I think it's impossible to hear an excerpt of this to appreciate it. I do think the best version ever is Karajan's in 1977 with the BPO but only just ahead of this. This version has to be heard in full, without breaks, as high in volume as your ears can take it! It's truly stunning that way and the only movement where the lack of pace affects it is the 1st. It's personal taste I suppose, but I think this is stunning in full.
