  • I hate following the crowd

  • the more i heard ppl make fun of LRB the more I liked them

  • 1st taste of LRB, here in the states. They started hittin' the top 20, the next year, in '77, with, 'Help is on its way. God bless ya, for postin' this. Thanx! Have a blessed week!

  • Frigin long way to the You Yangs!! lol :)

  • I grew up thinking these guys were American, they still kick some serious ass though ;)

  • @Jgeneraledger23 aussie bands kicked serious ass during this period ... except Air Supply

  • @nzoz1976 SEE? Another band I thought was American! I agree though, AC/DC and The Bee Gees were awesome. I'm sick of feeling guilty about that, lets face it, the Bee Gees were awesome (did I just say that?) lol

  • @Jgeneraledger23 lol, actually they were good quality in the late 60's. I don't think of The Bee Gees as being Aussie - I just see them as being a British migrant band that returned to their homeland. They were, in Australia, what the Osmonds were in America (prior to their international break through). They were children that grew up in front of the Australian public and left Australia with a # single (Spicks & Specs) and moved on. I think BG's connection with Britain is far too great.

  • @Jgeneraledger23 Ah the Bee Gees were british. They were born there and they became famous there before they were famous in Australia but only thanks to another Australian Robert Stigwood who split with Brian Epstein because his Nems company would not promote them properly.

  • @nzoz1976 I didn't think AIR SUPPLY was so bad , come on its ok if you liked them a little bit , ;)

  • @Jgeneraledger23 That's only because of that faker Nelson. LRB invented west coast rock before the Eagles even thought of it and before Poco existed. They were the real deal.

  • This is proof that Australians and Kiwis have been attractive and talented since the beginning of time.

  • @queenpsycotic Thanx... the British would disagree...

  • VEVO SUCKS!

  • vevo shouldnt touch this

  • YES!

  • GOOD THING VEVO HAVENT FOUND THIS

  • @FordFiestaMK1 it'll happen one day :(

  • @nzoz1976 Doesn't bother me, I don't have ads......

  • @FordFiestaMK1 Screw VEVO! Their control freaks. If you were to ask the original artists they would surely appreciate any and anybody enjoying their art. "Live Free or Die!"

  • @FordFiestaMK1 -Hey Did you have a Ford Fiesta? I had a 1979 red one with a small rust spot on the tinny (remember that sound when you slammed the door)drivers side door. That car had 9 lives. I drove it from NY to Chicago in 1988 when I moved and that thing rattled like no tomorrow. But I loved that car. First car I purchased with my own money. Drove that car well over the 100,000 mile marker on the odometer. Awesome memories of the 80's

  • @1089jcw the fiesta mk1 is unfortunately gone, now i own a mk4, the mk1 was from 1982 it still lives on thanks to youtube check my channel to see

  • The lead guitar makes this song and they give him zero camera time.......

  • AC/DC, LRB, Air Supply. All made it big in the US. All great bands that deserved success

  • So Rick, are you saying that LRB and ACDC were a fluke? I'm guessing you AREN'T a musician.

  • absolutely brilliant music - such harmonious voices-magnificent band!!

  • One of the best bands ever!!! Blessed to have grown up with this type of music, true talent, God given talent!!!!!

  • nzoz... here you are again.... man .. I love love you and wait for the day we can have a beer together... cheers man

  • I love Little River Band and have for 35 years..... but have just really seen them, the lead singer looks like conway twitty's son!!! Still love em though

  • Why couldn't they have made this song much longer....I get tired of hitting the replay button

  • @luvmuzk They did. The original song is eight minutes an forty seconds

  • Dont really feel it, wheres a live version of this?

  • gator aint neer been about no shit

  • Not quite as excellent as the full version, but considering this one features the band in performance, one takes what they can get. (Would still love to see the full version done live, tho'...preferably with Glenn Shorrock at the helm...)

  • Weed.

  • Para mi es la mejor cancion de este gran grupo australiano, luego viene take it easy of me y reminiscing!

  • this song is a total groove ! mello with a serious edge

  • Haha this is a real band?

  • Gobble, Birtles and Shorrock were the best line up.

  • LRB deserved much more attention here in Australia than they received. Incredible harmonies, fantastic lead vocals by Glenn Shorrock. No wonder they went overseas.

  • Great song!

  • One of the best things to come out of Australia. Along with AC/DC and Fosters lager

  • A Kiwi arrived on Aus , shore and first song that welcomed a soul to Aus..

