What a fucking asshole. Totally irresponsible, this could permanently blind the stupid cat, and cause any reflective eye damage to the idiot owner too. So not use powerful lasers indoors, play with them outside if you have to. Stick to the 1mW ones you fucking dick.
the ir can do invisible damage to your eyes even when ur not pointing it directly to ur eyes. I once had some eye damage for a day and it was terrible i saw colors in red for 1 day abd when i closed my eyes i could still see a red spot
lol XD, I got a question too on the site at green lasers there is a 50mW with the price $16.84 and one of $20.90 are these exactly the same? and can I get it in euro's too cuz I live in the netherlands :o and i want the 50mW
maar voor paypal hebik toch eeen ander kaartje nodig ofzo?? en heb jij die dan van 20 of van 16 dollar want ze zijn precies het zelfde alleen die prijs is anders toch?
one has bad qulity on might be out of focus one might be plastick on might use special atterys onemight be ir one might have a bunch of safety stuff the cheaper one can probably blind you easily
Hey im not sure if you know this, but 50mw green lasers are pretty hardcore and the ones from dealextreme do not contain an IR filter to keep them low price.
That basically means that without eye protection, 50mw on the green spectrum will be doing lasting damage to your eyes, nevermind the cats.
You can see this effect if you point the laser at a wall at an angle and the sparkling effect you view is rays of laser reflected directly into your eyes.
All light you see consists of rays going directly into your eyes. Beware!
Also, the output on DX lasers doesn't even reach its marketed value when it peaks .5 s after turning on, 50mW being the combined power of the green and the IR.
Finally, 50mW won't cause permanent eye damage. Not to say be careless, but neither the laser user nor the cat would come to harm, even shining directly into the eyes.
cool, i got true so mine is more powerful yay. one moer question, can you see the, i dont know how to call it, like the line coming from the laser, can u see that during the day
All my life, my eyes was at the best (I mean 1.0), now, after using the laser awhile, I have to ride on a car, I was checked my eyes again, and.... Now my eyes only 0.7 :( I was quite surprised... So really, be carefully people!
Hm that doesn't sound good.. I think I'll cancel my plans of buying one on DX. My sight is, perhaps even more than anyone else's, very important to me.
iCookie, if you are that concerned about IR purchase an IR filter for about $10 and glue it to the inside of the aperture cap. Quality DPSS lasers (eg NovaLasers, LaserGlow) already come with filters.
IR radiation from your 50mW pointer is harmless after ten feet or so anyways since it has massive divergence. It has been proved that the True 50 and the True 30 from DX actually have the filter. If you are still in doubt or don't feel like DIYing a filter in, you can buy goggles that block 808nm and 1064nm (the wavelengths for the pump diode and single-stage IR respectively) so you will have no troubles with light you cannot see.
I've ordered a 30 mw laser and plan to use it just to annoy people, but even I can see that you could be damaging that cats eyes. Wow be more responsible.
yea i got a 20mw laser from dx and its gunna be a week tommorow i hope i get tommorow so i can pot mod it and turn it into a real powerful lazer!!!!!!!
It HAS IR filter, and isnt so powerful cuz of IR filter! And as I said, that was just a TEST to show the beam quality and the cat reaction. I NEVER point at any live object anymore. I know the risk of lasers radiation and power!
Unfortunately for the cat, you are the owner! Why should any animal have to suffer at the hand of ignorance, you are killing its eyes every time you do that. And by the sound of the goofy laugh, this is a common occourance. 1mw or less is the safe number. DX lasers have a shitty IR filter at best, maybe you should stick your face 4 inches from the floor and stare at it for a while. Cats eyes are designed to see with less light, youve already taken that away from it permenently. GOOOOOF!
johnyrinsma yes, I can see beam VERY good. But I broke my laser now ^^ and ordering True 30mW now.. Its more better than 50mW :) Well, at least people saying that :P.
Main doesnt light matches or pop baloons even if im using new Energizer batteries with magnifier :(. But beam is VERY bright, I can see it clearly in 3 km on the wall!

Dude... Use simple red laser pointers to play with your cat. The eyes can get damaged! No joke!
tomasson05 1 year ago
That is endangering your cat.
Never point a >5mW laser at an animal. If you want to play with your cat use a <1mW keychain red

omg you should try making a laser :O i bought a 20 mw module from DX and its stronger than the 50mw true (i have it to)
maximilli111 1 year ago
you should use a 5mw red laser the green 50mw is really unsafe

You shouldn't use such powerful lasers around animals (or humans), if you want to use a laser, it should be a really cheap, really weak red laser.

The laser comes from top to the floor and the eyes of a cat can't see in that angle the Laser Source.

Lasers like that are dangerous. Even if you don't look directly at the laser, it can still hurt your eyes due to IR-radiation.

cats reflect light twice (hence why they see well in the dark)..... meaning double the laser damage (y)
