  • isso prá mim é luta de gay!!!!

porra os cara usa sai mano!

    kkkkkk

    tem que jogar capoeira mano!!!!

  • Aiki doesn't mean that two guys run equal speed

  • why didnt you make more vids like this?

  • amazing

  • thats not just any aikido thats Sugawara aikido. I can tell because the jo kata they did at 0:39 is one of the Sugawara sensei kumijo katas theres 8 of them they are a mix of Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu and the jo movements from aikido

  • So true Dasifter, Matrix music rocks with anything!

Love Aikido! It is not an easy martial art to practice, but once understood, it becomes such a powerful one. It is said that only after 4-5 years of training, one truly begins to understand it.

btw..was that a camera trick @ 1:48 or a real getting up move? Wow!

  • Of the Satanic New Age Movement

  • Hey that's nice, next you should take an even older and more respected art form and play "Baby got Back" over the top

  • Wisdom of the Arts and where it started from is one can train together. But each style fix to a person that trains well for the path of wisdom . Not only fighting is all ways needed. But it comes with all other grant years of training. Ones wisdom is to need to know.

  • [vader]Impressive. Most impressive.[/vader]

  • very good

  • where are them from?

  • toxic martial art and very weak too.

  • that Koshinage is good ! its from ikkyo ... :-)

  • @DarkOnTheWorld

Still trying to learn how to do Ikkyo nage!

    Tricky one :)

  • Multiple attackers, Rondori, keep moving...

  • Impressing, I really love aikido =) (especially Irmini nage)

  • nice music?????

  • The swordplay looks cool (2:03).

  • Koshinage <3

  • Whoaa!! @ 1:46..

I have never seen that get up move, might have to learn it..looks so cool!

  • never seen breakdance?

  • aikido is the best

  • nice video

  • it takes skill to make it look as easy as it is - akidos philosophy is to use the opponents aggression against them.. a defensive counter attack will always dominate an offensive strike(no matter how big or 'strong' you are)

  • @MrColin253 Bullcrap. Not if the offensive strike hits you first.. you won't be able to counter properly when your hit by a strong hook or whatever, don't be so naive dude.. there aren;t any certainties when it comes to hand to hand combat

  • @Jim2529 EXACTLY, thats why u have to be good u idiot, dont get hit first.... he didnt say u get hit then counter, counter as in before u get hit u grab his hand or w/e fuckin idiot, read.

  • @MrColin253 i've read is to avoid injuring both the attacker and the attacked D=

    how right is that?

  • yeah but what happens if the other guy is just too strong for you and you cant bend is arm or his wrist?...just wondering

its a baddas demo tho , aikido looks cool

  • you always can, you just use his weight to push him ,

  • The point whit aikido is that anyway how strong your opponent is you will be able to use his own power against him. And if you don't manage to turn his wrist or arm (it's rarely), use a fool punch and stop about an inch of his face.

  • why would you want to stop with the punch if the opponent was trying to hurt you? You will probably wind up breaking his wrist or arm anyway. (Not everone know how to flow with the throw). Injury is ineviatable with the punch or the throw/subduing or both. :)

  • Love and protect your attacker. He will get over his 2-3 minutes of anger if you are able to make him hit the floor enough times.Defeated,

  • you can actually hit him with atemi. you don't have to stop. O'sensei used to teach alot of atemi waza.

  • Because most of the art is about breaking balance keeping the opponent a halfstep beyond his centre of balance.

  • Very nice, thank you.

  • awesome... i wana learn aikido!

  • i realy like that video^^

    applause for U guys!!!!

  • sugoi!!!

excellent aikido demonstration i love it!!!

    specially the sword fighting part

  • Oletteko te suomalaiset? Good to know =).

    Nice vid.

  • this is an excellent demonstration of aikido.

  • Aikidoka's also practice with the kendo stick and bo staff because Aiki-jujitsu is what Aikido is derived from. It's a martial art that was passed down through Samurai lines.

  • hey whats that with sword fighting?

the aikido club i go to isn't old and nobody practices that with swords(I know they a re wooden)...

so is it about joint locks and throws,or is it common sword fighting???

