  • These Ghosts have been working for free. I wonder if they know the mine is closed.

  • @joesingle - Its the kind of job that never ends.

  • Glad to share..I am a docent up there and have had mnay experiences...:)

  • The bodies were stored in the Washoe Club until the ground thawed and could be buried...fact.

  • Good to know, our group will be visiting VC again May 29th, we have the 2nd floor of the washoe reserved for investigating (I think it's second-normally off limits to people). We will also be visiting other places... My 3rd time there and 1st at washoe and our groups 5th and 2nd time at Washoe. Last time there were a few drunken singers in the bar that messed wit hthe invest. Though some things were recorded.

  • This is not the Famous Yellow Jacket Mine in Southern Arizona. This looks to be Nevada or Utah. Why would someone put this on Investors Hub about a mine of which this is not? Am I soup yet?

  • I have no idea what Investors Hub is and you are right this is not in Southern Arizona (I am guessing someone mistakenly placed a link to it) as it plainly states (in the information section and video itself) it is in Virginia City Nevada and it IS named the Yellow Jacket Mine (there are several shafts into it.) The famous Comstock Lode of Sierra Nevada is also related to it. That aside what did you think of the sounds?

  • boo!

    you're not scared are you?

go find out what it is.

  • No one was scared just very curious do you know the area? It's dangerous at any time. Sink holes, pits, rusted metal, drops, open & poorly sealed shafts, crumbling rocks, old machinery etc, all the detritius you would find at an old abandoned mine. We did look, during the daytime as well as night, been back there a few times and found nothing to explain the sound. The way sound carries and bounces around the man made canyons makes it nearly impossible to locate a source at the best of times.

  • Hi I stayed at the hotel at gold hill. i never belived in gohsts till then. My family and i went in to room 5. Williams room. The one next to Rosies. When we went in we greeted him. Then there was a noise. Then all of the doors opened and shut. It was flipin scary.

  • We tried to get a room there when we went the second time but it was fully booked, we stayed at the "Grey House" just down the road from there. If you get a chance rent the Miners Cabin our group leader did this last time and captured some interesting audio coming from the shaft. I envy you, I want to stay there next time I visit.

  • @zinka555

A few yrs ago we spent the night in rosies room it was winter. We were the only ones in the hotel that night and my wife swears while in bed somethin' was tugging on her toe. Gold hotel is a great place to stay, the old yellow jacket mine is right behind the hotel sealed up of coarse and the locals are really nice.

  • I've lived next door to the Yellow Jacket for a good bit now and twice I've heard strange sounds coming from the open pit behind my house. Just weird nobody can ID what they are or where they come from.

  • Our group recently re-visited VC, and timed the visit for the same time (a year later) as this recording was made, however we didn't hear these sounds this time 04-01-08, we did capture others though. I found out that the Yellow Jacket is a huge network of abandoned mines and shafts, the area where we got the recordings is just one of them. I think it would be awsome to live near there, if possible try to record the sounds you hear. I look forward to my next visit to the area.

  • one of your more intense ones iwas waiting for signs of anything and got creeped by some sounds nice work

  • Thanks, yeah when it's almost pitch black and you know your alone it can get very intense. When I visited these mines a few months later it was just as dark and windy but no machine sounds. Knowing the history of the place, the Mine fire the 45 people who died there and the 3 bodies never brought to the surface it can get pretty creepy. I look forward to my next visit.

  • O.O...
