THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEOS ON A TREMENDOUS HORSE, WHAT OTHER RECORDS THE THE GREAT FOREGO WOULD OF HAD IF HE DID NOT HAVE TO CARRY HEAVIER WEIGHTS, HE IS IN MY TOP TEN PERSONAL STABLE, THANKS FOR THE GREAT MEMORIES, JUST LIKE THE OWNER SAID HE TOOK CARE OF US, NOW ITS TIME WE TOOK CARE OF HIM, TELL ME THE OWNERS DONT LOVE THERE HORSES..................JHS64
I bet against Forego in Woodward and Marlboro, thinking Honest Pleasure would surely hold on. He had so much weight, and even the track was supposedly against him (mud) in Marlboro. I had to tear up my tickets, but I became a huge fan after that,, and loved seeing him loom and then chug down the outside running down horses to win. Not the same game any more.
I saw Forego race quite a few times in the 70's. In my opinion Forego is the greatest race horse I ever saw race and arguably the greatest race horse of all time.
@patteel Forego is my favorite horse also. I admire Zenyatta; Zenyatta's running style is quite similar to Forego's, but after careful comparison of their respective race records, I am confident that Forego was just plain faster at all distances (and let's not even think about the weights). However, I agree, all Forego fans should feel happy to have had a chance to watch Zenyatta. Saying that a horse isn't quite on the level as the Mighty Forego is no knock.
ok i'm going to cry now... no movie can do justice to this -- the one horse where the sheer gravity of FACTS overwhelm you more than 'the story'... no horse, no man, nothing like forego... oh and PS someone should have told jack whitaker forego beat j.o tobin too.. thank you very very much for posting this
WOW! Charles David Anderson could not have called the finish in that '76 Marlboro anymore perfectly, while Dave Johnson wasn't sure who won on the house call.
Fantastic! I remember clearly watching the 1976 Marlboro Cup on TV, cheering wildly as this magnificent horse came charging down the middle of the track to nail a great 3YO in Honest Pleasure!
An equine freight train. Forego had tremendous tenacity and fortitude. Despite being heavily handicapped during his career Forego was a fighter. He dug deep and could always summon that steely resolve to win when a lesser horse would've called it quits. You don't see this in racing today. Forgeo leaves a wonderful legacy for racing fans. A credit to his trainer and owner for retiring him when they did. Thanks for uploading.
thank you for this video.............

"What if".
What if Secretariat would have broke down instead of Ruffian etc.
I really enjoyed this video...but I'm really wondering why people have to know which is the best horse... ._.

I agree. Mr. Anderson really knew his stuff, and his call was terrific, as usual :)
Take care.
