Personally, Shadow's death was even more painful than Aerith's. With Aerith, you can just swear to kill Sephiroth, and actually do it, but Shadow sacrificed himself to save the world. He returned but.....While you weren't aware he is still alive, it was quite shocking.

I honestly think the reason this game was so good is because there was so much put into the story. I was so sad when he died and stayed up all night thinking about the whole thing when I was little. The game didn't even feel like a game and you felt like you were right there with everyone....Wow I really miss this game.

Of course, he wasn't, but...still. It's still a beautiful scene and sacrifice. The fact that he came back doesn't change that.

From 1997 'til 2001, hands down the best games were released. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 7-9, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Ape Escape and so much more great titles. In these five years, videogames were at its best. We rarely see gems like that nowadays.

Wow, Sega really knows how to be sympathetic. They made you feel sad when Shadow died, feel sorry for your chao when you're about to give him away, made you want Sonic and friends to stay in the real world for alitle while longer in Sonic X, and in Sonic DX, when the world is saved,and Choas became the owner of the lovely chao. :')

@DigitalSolaris I didn't either. But sence me and my brother both have chao, we have our own gardens. My bro had the Hero, and I had everything else. But once, my BEST CHAO ended up in his garden. And I have no clue how. I asked him: Where's my chao? He said: I said good-bye to him. I then gathered up all my friends (th ones who knew what chao were) and had a memorial for him. This song was playing in the background.

@74SonicMario Actually the shadow that was in sonic heroes is the shadow from sonic adventure 2. He was rescued by a medic bot from eggman as he was falling to earth. Eggman tells you this is shadow the hedgehog which comes after sonic heroes