OMG i wish it is real sword fighting, because i want to learn to use sword very much!

  • You might want to look at other clubs. Since the first session at my current club we spend the first half learning locks, throws etc and the second half with the bokken (wooden katana/samurai sword/kendo stick) or the jo (bo staff/ wooden stick).

  • so,what's it like?

is it evading attack and doing lock,or common swordfighting??

P.S. I think that my club is the only one in country, but I am not sure...

    and U.K. is 6 countries away(6 countries between us,I am from Balkans,Montenegro...)

  • Slovenija, Bosna i Hercegovina, Hrvatska, Srbija i Makedonija : p

  • very nice video :)

  • excellent

  • Cette vidéo est excellente. Il est rare que l'Aikido soit montré aussi attrayant (je sais ce que je dis, je suis 3ème Dan...). Cela donne vraiment envie de le pratiquer. Très bien !

  • why did they not make more of this , this is one of the best aikido i have seen on youtube

  • awesome

wat was the name of that song?

  • propellerheads - spybreak!

  • 1:48 that look cool ... teach me T.T

  • You wanna see when you can use aikido? Try "Excellent aikido demonstration"

  • je trouve que cette vidéo est une bonne idée pour rendre cet art martial plus atraillant parce qu'il peut paraître ennuyant au 1er abord alors que c'est avec la pratique qu'on se rend compte que c'est génial !

  • Looked like a Japanese spaghetti western but without the blood.

  • You can add Matrix music to someone peeling an orange and it's rocks!

  • c'est trop bien l'aikido x)

  • I think this video doesnt show what´s Aikido about.

  • there is a tori, there is an uke, and the tori is tossing the uke around, what else can a video about aikido do?

  • love the move at 1:48

  • Horrible...just horrible

  • The word I'd use is dire.

  • because you are probably a little bit stupid

  • I know what dire Aikido looks like, I've seen enough of it.

  • ??????????

  • ta vidéo avec les noms des différentes techniques est superbe !

(ça me rappelle des souvenirs, je faisais de l'aikido il y a pas longtemps !)

  • oui, c'est Japonais d'origine.

  • Those guyz are finns!!! Hyvä Suomi!!!

  • Impressive!!Do where I can buy some good instructional videos on Aikido?

  • You can buy them at budo videos or just rent them online at goldstarvideo.

  • yuytguiyiu*

  • my suggestion would be that if you don't have a Dojo nearby you will first need a place to practice, athletic mats are essential.

Second you will need someone to train with. Aikido is neearly impossible to practice solo. Third I suggest "Aikido and the Dynamic Shpere" it's an extremely thorough book, and lastly a program called Aikido3D.

    aikido3d-com

They are no substitute for an experience Sensai and Dojo but it's a good place to start.

  • Waouh Holywood Aïkido !

  • excelent video! one of my favorites on youtube!

Leonel 1st dan aikido - Portugal!

  • me gusta mucho este video desde canary island (spain)

  • You are great! And very good Aikido techniques! Five stars!

  • Aikido is great! i m taekwondo guy and i m gonna start sin moo hapkido in september 2008.

    i'd like to test aikido...

  • muy bueno ,excelente videod e aikido

  • Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Congratulations! What a nice piece!! Fantastic ukemi!

What style of aikido is this? Especially the weapons???

    Greetz from Germany

  • This camera man is good... looks like a reel film.

    the aikido-masters are also good

  • aikido throw are verry nice, but they look fucking hard to master.

  • perfect and beautiful. congratulations from brazil.

  • I've been watching Aikido videos all night. It's one of the disciplines being taught near where I live, and after reading all the positive and mature comments from all of you taking Aikido I think i'm going to enroll in the class.

  • Congratulations and best of luck to you. Masakatsu Akatsu.

  • I'm a nidan and been practicing Aikido since 1980. Only had to use it once in real life. Got mugged on a pier in Galveston TX. The guy grabbed my shoulder from behind and spun me around. He had a knife in the other hand. I broke/dislocated his shoulder before he had a chance to react. Left him screaming while I picked up the knife and walked away. Still have the knife.

    Aikido does work!!