  • these guys are true talent, great band, thanx pop

  • Magic times with magic music...the Seventies....Hmmm!!!! these guys music just brings it all back...thank god for the LRB guys. ....just love it.

  • THE LITTLE RIVER BAND JUST GREAT MUSIC TO HEAR THANK YOU, LITTLE RIVERBAND FOR CREATING SUCH FAB ! MUSIC ! THANK YOU.

  • what ever happened to this group?they jammed out some good songs.

  • This song takes me way back to my youth, long summer nights and very happy times.

Even 35 years after hearing it for the 1st time, I never tire of listening to it.

  • saw them at the Herrinfest a few years ago........talented and still sound great

  • GREAT SONG! I first heard this when it came out in 76 and I had to have it. I rushed out to buy this album! What great vocals! LRB rock!! Unfortunatly this is the short version though.

  • GREAT SONG! I first heard this when it came out in 76 and I had to have it. I rushed out to buy this album! What great vocals! LRB rock!! Unforyunaltly this is the short version.

  • GREAT SONG! I first heard this when it came out in 76 and I had to have it. I rushed out to buy this album! What great vocals! LRB rock!!

  • u r racists,I liked these guys b4 i knew where they came from

  • ohhh, shit this man still and will forever do it for me, baby, baby, man

  • I hate generalizations...speak for yourself

  • dam they had good sounds and still do .

  • 1000***********

  • I saw The Little River Band in 1994 in Columbia Falls, MT. this huge outdoor concert was the first concert my children experienced, they had requested Happy Anniversary. It was so cool. This of course is one of my favorite songs by LRB, We met them after the show and I personally got a hug from Glen. A memory I'm very fond of. Thanks Little River Band for all the great songs and such a great concert. Love Your music very much.

  • cosmic effin' jam

  • F- Politics!!!

Music is art and art is subjective.

If any Government does like the music, it's up to the artist to get their "art" to masses.

    BTW.... L R B ROCKS.

Thanks to Will Ferrel's new movie, I am now reaquainted with this music.

    Aaron A. Castellon

    South Bay, CA USA

  • What can I say? Man, every time I here this song it takes me back to a great time when real musicians played. Little River Band - It's A Long Way There is a timeless song and the guitar playing is phenomenal.... Never to be forgotten!!!

  • to bad not the full 8 min version

  • Aussie's didn't support AC/DC at first, until they made it big, and knew they could bring in Millions to the country.

  • @Rick31797 Bullshit! AC/DC had a large following in Australia for at least 18 months before the group left Australia for Europe. Do you really think they would have gotten that much TV exposure and had the large audences that they had if the public didn't support them?

If you were an Australian that had been living in Australia in 1974 to 1975 and know what you're talking about, then I'll take back what I said.... but seeing as you're from Canada... I serioulsy doubt it.

  • @nzoz1976 What i meant was Government support , i am sure they had alot of fans But they had a hard time with the officals , Read the book AC/DC Maximum Rock and Roll, you will see what i mean.

  • @Rick31797 Aaah, that's the Aussie government, not Aussies... The Australian Government is and always has been conservative and boring and has founded the 'high art's over any other form of art in Australia. The only PM we had that was a benefit to the Australian music scene was Gough Whitlam, but he was retrenched in 1975. The music industry more or less shared the same conservative mentality, hence the reason why the majority of Aussie sixties music was boring...

  • @nzoz1976 I agree, AC/DC was big then. Bon Scott was ggreat. If you didn't own an AC/DC vinyl then, you were out. A great legend, a great rock band that put Oz rockon the map.

  • @nzoz1976 ac dc sucks

  • @lolokojo i'm not a fan of the band nor your comment.

  • @lolokojo Agree 100% ACDC lost all of their edge the day Bon died.

  • @Rick31797 I don't mean to be rude but that's a pretty idiotic comment. Sometimes when you don't actually know what you're talking about it's better to say nothing at all.

  • @poltome just taking the text from a book that AC/DC authorized..nothing idiotic about it,just because u dont like it, too bad for you, it is what it is, go cry some place else.

  • @Rick31797 This was one of the very best bands to ever perform on any stage and Concert venue in the world. THE BEST. How many years later and we are still singing their praises?

  • @stewbycr I never seen them, but a friend did in Toronto ,and he said they opened for the EAGLES and he and many of the others injoyed LITTLE RIVER BAND more, so that tells u something.

