I was reading a book called "A company of Hero's" By Marcus Brotherton and he interviewed the family, and searched through the records, and He found the truth out about the rumors. 1). People said he shot one of his own men for being drunk. He did shoot one of his Sergeants, but It wasn't for being drunk. It was actually a very good reason. 2). Nobody really knows if he shot any German prisoners, but the order was take no prisoners. So yeah make your own decision If he did or did not.

He killed a Dog Company soldier. They were doing a Rolling Artillery Attack. This means the American Artillery leads the way for the infantry. Speirs stopped the platoon, because he feared they were getting to close to the Artillery. A squad leader ignored his orders Twice, due to fatigue and disorientation. So he shot him between the eyes.

@PATTON1395 In freedom of information released he did kill the prisoners, they were members of the SS, regardless of that fact the army didn't pursue charges as he proved he was the biggest asset they ever had, the rule for the airborne was back then they didn't have the luxury at times to hold prisoners...so a blind side was taken to the Geneva Convention. regardless he lead by initiative not by a book that unfortunately most of our boys have to follow in modern warfare.

It also makes sense since it was only at the beginning of the war when it happened to which during that time, they don't have any use for any german prisoner. and not to mention they are liability more than an asset.
