I wan't to say that there is something interesting in this video, but I think my perceptions fail me. Or maybe it's that my ears cannot correlate the impressions of this video. In other words, I "Kant" understand a damn thing being said.
Im taking a philosophy 101 class... but i'm definitely not majoring in it! I just think it would be the most interesting of a group of classes, one of which i'm required to take.
@thegrandjew Chemistry is mostly hand's on in a Lab, and the equipment required is not free. Neither is the experience of the Professor to tell you not to mix acids and bases without a controlled environment.
Philosophy is the study of the Individual's mind. It belongs in the Individual's mind and in the Library. Classes and Majors for the subject are quite pointless, as they only teach what other's think rather than how to think for yourself.
I went to college as an Economics major. Not the best major but something that I got some knowledge and skills to start a business if I can't get a job. I went out with a girl who was a philosophy major. I asked what can you do with a philosophy major? I can go to the library and read some Plato or Aristotle. College students, pick your major wisely! No one will hire a philosophy major!
@PaladinX500 Modern education is relatively useless. Independent and community based group study should be the way education function's. Forcing people into a structured format such as the Public Educational system only reinforces the rebellious nature of the people involved. There has to be incentives to becoming educated, otherwise there's no reason to do it. I went to college because I didn't want to do what I was doing for the rest of my adult life. Not because it was what I had to do.
what the hell?This wasn't like any day of my life ever. And thank god... if this were to happen to me I would probably run amok and tie people to train tracks and whatnot.
@OSRADIS Agreed! :) nor was it anything like anything I experienced while doing my philosophy degree.
But then unlike the characters my classmates and I tended to have at least some understanding of what we were talking about - and not simply parrot the names of philosophers and theories nonsensically.

@dzsquared1, If a philosophy major falls in the woods and someone hears it, then will he think he is smarter than everyone else?

@Joe11Blue Oh... ok. I'll let the grandmaster know, and we'll cancel all the philosophy classes all over the world. *phew* good thing you're here!

@BCsJonathanTM I see college has really taught you critical thinking, nope that's just sarcasm with a hint of idiocy.

@Joe11Blue I went to college?

@BCsJonathanTM Perhaps you should have, maybe you're on the few people that would have actually benefited from it.

@Joe11Blue You could use that argument to claim that school is useless
