@roeroe305 What did they play this song on a tv show?? That's awesome! This song is so underrated, so it's cool that someone had the good taste to put it on tv :D
ohh this brings back so many memories of my school years, snogs with girls in shop doorways in Salford, Bazooka Joe bubblys, and if you had a £1 note in your pocket you were the rich kid.
@TheJumpyPopcorn How do you know it? I"d read that Rhye, kings on throns, fearytale kingdoms came from Freddie"s childhood - he was told a lot of it when he was a boy. I think it's just a beautifull world, promissed land that ppl can't reach now a days! "Wars will never seased, there is no time enough for piece" - you think it's about his sexuality? LOL, but Bri is far form fool!
@marinazi1 I didn't say I knew it. You have your opinion, I have mine. I just said Brian thought this was Freddie talkin about his fight with his sexuality, his words. Why do you even take Freddie's lyrics for granted? He's not the kind of songwriter who transforms his life into song lyrics, he's private. And also do not call Brian a fool because that he is not and besides he knew Freddie, you did not, so, it's much more likely for him to be right than for you to be right.
@TheJumpyPopcorn If you'd read my question more attentively you'd find that I've asked"HOW do you know it?" that means"What source did you get it from?"Of course everybody can interpret lyrics in his own's way but everything always has"roots",and kids impressions often make a great influence on a person. Freddie was an artist-the most sensitive kind of ppl, he could tell good from bad distinctively!
@marinazi1 I can't remember where I heard Brian saying that, in some video, perhaps in a documentary. Like I said, different interpretations... and no, I don't think Freddie was the kind of person who could tell good from bad distinctively (I don't even know why you brought this up) Good that you weren't calling Brian a fool...that wouldn't be nice.
@TheJumpyPopcorn It's always this way ("I can't remember where I've heard...") when ppl say about Freddie's beeng a gay! Isn't it strange - what do you think? He obviously could tell good from bad - so intelligent, well-educated man, very well brought up in true religion. Everyone who'd worked with him noticed it (except those who envyed his talent& success) It's not good of you not to notice it - that wouldn't be nice.(LOL)
@marinazi1 Get this in your head as you seem in denial to me, Freddie was gay. You know shit about Freddie. I told you Brian said it, I don't make up stories. Unfortunately, Freddie was the kind of person "too good" and he had "hanger ons", people who were interested in him just because of his money, too bad he couldn't see it. I didn't say he wasn't intelligent, which he was, I'm his biggest fan. And please, spare me from your terrible irony, it makes you look like an idiot.
@TheJumpyPopcorn A little bit easyer, man! Shun't insulting me - if you are a fool, it's not my guilt! You've just demonstrated your narrow-mindness & no1 can help it. Let's stop arqueing - you ain't able to listern to & to comprehend to anything that didn't agree with your opinion DO have it - I knew about west ppl narrowness - but SUCH way! "Let them eat cakes"! Sorry for spending my time...Bye!
@TheRegulator81 Those have got to be my three favorite hidden gems. When I heard them I knew just what I had been missing before only listening to Queen's well-known songs.
Freddie Mercury.Brian May..Roget Taylor.John Deacon..you lived up to your name...Queen. Freddie chose this name in part cause it was regal..powerful..something absolute..this is Queen.4 men each a musical genius..masters of their craft. I consider myself fortunate.to have seen them live 3 times..they were amazing.from the first cord...to the first note of Freddie's...clear. perfect voice..you were taken on a musical journey.Their music will live on..Freddie.was a gem may he RIP
Why oh why did they never play some of their soft early pearls live?... Just like Nevermore, this song touches me a lot, and should have been given more attention.
@ReneeNme It's sad but true. Almost every good song isn't very liked by many. I think about sinead o'connor or jeff buckley or yes, queen, r.e.m.. The jewels are always hidden. And the good listener dig deep before find them ;D
Freddie rides delicately on the wings of the beautiful music of The Lily of the Valley. He is the celestial being who has become part of this Mystical song that explodes into our souls and sends us spinning and yearning for more. I just can't get enough of him! We adore you Darling Freddie!
Not only do I ever so love this song but I truly love this upload my friend. These pictures are so amazing. They capture the essence of Freddie and the amazing front man that he was. And his voice is just pure beauty that just peirces your heart. Queen was truly a phenomenal band. A One of a Kind band that once you heard them, you were forever hooked!! When I see these photos, the tears just flow. I miss him. R.I.P. Freddie ♥♥ Forever missed and Forever loved. ♥
