  • Made possible only through the use of oil, but oil production has been in a plateau since 2005.

  • Africa is a myth.

  • 'poverty prevents people buying food'. So Adam Smiths supply and demand has nothing to do with not being able to afford food. Not enough supply and too much demand. Blimey who are these people making these videos. Their logic is has holes you could drive a truck through.

  • @dancedissadent2 -

these people making the video are Catholics...

  • Key causes of hunger: Don't forget bad government. Most of Africa's nations are ruled by dictators, and Somalia is basically an anarchy.

  • overpopulation is the root cause of "the real problems that we actually have". war is the result of malthusian pressure. poverty is economic measurement of overshoot. infrastructure is limited by resources like metals and fuels. Technology is powered by oil which will run out.

  • theres eenough food produced every year for 11 billion people currently

  • @grey9438 ... under fossil fueled conditions. Without fossil fuels, earth will feed 2billion max.

  • @walter0bz assuming we are not able to find alternative energy sources, which is achivable.

  • @grey9438 - alternative energy (solar) subtracts from farmland, up until now fossil fuel added to it. Always look at energy first, then the world makes sense. money is a social construct that doesn't relate to resources, e.g. they can print it out of thin air.

It would be foolish to ignore the contribution of millions of years of stored solar algae accumulation that gave us the modern age. we are still limited by nature really.

  • @grey9438 - it would take a true breakthrough like fusion or asteroid mining to replace oil. it would be unwise to assume these are guaranteed.

these require gambling ("investing") of huge existing resources, i.e. diverting them from subsistence into research projects with no garauntee of success - present knowledge or technical capability is insufficient, so nothing is guaranteed.

  • @grey9438 - summary: show me the alternative energies *working* before banking on them to feed your kids. otherwise they face a fight to the death to be amongst the 0.5-2billion survivors. Only the worst elements of our species will survive, the most brutal, the most callous, those willing to preemptively kill of the other 5+billion. I prefer a 1child policy personally.

  • - I have a practical issue with this video. Yes, I agree that politics in many cases exists, which in turn causes food shortages. But what's your solution to this? Is is to encourage more births out of protest (and then see them starve)? So, if I'm a poor woman in a developing country where militants are holding food, should I have a baby in an effort to force them to provide me food? The US cannot go in and force the issue, so there's a reality there.

  • This video is dangerous disinformation and also uses a straw man argument to make out those that "believe" in overpopulation seem silly because there is enough food right now. A larger population means a higher impact from shortages of oil (which drives modern agriculture). Those that fear overpopulation do not claim that there is not enough food right now, they simply fear that if trends continue and/or peak oil happens, there will be massive food shortages beyond impact with less population.

  • this video is so pretentious I smell Republicunts

  • STOP HAVING KIDS IF YOU CANT AFFORD THEM.

  • @1800Beatdown Kids cost money?

  • @1800Beatdown if you can't afford to love them... you mean ?

  • Edible insects are the future of mankind. mmmmmm...bugs

  • @AynManRand most insects are edible

  • So please.. Stop assuming that technology and petroleum will solve every single problem. However, on the bright side of things, all of the ignorant pieces of human filth such as yourself with die when our pretty little economic structure collapses, because you are simply so ignorant that you will be completely unprepared and in shock. So please, when SHTF, just run to your grocery store and stock up, I'm sure that'll save you and you family. Fucking idiots. You're blind and already dead.

  • @qualmar And you really are an incredible scientist and know stuff. Keep drinking the Kool Aid buddy.

  • All of your idiotic videos relate to petroleum consumption, yet you never consider the fact that we don't have infinite oil. For example how do you think we develop GMO seeds to make more abundant food, transport food across the globe so people can actually get it, irrigate fields, fertilize fields, plant fields, harvest fields, etc. Every step of the way is only done because of oil. You will never confront that one basic factor, because it will discredit your invalid, idealistic presumptions

  • Sharing, Justice and Peace will save the world from starvation, injustice and war.

  • africa has plent of water, just not clean water, just clean the water.

  • You have to remember that when they say "modern technology" or "modern agriculture" they mean OIL. Oil is used to run every part of modern society, from the petrochemical fertilizer used to grow modern agriculture to the distribution network for the food.

Exactly when the oil will run out cannot be determined, but it doesn't even have to run out to disrupt the whole world. It merely has to become too expensive.

  • @neveragaineverever Google "Abiotc oil".

  • @neveragaineverever oil can never run out, why? it's not a fossil fuel

  • @mechanicalbu11 Oil takes hundreds and thousands of years to "make" under the earths surface... after this batch is gone, its gone for alongggg time.

  • @sweetsteph3 as far as i know Russian experiment made oil from the raw materials. it took more energy to make but the experiment was to prove oil is not a fossil fuel. Also i am not sure you are making the correct assumption on the time factor. oil could only take a few years under the right conditions with the ideal pressure and heat deep within the earth.

  • @mechanicalbu11 so there is a way for humans to create the ideal pressure and heat within the earth?

  • @neveragaineverever About 3 of my professors, 1 being a sociologist, another being an environmental scientist, and last being a Math professor... they have alll told me it will be less that 40 years when the oil runs out... just wanted to share that with you :)

  • Comment removed

  • @neveragaineverever Last time I checked naature grew crops perfectly fine without oil. You're just another westerner, western thought is standing in the way of progress- so basically you're probably a white dude. We've had enough shit outa you

  • @bartguys Agree, Studies on using wastes more efficiently and improving the microflora and microscome living in or on topsoil will feed the world. Studies on moon interaction of water within matters and plasma electric universe studies will change our world and all this new enlightements will feed the world and its soul without the need to sweat or use a single drop of wasteful oil or gases! We are destroying natures near magical ways to sustain us all!We are fools in parasites game!

