Love Roy. What blows me away is how he wears the axe up like that. Sign of old school training, more modern players wear lower to avoid stress on the wrists. having learned both, the higher position is good for burning rubber over the twelfth fret but makes for uncomfortable chording in the lower registers.
Makes me wanna Fender. If I could have Roy, too, to play it. I never got to see him play live. Thanks for this wonderful opportunity. Roy rules, man! :)
@karennorwegian I saw Roy twice+got to meet him and the band at the Electric Ballroom in Dallas. Nice dude We hung out and had a few beers. He liked his beer.

making it cry like a pedal steel to just beatin' the hell out of it, to doing enviable runs with just his left hand. Jeff Beck says Roy is the best ever. period. That's huge.
He once sad: I am half wolf. Had song titles like: I am evil. He knew that he had a very dark and moody side.
His tragic death did not surprise me at all. As opposed to the suicide committed by Danny Gatton. They had not too much love between them. Two giants who never really made it to the top of the success they both wished to have.
Greatest string bender ever. Remember all too well where I was when I heard on the radio that he had hung himself in the Fairfax County Jail after a drunk in public arrest. Broke my heart.... He was the King the DC blues scene in the 70's and 80's. God and those above are privy to some of the greatest.... See you al soon...
