  • Wow I had no idea its like this to pull off the glass. I just purchased a used 40D and the top LCD glass has some scratches...I wonder if the process might be the same for that.

  • Im from barcelona, and a repparation like that, was going to cost me 200$. Thank's to your video, i found a website to buy the LCD screen for only 20$

  • Do you think this method would work with a 60D, with the swively screen and all?

  • Thanks for showing.

In your research, did you come across a method for replacing the LCD itself? My LCD cover broke so badly it damaged the LCD as well :(

  • Just replaced it successfully as instructed.

I had been quoted £130 by a repair shop. They said the camera needed to be stripped down to replace the LCD cover (I don't think so).

Thanks again for saving me a lot of money!

  • will this work for a nikon d3100?

  • @gracie797123 Hi - I am not sure about the Nikon D3100, mostly because I have only ever used Canon DSLRs, and I am not an expert on LCD screen replacement! However, a quick google shows that replacement LCD screens for the Nikon D3100 can be bought from a number of sources. How the screen is attached to the camera and how you get it off is another matter. The fact that tool kits are sold with the screen seems to indicate a different approach with different tools is needed. Good luck!

  • Many thanks for posting this. I had tried to polish out a scratch on my EOS500D. Big Mistake - it removed some of the anti-reflection coating. Won't do that again!

Just ordered a new LCD cover, will use your video for guidance - better not have the hair dryer too hot!

  • Woohoo I am so getting that swiss army knife! This video is to proof how good swiss army knife is! Nothing can withstand that sharp blade of it :)

  • thanks man

  • Very good video, thanks a lot =)

  • Great Vid!! Lots of good info....... Do you think the process would be the same for a 60D? Just wondering because of the tilty screen.

  • @javinsac i just did it and it works

  • Wow and all of that is worth 100-150 dollars

  • I think you remove the white backing paper first, then place the entire thing into the window pressing it down so it sticks. Then, you can peel the large piece away leaving only the two-sided tape and you never had to wrestle with the tape. This is a very helpful video. Thanks.

  • Thanks so much for this video...Where can I purchase a screen for the5d mark II..?

    Any Ideas?

  • @elalis Hi - thanks for your comment, I am glad the video was helpful. I bought the screen and adhesive strip as a kit from the ebay outlet of US Camera (uscamera.com). I think it cost about $25. Try a search on ebay for "Canon EOS 5D LCD Display Window".

  • @PeakMansions Canon will sell you the parts, 1-866-481-2569. It's a replacement screen and adhesive strip. (2 parts.)