  • not a bad song

  • some smooth R&B with subtle hints of funk..yeah baby. Shorrock's range was superior to the other LRB leads no doubt, but i liked farnham's absolute control and power too.

  • i almost borrowed ( stole a car ) to see um in Springfield ma in 1978 from the farm i lived on in june in Connecticut I wish i did now

  • one of the greatest tunes ever

  • Glen Shorrock was the only significant singer with LRB. Even though his was the founder of the band he did have a certain sound and range to his vocals that stands out as much as the music does; LRD has a signature sound which was lost when Shorrock left the band; all other lead singers, after and before Shorrock, failed to bring the impact and tone needed to maintain the sound of LRB. Shorrock is still out there, however, his solo work is missing that LRB flair.

  • How did this poster get a great sound like this on this oldie? Thanks!!

  • Hit #28 in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in Australia, their homeland? God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg only # 35... how interesting. Aussies must have liked Supernaut more (see nzoz1976 for their insane # 1 hit 'I Like It Both Ways')

  • hey i found glen shorrock on an old paul hogan show dvd, he had another life....multi talented...

  • Those were the best days for music in my mind. What a great, great time to be a part of!

  • wow people talking and not fighting...how nice

  • What was the name of the loser who kept the name of the band and continued to tour with it in the U.S. even after all the original guys had left? What a f**** tosser!

  • @zapkvr THE ONE YOU ARE REFERRING TO IS STEVEN HOUSDEN

  • Check out The Twilights & Axiom for early Shorrock; Missisippi (Kings of the World) for Gobles and Birtles

  • I believe I had this in cassette and later CD.... a great album,... I know kind of corny to most folks.. but it was/is great for the times..

  • @Starlitblond For the times....are you kidding.....this music is still great, in fact it has no competition these days, it's greatest competition was in it's own era, the 70's and 80's.....that was the time to be a youngster....no wonder we had such genuine fun compared to today......just listen to the difference in music genre

  • LRB musically outpace and crank out harmonies more exacting than that of CSN&Y - any flippin' day of the week!!

    period, paragraph.

  • Damn straight. CSN did some good work but they are lost without Neil Young. LRB are the best

  • That was great, thanks for providing!

  • Who harmonized better? Maybe the eagles, bee gees....

  • Beach Boys, Queen!

  • @Farookhq17 agree...

  • Better than the eagles and bee gees!!!!

  • Completely agree! They certainly dont get thier due.

  • i only liked the band in the early days, 1977 with the original singer.

  • That's great but their finest album was No reins. John Farnham sang the lead vocals. Before you jump to any conclusions, I have ALL of their albums. I have been a fan since the very early days.

  • You didnt like Night Owls?!... Or did that come out before then?

  • "The Night owl" came out about ten years after this. There was never any band called Night Owls. I have all of the LRB recordings, all of them. On vinyl and CD.

  • @zapkvr I beg to differ ZAPKVR.....I just checked under my bed and you certainly don't have my vinyls so I guess you don't have all of them

  • for all the people who think they know why Glen left the band....Goble is the reason why...Glen could see the writing on the wall..you had the best LRB singer and band leader but that was not good enough...

  • somewhere in that crew, intelligence lacked.

  • this band is CLASS...also one of the best lead singers ever...rock on Glen

  • Always been my favorite song, since 9th grade at the skating rink...

  • I wish someone could create a time warp. I'd live in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s and stay there forever. Never entering 2000s. LOL

  • Mel Gibson 02:15

  • One of the best tunes ever. Turn it up!!

  • Great song, great guitar!

  • They are!!! LOL! This video Was produced in the late 70's!!

  • They look so young here.

  • Take a look at the video for 'Curiosity Killed The Cat' (on YouTube)... it's nearly looks like a different group of people.

  • it*

  • I have 2 cassettes with all their hits - every one a musical gem. The stuff with John Farnham doesn't shine quite as bright but it's still good stuff.

  • Damn, this song sound like it is CSN&Y. Damn it sounds so good.

  • this is a masterpiece!!!!!!! its a long way there, its a long way 2 where im going

  • Saw these guys in concert in "1983", they were great. Sounded just like their albums.

  • I just saw them!! They still sound just as good as their albums but better because they can extend the songs....and don't tell Air Supply I said this because I love them too......but LRV rocked them by a mile.

  • The so called new "LRB" are not the real band, there are no original band members from the classic lineup. The classic(real) lineup are featured in this video. Today's so called lineup only own the copyright for the name. They don't even have australian accents how fake is that?