Not sure whether it's a good or bad thing making a movie about Freddie, and especially about the later years as he was dying. Some things should remain private, and movies can cloud a viewer's perception of someone who can no longer defend themself. Rest in peace Fred
god i love him... i was like 7 when i saw the video for bohemian rhapsody and i thought they were greek gods, lol. and i grew up with their music, and their songs were like lullabies to me!
This is poetry I have that album (SHA) in CD, cassette and vinyl... relieve me for a while and cast me from your spell...let me go!!! =OMFG this is for you andrealopezv
I'm so excited :D My friend, the pianist of Great White (their most famous song is Once Bitten Twice Shy, you might've heard before) has the original, individual recording tracks of the Sheer Heart Attack Album! He's going to let me listen to it with him and he said the voice track is beautiful because you can really hear how amazing Freddie's voice was!
Best song, makes me cry... well no, but still, best song ever. Wish Freddie was still here, I would have done ANYTHING to meet him, but I don't care, cause I know I'll get to see him, I'm sure as hell...
this song has been stuck in my head for months. i love it :) it feels so nice to hear Freddie's voice in my head. its like he is telling my something special.
@flap84 Maybe that is significant somehow - lol, now I'm contradicting myself: "true fans will know"! But maybe it's not a song to do with the whole "Queen Craze", and remains more private, delicate, humble, etc. It speaks to many, but through this personal channel. Freddie could manoeuver between these states amazingly, so you get this intimate moment when it's like he's telling you something personally. Then he's off to his duty, where stuff like Rating weighs more.
@Politicalchick99 - Hi I met him when I was 9 years old in Glasgow - they were supporting Mott the Hoople - you know Freddie chased me away saying "he was in a hurry" but I never held it against him as Brian, Roger and John were lovely and took so much time to talk and sign autographs - lovely x
@totognao Mercury was the Roman version of Hermes, the Greek Messenger of the Gods, psychopomp (takes souls via the River) and patron of travellers, merchants, thieves and trespassers (has to do with crossing boundaries). The lily of the valley is placed under the dominion of Mercury, astrologically. The flower represents Mary's tears when Jesus was crucified, and the hope for the Second Coming. It's also called "Ladder to Heaven".
@soloremedee Rhye was Freddie's childhood wonderland of sorts--the place he thought up with his sister. The lily of the valley is someone he loved very much
@WhoaThereMama That's true. I've been searching for more info about this "wonderland", do you know any more? Sometimes it makes me sad Freddie was so secretive about everything, because nowadays people can understand and accept more than they did in those days (rather dark, the 20th century!). But all the knowledge I have of this wonder-world is through mythical resonances (Jung's collective theory). I'd be curious to know more about individual perception, how it began, etc...
@soloremedee Ya... Umm, you know, Freddie was not an elitist, and said so on a number of occasions. He didn't aim to create initiated elites, "true fans know the meaning!" but to connect to everyone. Every person knows ONE version of the meaning, even "true fans". To truly know the meaning you have to accept truth transcends imagined divisions between groups/classes, and this truth can be revealed to any one person at any time - or on the contrary, it can be obscured from you.
REmember playing this in 1974 after breaking up with my first serious girlfriiend Along with so dear friend it seemed an apt song to soothe those deep heartfelt teenage emotions when you think you will never fall in love again Thirty five years a wife and two kids later i still thank the genius of Freddie Mercury for getting me through my first low ebb Rest in Peace Freddie and Debbie Reid Wonder what your doing now!
i can't express myself the way i want, cos words are not enough..... Freddie is a gift from the Universe and I love him deeply for everything he was and still is. This song is a precious jewel, just like Nevermore....short,but very intense songs.
@423likeajewel LOL! "Eargasmic" that is a very cool word! Hehe. I'm glad he thought the very same about his public, energetically-speaking... that it was all better than.. Arr, some would describe this as evil, but if you think about it, everyone talks about "raising vibration" nowadays, and how that works. I consider it a gift.
@RudolfMaister Exactly! Me too! So cool to experience that! It conveys precisely the type of "boundary crossing" to another dimension, which this legend is based on - and that involves a dissolution of Ego.
This truly is one of their best. It's such an overlooked song, and I just can't figure out why. The whole "Sheer Heart Attack" album is just incredible. The stretch of "Tenement Funster", "Flick of the Wrist", and then "Lily of the Valley" is Queen at their very best!

