i have the 2011 baseline imac with an hd 6750m and when i downloaded and installed mobility drivers 11.12 and go to the path you showed me( in windows 7 that is so maybe thats why it doesn't work?) it doesn't have the folder called drivers, apps is the only one in there? please help me figure this out?

I did this on Vista 64, but as stated below there is a problem with updating it on Windows 7 64 bit. Unfortunately Redirocks, that thread is now unavailable. Does anyone know of a solution?

You can't play BF3 with this adaptor I'm afraid. It only supports Pixel shader 4.0, BF3 requires PS 4.1. Sorry!

Thing is... it IS a Mobility card in the iMacs (metal rim 2007 model) because it is based on a laptop configuration as it's technically portable. The only mac that isn't mobility are the Mac Pro's.

by using these instructions you can install the newest (modded) drivers and not those old drivers which hasn't been updated for years. ;-)

I'm trying to update my Ati Radeon X1600 on (bootcamp) Windows XP 32bit. I downloaded the software suite. When I run the setup, it says 'it could not find a driver compatible with current hardware or OS. Shutting down.' (paraphrased from Dutch warning screen). What do I do? I'm thinking of removign the old driver first, would that be wise?

Yes you need to buy a Windows cd separately. Also keep in mind that you cannot install windows on more than one computer.

I can follow the instructions ok (i successfully used this techinique on windows xp), but i'm getting the 'driver is not compatible with this version of windows' error. There are two driver setup files C7_84684 and CH_84684, but neither of them work. Any help?

I had this problem on Windows XP

The solution is simple, if you scroll down on the menu at the ATI website, you will see there is an Operating system called "Boot Camp".

If you are running Windows XP instead of vista, this is the driver you must install

Mind did this too, even for Nvidia drivers, on Windows 7 64. I went to Do-Not-Argue's driver page (google DNA drivers) and installed the vista 64 bit nvidia drivers, worked even when the drivers from the nvidia site didn't!

Im not lucky enough (yet!) to have an iMac, but Im 2000% sure that a Windows driver will only affect the perf in Windows, never in other os. Unless the driver has an effect on the hardware, but its not likely at all.

For those who got an error installing the downloaded package, doesn't matter, you have unpacked the file before so you can skip the installation part and go straight to the end of the instalation with selecting the proper driver. Hope it can help!

So I installed the proper driver finally, the ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT (I have an entry level 20" iMac) and unfortunately it's made absolutely no difference in gameplay. I'm in the Warhammer Online beta and the game is unplayable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm running XP and get the same message as the others when I try to install the new drivers. If I continue with the tutorial I get to the page that lets me choose my installation options and I choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." The only list of drivers that comes up is the old ATI Mobility Radeon Driver and basically the same driver which I downloaded from Omega. So the proper driver doesn't come up for me (because it wasn't installed?). Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!

Rather than selecting from the list that appears when you select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." - click on the "Have Disk..." button. This will allow you to select a driver file. Even though the initial driver installation appears to fail, it should have copied these files to your hard disk. So, when you click on Have Disk, select the file which should be in C:\ATI\bla\bla\bla\ (keep opening folders until a file appears) - good luck!

Thanks for the tip, Mark. I selected my proper driver (ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT) after clicking the Have Disk button and installed the driver. Unfortunately, it made no difference whatsoever. Warhammer Online still crashes on my machine constantly, frequently has over 1 min lag spikes, 3 min loading times, etc. I really appreciate the advice but if you or anybody else has any more ideas I'd be incredibly appreciative. Thanks!

Thanks for this. It took me a fair amount of screwing around since I ran into the same problem with the installer as the other guys, but I *think* I got it sorted. My list of drivers ended up with like...all of the Radeon card drivers, but I got the right one and since it's all working, I assume it went smoothly. I've only tried Doom 3 so far, but it was definitely a lot better. Gonna try STALKER and The Orange Box now.

As I said to someone in a previous comment. If you get that error, it should have already copied over some files, including the driver files you want! It just wont install them for you... So, you should be able to continue with the tutorial as normal. Let me know if that works for you :)

I have the iMac 2.66 Ghz version (Bootcamp under XP) with the same graphics card. All I have to say is that this video absolutely helped! Performance in Oblivion: The Elder Scrolls IV increased dramatically for example. Other games received performance boosts as well.
