The way I see it, humans have always been trying to find those answers, and when they don't have them, they make something up to not seem stupid (especially in the past) so god comes in. I'm a 33 year old and I am very proudly atheist. I know quite a bit about the monotheistic religions and yes God is a false belief, very new relatively(compared to the age of humanity) unoriginal in as far as it incorporates the beliefs of many previous societies and mythologies, even the stories in the bible are retelling older myths. If you look at the evolution of societies and the relationship of scientific advancement to change in religious belief in history it is clear.

What? This doesn't suggest that God did, or didn't, create the universe. Nor does it suggest that God does, or doesn't, exist. Though I do have to say that a lot of the details of quantum mechanics (especially wave function mechanics) as well as the convergence theory of biological evolution do seem to point to some sort of conscious entity running the whole show, but that's just speculation, really.