one of the most underrated songs out there
flap84 1 year ago 4
@flap84 Maybe that is significant somehow - lol, now I'm contradicting myself: "true fans will know"! But maybe it's not a song to do with the whole "Queen Craze", and remains more private, delicate, humble, etc. It speaks to many, but through this personal channel. Freddie could manoeuver between these states amazingly, so you get this intimate moment when it's like he's telling you something personally. Then he's off to his duty, where stuff like Rating weighs more.

I sooooo wish I could have met him! He is by far the best singer, song-writer, performer, pianist of the last century and ever!

@Politicalchick99 - Hi I met him when I was 9 years old in Glasgow - they were supporting Mott the Hoople - you know Freddie chased me away saying "he was in a hurry" but I never held it against him as Brian, Roger and John were lovely and took so much time to talk and sign autographs - lovely x

isn't that flower a symbol of Mercury, the greek god?
totognao 1 year ago
@totognao Mercury was the Roman version of Hermes, the Greek Messenger of the Gods, psychopomp (takes souls via the River) and patron of travellers, merchants, thieves and trespassers (has to do with crossing boundaries). The lily of the valley is placed under the dominion of Mercury, astrologically. The flower represents Mary's tears when Jesus was crucified, and the hope for the Second Coming. It's also called "Ladder to Heaven".

@soloremedee Rhye was Freddie's childhood wonderland of sorts--the place he thought up with his sister. The lily of the valley is someone he loved very much
WhoaThereMama 1 year ago
@WhoaThereMama That's true. I've been searching for more info about this "wonderland", do you know any more? Sometimes it makes me sad Freddie was so secretive about everything, because nowadays people can understand and accept more than they did in those days (rather dark, the 20th century!). But all the knowledge I have of this wonder-world is through mythical resonances (Jung's collective theory). I'd be curious to know more about individual perception, how it began, etc...
slendersail 1 year ago
@soloremedee Ya... Umm, you know, Freddie was not an elitist, and said so on a number of occasions. He didn't aim to create initiated elites, "true fans know the meaning!" but to connect to everyone. Every person knows ONE version of the meaning, even "true fans". To truly know the meaning you have to accept truth transcends imagined divisions between groups/classes, and this truth can be revealed to any one person at any time - or on the contrary, it can be obscured from you.

423likeajewel 2 years ago 10
@423likeajewel LOL! "Eargasmic" that is a very cool word! Hehe. I'm glad he thought the very same about his public, energetically-speaking... that it was all better than.. Arr, some would describe this as evil, but if you think about it, everyone talks about "raising vibration" nowadays, and how that works. I consider it a gift.

Every time I listen to this masterpiece, I get goosebumps at 01:10 - 01:11. No other song has succeeded in doing that to me.

oh my god, your right
mishy234 2 years ago
@RudolfMaister Exactly! Me too! So cool to experience that! It conveys precisely the type of "boundary crossing" to another dimension, which this legend is based on - and that involves a dissolution of Ego.

This truly is one of their best. It's such an overlooked song, and I just can't figure out why. The whole "Sheer Heart Attack" album is just incredible. The stretch of "Tenement Funster", "Flick of the Wrist", and then "Lily of the Valley" is Queen at their very best!