  • how long does it take to become as good as you? ive got 7 years of kick boxing training but i feel it hasnt helped me.

in this vid alot of the guys are doing nothing while they could punch the intructer like anyone would in real life, should i take up aikido?

    cheers

  • Most people I have dealt with did about 4 years of Aikido before they could use it reliably for self defense. However, my balance and coordination began to improve drastically after about 3 months and that alone is useful in a fight and daily life. As for hitting the instructor, most of the techniques are either fast enough that the target can't respond in time or part of the target's own body gets in the way of them punching effectively. The people in the vid are going for control over speed.

  • cheers,ill get right on finding a club ;)

  • there have been times that i thought that i could "hit" my instuctor but when i really tried i ended up on my back wondering how the hell i got there

  • i never thought i would possibly tell anyone this but...speed and attack are useless against aikido...if you defend then the enemy comes to you were theyre forced to use bushido aikido stance making there entire bottom half defenceless

  • The Dojo where I'm at *cough -- Carling Heights Community Centre -- cough* doesn't teach the techniques that I see in this video. "Marvelous".

  • aikido is definitely not for you

  • You're right(maybe for the first time of your life, stupid.)Aïkido is tought as a response to brutality and brainless muscles. So yes, you can say that we are weak people, you can write it on youtube, would you do the same in a dojo? For sure, you seem to be a brave guy! Please choose my dojo...and be my guest.

  • In fact, you are right aikido is for weak people... You don't need to be strong, to do aikido, and this is one of the good things of aikido.

  • i have never practiced aikido.....i have studied shotokai karate ( 6 years ) 4 years in judo and still in practice with ninjutsu (bujinkan). I must admit i love the look of aikido, it realy looks a great art.....full respect.

  • First of all.....I thought the video was reaaly cool.

I have been an Aikidoist for the better part of 20 years....I began at the age of 7. I have shodan in Aikido, Aikijutsu, and brazillian jujitsu.... About 4 years ago I was boucing at a bar here Called the yellow rose.after ejecting a group of trouble makers, they waited out side for us to leave..4 hours! I was attacked by 3 people, one with a huge fishing knife...because of all my years of training I not only survived but w/ only a scar

  • What shodan do you have in Aikido?

  • I'm guessing he means .... erm.... Shodan. As opposed to Nidan, Sandan, Yodan, Godan, etc

  • Ops my bad took wrong on the words... errm.. i meaned what Dan he had in Aikido..

  • I took Jujutsu, Taekwondo, Judo and Aikido when I was growing up an I have to say Aikido is my favorite out of those four.

  • Do you think Aikido is most effective in a self-defense situation?

  • Aikido is almost worthless for self defense AT FIRST. Once you get better at it, it becomes extremely effective.

  • Sorry. I meant "seems" rather than "is". I have only studied the art for a little while but I love it.

  • weaklings! lol nah their good

  • good job...

  • kay i love aikido and will argue with anyone who says its fake comeon its the art of the samurai but these two look like fags

  • aikido really looks good, i enjoy watching it but i doubt it'll work on streets. actually aikido isn't a bullying techniqe, if you want something works on street, i advice you wing chun, if aikido is jedi, wing chun is sith

  • Actually, Aikido works pretty well in a your typical scrap, most people are generally not prepared for the circular movements and go down easily.

  • Aikido works just fine on the streets. When I was younger, I hurt some people with it. About a year ago, just after my 60th birthday, I took down someone on the street and immobilized him without any serious injury to him ... just enough pain to keep him in line while I cussed him out. It was the most amazing thing that's happened to me in all my years in Aikido.

  • nice tune! what is that music?

    nice forms.

people who think they are in a position to summarily dismiss any martial art are clearly uneducated in those forms. Aikido isn't there to prove itself. it's there for you to discover.

  • Aikodi is great, it looks great, so flowing and natural, like dancing indeed, and the most important part, it's spirit is great, indeed, non harming, and peaceful.

Of course it's very effective when one's being attacked. That's only a bonus however.

  • Why aren't you guys in all the other threads about Aikido? They're nothing but haters flaming Aikido. Man, this is so refreshing! And, I agree with you; imho, self-defense is only a by-product of study and training.