To revisit the real band check out "BSG", these guys are who you see in this video.

You have a great taste in music, both the real LRB and Air supply are both fantastic Australian bands.

  • talented men

  • the long version is better....damn...

  • Aw, this is the short version...

  • Unfortunately so...

  • in HK, there's cover called "漫漫長路上" by George Lam in 1979

  • And his mouth too I think. Quite a likeness.

  • Is it me or does the lead look like George Bush?

In any case, I love this music.

  • No, but your mom has a big george Bush...

  • Geez ... with a name like BrassHole, I wouldn't be insulting anyone's mother...

  • There's a similarity, yes. The eyes in particular.

  • LOL i thought exactly the same thing when i started the vid!!. George Bush sang in a band???

  • hah i saw birtles in the jackson mississippi mall a couple years ago =o

  • I'm going to buy some LRB music. It's been a "long time" since I have listened to them. Thanks for helping them resurface on the net.

  • sorry I forgot the guys name(been a long time)

lead guitarist Ric Formosa, and he played on their first 2 albums (their best)

  • I think it was David Briggs on guitar culmie

  • Nope, sorry Arne :D It was Ric Formosa, I have the two albums (in vinyl no less!) right here in front of me in all their 70's glory!

  • B.Birtles might be a gr8 guitar player but he's not the guy playing the lead guitar in this shortened for radio version of a gr8 song

  • Can anyone put up a vid of their "The Man In Black"?

    It's a terrific number.

  • ...LRB (Little River Band), Under-rated, Under-appreciated & Under-Commendated....

  • These guys are SO talented, they put all other Aussie artists to shame.

I grew up with them, and never understood how they weren't more globally accepted - until I realized that people aren't basically interested in music for talent and skill; they just want entertainment and all the glam and image.

    Their loss.

  • These guys were huge in Canada at the time. I remember it quite well. We also took to Super Tramp before anyone gave a damn about them.

  • @kbdozz

True, Simon and Garfunkel said it in '66

"And the people bowd and prayed, to the neon god they made"

  • Beeb Birtles, great guitar player.

  • Ohhh man! I can't believe that song blessed our lives 33 years ago! Where does the time go? LRB has so many great songs, but this one is a favorite!!!! Their songs bring up memories of many great chapters of my life! Thanks for posting!

  • Hey, I was gonna write that - LOL. The classic LRB lineup is...classic...

  • Great song.

  • graet song

  • The 1st song fromthe 1st concert i ever went to. early November 1977.

  • This song is so powerful, and so remarkably excellent in so many ways. The drums, the lead guitar, the harmonizing...

LRB are some of the all time greats. Thanks for this classic...

  • Oh man this is the stuff right there. Why cant we have song writers like this anymore??

  • get crazy dad

  • my fav song of theirs and i love em all!

  • i luv this song when i went to georgia my dad kept singing thjis song and when they got crzy he got crzy it was embrassing it happened at school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=0

  • I saw LRB for the first time in 1977 at Calder raceway outside of Melbourne along with 70000 fans. It was freaking insane. This song was definitely a highlight.

  • In 1976LRB broke in the states out Jacksonville Florida with this incredible song care of Bill Bartlett and WFYV.....

I will always love , glen, david, beeb, derrcik and graham.Glen Frey told me they had the best harmonies of any rock band ever.....he was right.....

    Luthin, Captiol Records '76

  • Thanks for the info .....

    And the brag factor.

  • Birtles Gobles and Shorrock were a classic line up. Great songwriters to boot.

  • Red Robinson Show Theatre, Friday the 28th at 8 o'clock. I'm so excited!!!

  • excellent band

  • Whats wrong with the screen? Its unusually small could it be something to do with the video

  • can't rely on youtube.

  • I might know a way to fix this if ur interested

  • thank you... i've added it as a annotation too!

  • awesome :) I didnt realise till a couple of weeks ago that you can download you tube videos so i decided to some editing and upload them on you tube

  • Yes, BlueEyes, the 70s were good to Glenn. This is one of my favorite bands, and they are still performing in one iteration or another.

  • The Album track goes for 8 minutes.

  • aussietv2, you frightened me. I actually thought you were Natalie (Communicationchannel) making a comment on one of my videos (the Little River Band of all things).... ha ha

  • I am Natalie's evil twin.Also insipod. :)

  • this brings back warm memories even though i'm 17 my dad used to listen to them and america all the time

  • We will see how far!

  • that singer's CUTE!!
