Very used to them in the UK - they're everywhere. I think people just need to be educated about them. Also, here we have arrows which are painted around the "spot". Other than the weirdo who went the wrong way, the traffic seems to be flowing well
Cus it keeps most traffic flowing and is safer - cars are forced to slow down. If there was a collision, it would be at an angle, not at 90 degrees which also makes it safer.
Nope. The city did a very rough trial. The intersection had one stop sign, which was not removed during the trial. The signs in the middle with the sandbag merely say 'keep right', though at least one driver couldn't manage that. Still I felt it was inspiring to watch. The impact was dramatic. Too bad our city wasn't willing to take on the challenge. It was a very confined space, and would have been among the smaller roundabouts in this part of the country.

What is the point?! Why not just have a three-way stop, or in this case a smooth running street with another entering street (w/ a stop)

From the traffic, it seems like the mini-roundabout "yield on entry" signs are also in place (What stop sign?).