  • it's just ignorance, all those BJJ guys that they think they can clinch to the ground anybody just because they saw Royce Gracie doing it on a marketing video. I saw few of them getting their butt kicked by what they consider"inferior" styles like TKD or Aikido. I enjoyed it very much actually ;)

  • well that goes to prove that practicing a style is meaningless. the practitioner is more important the style. Although i am follower of JKD concepts, i think Aikido looks very impressive

  • 1)I ask not to use this work, there's a special termin- Aikidoka

2)There are many possibilities. Aikidoka B is able to do something only when he doesn't resist.

    3) They may like it. Throws and locks. I mean, they went to Aikido because they weren't aggresive, otherwise they would go to ju-jitsu.

  • Aikido means the gentle way. Hence, the lack of strikes, chokes, attacks...The dancing you see in the video are for demonstration. Y'all simply watch WAY too much MMA and forget that MMA gets its moves from other forms of martial arts, such as jujitsu and aikio

  • Actually, JUDO means gentle way. Aikido means body spirit way. There are in fact chokes in aikido, and an irimi-nage can be a devastating strike across the throat if done properly.

  • I stand corrected.

  • Lack of strikes? Aikido is all based on strikes.

  • Finally!!! Someone who actually realizes that Aikido isn't about "throws". In a real fight Aikido breaks down into strikes. Been there and had it happen. I f*ckin' luv you, man!!! ;)

  • having read all the comments on aikido, it seems to me its like marmite you love it or hate it, i train aikido and i love it and when it comes to the point where your learning the techniques they are affective, heck i am a big guy and i was getting thrown around by my sensei whos much smaller than me and a woman......

  • Nice video!

I am now even more inspired to start training Aikdio. ^_^

  • Correction of my own post: Aikido.

    Damn typos. ¬_¬

  • I do Aikido, so shut up, I bet I can beat you, and why insult anyone? Thats a sine of weakness... nothing more to say..

  • Come to England you arogent big headed American & I will show you how Aikido should be used. You will lose, and quickly. Its a cheap flight these days. In fact I will pay you your flight money before I kick your bloated American head in. You will need it for your Medical Bills. I await your arrival!

  • One of my friends got into a bar fight with an aikidoka. My friend now has two fake front teeth. He said the aikidoka was really apologetic about slamming his face into the bar counter though.

  • Mr Weston - an Aikidoka shouldn't be seeking for fights, and shouldn't use Aikido just to harm other people, otherwise he is not an Aikidoka.

Mr Alkridon - When I have to use aikido to defend myself I also not to make any real harm.

What I am saying not that it is gayish or not effective but that harming isn't its spirit

  • From the way my friend tells it, the aikidoka didn't mean to harm him, the head into the bar was an accident. The aikidoka was simply trying to deal with my overagressive friend's attack and made a mistake in positioning his throw. He wasn't trying to slam my friend's head inot the counter.

  • I agree, but sometimes we do have to fight even when we don't really want to. I only wished to show the bully who made the original comment for what he was a coward a bully & a big head. We all choose a different path to follow & I wanted my art to work not just as spiritual exercise.

  • ' I want considerate people to listen to the voice of Aikido.

    It is not for correcting others;

It is for correcting Your Own Mind'.

Your not out to seek fights..,I study for personaldevelopment not aggression ,For aggression I do Shotokan.Simple.

  • Comment removed

  • @Polonium36.Aikido is about harminizing with the earth ourselves and others.Mr Weston if you study Aikido you may want to study some spiritual Development with that maybe Zazen even or Kototama.Learn to accept peoples critism

You are right I dont want to be correcting you...Thats your job.

Aikido in O Sensei's very own words..

    Quote

  • yeah im kinda guessing your a big meat headed red neck, bit to much ufc and wwf. big muscles aint shit man, ive been doin aiki for about 10 years been in a few fights and won (not proud of it and tried to avoid them) and funnily enough, i dont find the need to insult other people for there chosen paths in life hmmmm am i sensing some inbreeding in the family

  • aikido rocks.... and it will always rock...

