If you want to know if your knife technique really works, smear lipstick/chalk down the edges of a wooden knife and have the attacker work quickly/mercilessly and giving little of there balance. You'll soon learn how you'd fair in a real situation. I suspect almost all of us would get 'cut' to pieces. There's no shame in that, its just a reality check. In almost any situation going unarmed against a knife is suicide, whether your technique is good or not.
That depends also on who is the attacker.Professional martial artist are not running in every street want to kill people with a knife. For an average street thug may one slap to the eye or face is enough to make him drop the knife.
Wado is a terrific blend of strikes and grappling/throws. In any karate style, the uke always gies with the technique lest he/she suffer an injury trying to resist.
Ignorant people don't know that when someone with a knife attacks a budoka of Jujistu styles/arts that the defender will keep their distance to force the attacker into a deep projection, but move obliquely off the line of the attack to a position where they have access to the weapon. When nage's atemi comes up, nage's feet disappear and not even an infinite YouTube peanut gallery can see the magic of good tai sabaki.
it´s funny how these guys just touch them and the student (from respect) flys in the air...as if by magic,,,lol you just gotta look at Aikido and you know that in a street fight they got no chance.
He was a mstudent of Gichin Funakoshi but I read in a martial arts book called From lee to Li that he disagreed with Funakoshi always concentrating on kata. so he started Wado Ryu.
Filipino martial arts doesnt work in real life.Nobody will attack you with kerambit or use sharong or what ever.and all the drills are useless..i study them and i know
Ask your teacher, look for seminars and maybe even another teacher. It's teached and trained, as is tachidori, idori and the like. Though ohyos and kihons are fundamental.
As a long term practitioner of filippino bladearts I can say with some authority that the only way you can beat the crap out of someone with those techniques is if the attacker is another wado-ryu practitioner. In a dojo. With a blunt knife.Preferably.
wow looks like you have been wasting your time not learning a damn thing. you have no clue as to what you are talking about. You should not comment on arts that you do not practice or know about. That is Demo speed Dumbass. Go back in your cave and stay there plz.
Yeah, the speed is what Im referring to. Right. Exactly....Go back to your dojo and stay delusional, idiot. Just for shits and giggles, go check what people who train with live blades do when unarmed against the knife...go ahead, unless youre so braindead that you dont even acknowledge the fact that your art doesnt cover weapons properly...
To be fair, A filipino blade art practitioner isn't all that common, and it definitely isn't the same as a punk with a knife. but the people that know a knife art like zipota(or any) are rather slim.
No, I dont mean that you would be attacked by a filipino knife artist, lol. But its a "natural" style, evolved around how people actually fight. If their good. F.ex. watch tapes from prison knife attacks. Fast, furious, singer-type relentless stabbing FROM CLOSE RANGE.Not like these videos. and to acerwk, nice art, learning how to beat people to death with kicks to the head of a downed opponent.f.ex...twat.

@Epochofeno Most of us can only do our best to prepare for a bad situation and be a bit lucky.
