other upcoming sets will be in order and not like in the "Case 5 Set".

  • Yeah Doraemon has a lot of episodes ( I think I acually watched one episode long ago idr), Case Closed has a lot more episodes then a normal show does. And yes it's great that this box will help us with saving "Shelf Space". I think they put "Case 5 Set" out of order because they didn't want to put the first part of a two part episode and not the 2nd part. Something like that. That will NOT ever happen in a season box set release, because they can pick and choose where to stop.

  • That's one explaination. Just sometimes I hate it when I'm not watching a chronicle series in a continuing order. The same with how the 20x3 Ninja Turtles DVDs were released with out of order episodes on the Season 3 DVDs. But I think the 2-Disc sets of that season and season 4 will be in the right order.

  • 26 episodes, that's a great deal. That means we'll be way past 84 by the fifth set. Sweeeeet!

  • I love this show. While the name change is a little off putting, it's not too bad. Hopefully they can fix the localization mistakes (read: not confusing where a certain other boy detective hails from).

Shame this show didn't work out on AS, but hopefully the sales of the DVDs might get CN to try and put on a late night thing (like 10 or something) or maybe try to get it on that Sleuth network (perfect fit for such a show, right? ;P)

  • Damn if this went on Case closed. or any other channle (not countign FUNimations channle that no one has) I'd be URBER happy!!

  • i want them to use the original names

    not jimmy, rachel, richard

  • then watch the japanese part with subtitles

  • The japanese company that owns Case Closed WONT LET THEM use those names. It's not FUNimation's choice

  • That was only for the TV broadcast. Nothing says they can't use the original names and terms in the uncut boxsets (I mean, that little tag saying "Detective Conan" seems to hint at something being changed). The only reason why alot of stuff was changed was because TS (or whatever they're called) felt that people might not relate to the characters being named Ran, Kogoro and so on.

I'm just glad though that we'll finally have boxsets. I wonder if they'll do any digital restoration for it too...

  • The dub will be the same, the "detective conan" thing is an easter egg/helps fans idenfity it as Detective Conan. And name changes wer enot for the TV broadcast, it was FOR the show, at the time they dubbed it who new if it would air on TV or not? The company wanted the show with Americanized names, which was a good move, but rather odd. I acually like the english names, and I useally hate when dubbers change the names. But I like this one for some reason, seems fitting to me.

  • is this company actually going to finish up this series here in the states cause i would love to start collecting the anime along with my manga too ya know

  • well accordingto Funimation, yes, according to Fans of Kodacha who got ripped off half way througha show, not likely. I have faith in FUNI though, perhaps too much, but they say they will continue releaseing Case Closed in Box Set format, so I'm thinking by december/january new/unrelased episodes will be out. Hey a guy can dream, can't he?

  • Man, I'm been waiting for this for months, this is one of my top 5 favorite anime. Now the Case Closed in Japan call Detective Conan past 500 episodes and made 12 movies, and 7 ovas I beleieve. Thanks so much, better later than never right?

  • Come on season one where are the new episodes. I got all the dvds so far I'd buy it if it was episode 84 and up.

  • the new episodes (84 and up) will be released in this format, so They figured mine as well start from the start, adn do the entire show like this...although I'm eager for some new episodes

  • I love love LOVE this show, and I've only got a couple of the previous dvds so it won't be much of a double dip for me! This one's going on my list (I'll probably never get all the stuff I'd like to, but that doesn't stop me from adding it to a very looooooooooong wish list. At least I'll never be bored LOL).

  • I'm ganna buy this! But Funimation please stop releaseing older episodes after your done releaseing these, and start releaseing new ones soon. This is the third time I'm ganna have to buy the first few episodes, but I want this so...But please new episodes?

  • I know I'm probally just talking to myself...but I'm ranting =P

  • We're not even sure if they CAN dub anything past 80, after the whole mess this show turned out to be in the States.

  • #1) It's already been confirmed that they've at least dubbed to episode 128

#2) The "whole mess it turned out to be in the States"? I'm gonna have to ask you to explain yourself on that one.

  • In Summer 2004, it aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim for 50 episodes at 1:30, got cancelled by the end of year and puled off next Sumer and hasn't aired since.

The DVDs started where the broadcast left off not from the beginning, but since it got low viewership (polarity of audience, 1:30 AM) it made little sense so it stopped for a while.

Even worse, Funi had the choice to get either this or One Piece, but since they thought they could get it later, they got this, while 4Kids got OP.

  • Funimation claims they will dub past 128 into english. Case Closed got GREAT raitings (in the top 30 TV shows for 13-19 year olds or soemthing like that) but it didn't have the raitings for the 19+, which is what adult swim caters to, plus a higher-up didn't like the show and didn't want to air anymore then they legally had to.

  • 19+? With the absolutely sad stuff like Tim and Eric *not depressing, but horribly bad. Not even funny bad*, on adult swim. Theres no way it caters to 19+. They even edited evangelion quite a bit, and it really didn't need it in the first place.

  • Dude they do. They cater to the 19-30ish market. Don't beleive me look it up. Both the fact Case Closed had great raitings, and that Adult Swim wants veiwers in the 19--30ish range are both supported by facts. Also The U.S. army has adds on Adult Swim, they would not advertize on a channle that 18+ people were meant to watch...that would be stupid

  • I do know that they want people in that age range, but the shows don't really support it. Because of broadcast standards, most of the anime and cartoons actually shown, are more of a 14-17 age range. At least, now. When adult swim first started and showed more, mature shows such as the original gundam, that dragged in adults big time. Not so much now.

  • so buying this =D

  • Holy $hit awesome!!!

  • yay can't wait
