I'm an 18 year old, living my life like most would have done 45 years ago... I just had to handle for the first time, a loved one passing away. After crying by myself, I turned on the Grateful Dead and was smoothly put into a peaceful state of being and able to get a grip on the entire situation. Thankfully music will always be there to make life better.
Music that could calm even the most turbulent morning, and only music that's welcome to my hangover-ed head. (and i only drank half a damn beer) this music along to sensitivity to poisons helps me remember why i usually stick with entheogens, heh.
@GratefulDeadWarrior There's still some great music being made out there. Take a listen to Deb Talan, also of course Eddie Vedder (with and without Pearl Jam).
Hey I took LSD when I was twelve and I was honored Valedictorian. I just turned 30 and I am doing just fine. Let your love light shine! My advice: Stay far away from the white horse.
@rainbowcolorsblend well aren't you just smart kid. Being a Dead head doesn't mean you have to do drugs. Take my personal advice, keep your head clear and clean. 12 and dropping acid, keep it up and you'll be dead by 20. Good luck
I cry every time I watch this concert. Miss me some good old Grateful Dead. This is the best Bird Song ever and the Franklin's Tower from that show is also the best I have ever heard.
when the world gets crazy awful I come back to you...and my head spins back into place... neverending thank you jerry....I wish my child could have seen you...don't you cry dry your eyes on the wind lalalala
An anthem for the mind and possibly the most beautiful Grateful Dead performance I have ever heard is this specific version of this song. Jerry is belting this with absolute soul. Wish I could have the chance to have seen him.
@iddn Try listening again. THE most popular touring band ever, playing an acoustic set in NY. It is so quiet, compared to other rock concerts. The one part where the audience does explode is near the end of the jam (where bob is nodding his head). The audience is paying close attention, as all the musicians come together. And suddenly, the music has a way of ripping screams out of you. The Dead and their audience live for these moments. As Bob says at the end, "we are having some fun now."
@GeezerYoung Yes, it's called "Dead Ahead" and has accompanying official release Albums, the acoustic release came out under two different names"Reckoning" (as in Dead Reckoning, and old catch phrase), and also "For the Faithful". The electric release is called Dead Set. All are culled from Warfield & Radio City Music Hall 1980 Fall tour. Some tremendous stuff from an often overlooked period
you got that right.....without the dead the world would be missing something.....see all things beautieful and bright when ya can my friends........iron matt
Without the truth, there can be no real morality, justice, equality, success, freedom, love, security, peace, spirituality or even survival. Search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says to learn the truth of life.
@GodStarRevisited69 - I think Jerry would give you a butt whoopin for saying such a thing! You should listen to "Cold Jordan" and "My Brothers and Sisters". He sang about "taking Jesus as your daily guide" and "we can all be together when we make it to the promised land" "we can walk together with the Father and the Son."
This is such a great band, great track. Just checked out a really awesome track you may like if you dig this search " Pai Crowd, The Music Video,,,Groove•O•Ly•O•Scene "
back then, Janis Joplin was viewed pretty much the same way Amy Winehouse was viewed now...only rehab wasn't a household word ...(Betty Ford hadn't gotten to the White House yet.). Obviously Janis's work was a bit more impactful, but not 'everybody' was a star back then either...No Karaoke, talent shows the likes of today...but Janis only put out a couple of albums, and Pearl was posthumous.
I'm deadicating this to Amy, just for today...kinda like she lived.
@daithesceptic Hi David I am here because of your comment on Amy's interview. I was not familiar with this song-thanks for introducing me to it. Its really nice and appropiate.for both Janis & Amy. My closest pal, also a David, encouraged me to listen to Amy's music. He passed away last year; so Amy's passing had a big impact on me. Thanks. :) Deb
@southrules For Workingman's Dead and American Beauty Garcia played vintage Martin D-18 and D-28 guitars. The guitar in the video looks to me like a Martin.
I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose from the grave to give me life. I know You are the only way to God. So now I want to quit disobeying You and start living for You. Please forgive me, change my life and show me how to know You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
A perfectly amazing band!!!! And I am proud to say, they are from my hometown...San Francisco!!! My mom and dad were deadheads, and so am I. The Dead always stayed so true to their form of hippie or bohemian country-rock style. It's really hard to classify it if you think about it, eh? Great video...thanks for posting!!!
