@MegaDarkAro those arent gar. the needlefish is in that same family but get nowhere near as big. i had an alligator gar until just recently now i have a needlefish. not as cool IMO but still entertaining. gar arent really brackish by nature but the alligator gar is just at home brackish or fresh because they live mainly in the deep south. large gator gar have actually been found out to sea several miles due to their high tolerance to salt water.

I have 2 in a 55 gallon aquarium. 2 months ago I had over 300 guppies, one has nearly doubled in size since I got it and the few guppies that remain now hide in some grass i placed under a castle these are ruthless killing machines and worth every penny.

lol's give the feeders a chance. I have like some very heavily planted areas in the tank for the feeders to hide, but when they swim out they gotta be cautious lol's.

yes u can keep them in a 65 heck u can keep more than 2 maybe 4 or more they only get like 8" to 10" and im pretty sure there legal in australia

ya i feed them every other two days. they go crazy on the minnows. just put the minnows in the tank ( no goldfish, goldfish are bad) and back away from the tank, they'll eat them throughout the day. its better to have more than 1 together because they like to live in schools. hope this helps, let me know

i got 1 for 13$ he was cool but he wont eat anything besides LIVE fishhe got a koi and 2 or 3 rosey reds but he wont eat frozen fish so idk the pet store lady told me he would but he doest so i just got some fish in a bowl and i will feed him once ever other day or so but hes cool and hes a smaller fish and i got AGRESSIVE pacus in there with him and they dont even mess with him so u no he meand business

I'd say no... mine are in a 55 gal - they grow pretty fast so unless youre planning on upgrading soon then i would definitely no try to keep them in something that small - when i got my first needle he was in a 10 gallon and he needed a bigger tank fast

i just bought only 1 needlefish in my 10 gallon tank! it ate my 3inch goldfish. i have 10 fish in my tank! 2 neon swordtail,1 red belly pacu,2 crayfish,1 giant danio,3 gourami,and some feeder fish=goldfish.

2 of our needles are getting close to a foot so we usually put in 30 every 5 days or so. They actually beat up 2 of our gourami's because they were hungry (and they eventually died...) so we learned to keep them well fed all the time.

they will get about a foot long - the big one in the tank is currently around 7 inches