  • i think it is funny how people bag out other martial arts, i was just discussing this in my aikido class with another student. (who has studied many other styles)they all have strengths and weaknesses. secondly some ones point about this not being a self defense vid, aikido that is resisted causes a lot of damage , and aikido that seeks a fight to demonstrate isn't the way of aikido.

  • i think i kinda understand why MMA, BJJ, MT fighters say so many shit about Aikido. 1) they watched too much UFC, 2) they only judge based on videos they've seen and some demonstration 3)alot of the videos they see have overly cooperative Uke, rather than a realistic, resistant Uke. I know the effectiveness of Aikido because i fought an Aikidoka but lost, despite of my Muay Thai training

  • Once again I want to remind all of you that this video was not made for showing how effective aikido is in self defense . It was made for having fun (and getting credits of a video editing course). Therefore it would be more applicable to comment on the video angles of this video than aikido's effectiveness in street fight ;)

    Regards,

    "Blondie" ;)

  • Hahahaha. Moim zdaniem aikido jest skuteczne i efektowne. Jeśli ktoś umie zapanować nad sobą, nad swoimi emocjami i jeśli ktoś dobrze przyswoi tą sztukę walki. W aikido jak w każdej innej sztuce walki potrzeba czasu żeby się jej nauczyć.

  • XD knee down when you are in clock choke like blondie did you're out man xD

  • And you can say this because....

    a) you've trained in various different martial arts and found aikido to be ineffective

    b) have beaten someone thoroughly trained and experienced in aikido

    c) watched UFC too many times and think that is more applicable to real life.

    I think c)

  • yea, i would choose C for this guy

  • MY Aikido instructor watches UFC xD

  • Tämä on sitä liikkeen runoutta. Hieno video.

  • Amazing

  • awesome ... 5/5

  • I PRACTISED ASIKIDO during 13 years I stopped 4 years ago because I left Italy for work and now my back is a bit fucked!

    but I love it!

  • Your back is now fucked probably because you never leared how to fall

  • Ehmm, sorry to say this, but when u are doing shomen with the bokken or ken, u do not have 'centrum' :/

  • ???

  • Aikido really is the most evolvled martial art.

  • Hmm - it's a watered down version of Daitoryu Aiki Jujutsu. If by "evolved" you mean "the most dangerous jujutsu techniques have been removed from its curriculum" you are correct but in any other sense "evolved" is pretty much meaningless.

  • you can say all the thing taht u want, BUT AIKIDO IS THE REAL MARTIAL ART! IS THE MORE COMPLETE, U DON' T HAVE ANY RULES, U CAN DO ALL AT YOUR ADVERSARY! AIKIDO FOR EVER!!""!!

  • you got that right :)

  • nice video

  • i love this and i do this it is very difficult but i practice for 7 years. i'm sorry for my english but i'm french

  • chut uppe mozeur fockeur offe maïe ass !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ah..!..eso es muy facil....!!!

  • I think!

Grabbing wrists is a practikal way of practice. In aiki and in aikido the unification of the combatants power is the essens. Wen grabbed in the wrist this is ease clear. It also hawe to do withe mae, wen grabbing you violate the space in a clear way and techniques can be practiced.

Besides grabbing wrist privet people from taking their weapons. The ability to get out of a grip is also a loved way to showoff in old japan, to showoff without disturbing tumbling around.

  • Nice vid :) btw do you guys know why in Aikido there are so many wrist grabs?

  • i think i know, by grappling tyhe wrist you can move yourself and your opponent more freely around

  • I think!

Grabbing wrists is a practikal way of practice. In aiki and in aikido the unification of the combatants power is the essens. Wen grabbed in the wrist this is ease clear. It also hawe to do withe mae, wen grabbing you violate the space in a clear way and techniques can be practiced.

  • Because when you get into a fight involving more than one person, someone usually goes for your arms/wrists. In Japan, when you had a sword out opponents who weren't armed would go for the arms to stop you from being able to use your sword.

In the modern world as well, people still use wrist grabs a lot. If you are a smaller person, even a kid, people go for your arms because they think it makes you d