  • @bartguys - yes, nature fed 1.5billion people without oil and 0.8billion people without coal.

so long as we can get the population back down to those numbers the future survivors can indeed live without oil. For most of recorded history, world population was 100m's , not billions.

  • There is CURRENTLY enough food for everyone to be well fed. But even with just 1% population growth, it would only take 70 years for the population to double in size. We're growing the food on less land because of PETROLEUM fertilizers, and we're running out of oil incredibly fast. Everything in modern farming requires oil. Fertiliser, machinery, shipping. And to add to that, the industrialised methods for farming erodes the soil at a massive rate which is utterly unsustainable.

  • @amonaghan 1. That has always been the argument. CURRENTLY we have enough food but we won't in the future. But it has yet to come true. In fact it has turned out that the opposite is true. Food production grows faster than population growth. 2. We are not rapidly running out of petroleum. There is less easy to refine petroleum. But there is more known overall petroleum reserves in the world than ever. 3. Industrial farming is doing just fine on the same land it has been on for decades

  • i like eating lots of poop and peepee. I never brush my teeth. poop is good

  • i like eating toilets

  • Thanks so much PRI for these great videos! People are the worlds greatest resource!! The earth was made for us, not we for it. Of course we need to take care of what God has given us, but that doesn't mean giving into the sick idealogy that people are parasites.

  • What happens when oil becomes scarce?

  • @clintcastle we have cars that run on water, but the goverment does a good job at keeping that secret because if we start using cars that use the hydrogen of water the oil companies will fall than the us dollar will fall, than the euro and pretty soon there might be a economic crisis

  • I dont know why videos like this exist. Its a shame. Even if we were to get rid of all the problems stated in the video as to why there is widespread hunger there still would be an increasing problem. We are over populated, we are exhausting our environment, and the more our population increase the more demand and the more harvesting needed. Animals have just as much right as we do to live. All this cultivation is increasing non-renewable usage and ultimately when we run out, all falls down.

  • @InfamousJW Where do you get your information from?

  • @InfamousJW fail

  • @InfamousJW the envoirment is renewable we chop down a tree 15 years later it comes back up again, and we have others ways of harvesting energy we dont have to be dependent on oil, look dude stop being selfish and share the world with everyone because less people equals more poverty

  • @turgore

So you want to commit mass genocide because theres to much traffic on the way to work? well why dont you get started and go fucking off yourself, you peabrained, egocentric chode?

If you would stop thinking exclusively about your tiny little existence, you would realize that human potential is INFINITE. Thus, the more people we have that are living up to their full potential, the better off we will ALL be. First however, we need to destroy the "machine" that has enslaved us.

  • good video. Im sick of these closet eugenecist nazi fucks telling everybody we need to commit genocide to become sustainable. People will state this as if it is FACT and get away with it. thank you for destroying this inhumane presumption.

  • lo ve it

  • Hear my point: Fewer people = more wealth to spread around = less joblessness= more affordable existing housing. People benefit from other's having many children. Who does ? Churches for gaining more members, corporations for gaining more customers, housing developers and electricity companies for increased demand. Large cities will get even more crowded, more busy and more expensive. Hell, just getting to work is a huge mission !

  • So the best idea is to cultivate Africa to make it produce food for everyone? Even though there is not enough water there to feed half of their own Continent. Smart idea people

  • @ro11ie "could" feed the whole world. Neither the man who made this video nor his source claimed it was the best way to combat world hunger and poverty.

  • @ro11ie Really? This is your comment? I don't know the makers of this video, but having watched it I can confidently say that they do not even suggest that Africa should be cultivated to provide food for everyone. Watch it again.

  • @ro11ie clearly missed the point

  • @ro11ie the amazing technology that can be used to tap fresh water in deserts is also unsustainable. They had the same in Israel and they're all running dry. These videos are so utterly wrong.

  • @ro11ie I would imagine when they mean "with modern farming techniques" that would include water production

  • Why do all of Colinpri1's videos always go back to that overpopulation thing? It's kind of annoying. And one thing I've been seeing neglected is that if there are too many people then there aren't enough jobs. That can lead to poverty which can lead to starvation as he has said. It has nothing to do with how many people we CAN feed or who CAN live in an area but how they can work and contribute to an area that may not need them or their skills.

  • Shhhhhh, so long as we keep the general population oblivious through propaganda, no one will panic. Then we'll have real troubles...

  • Overpopulation is a myth? Perhaps from a human centric standpoint. I think that there is still some level of balance that would normally be maintained between various species, and that human creativity over-rides any natural balancing that might otherwise occur, so any negative effects humans have on the environment are multiplied by population size. For balance, I like natural selection, human selection from a top down approach is disastrous, it's chemical warfare and genocide.

  • i live in a farming community, and farmers have told me themselves that government officials have come to their doors and PAID THEM to burn their crops rather than selling them or to just not even grow them in the first place. no bullshit.

  • @reverendbug I didn't know that was even up for debate. The Government has paid farmers to either not produce food or destroy food for the last 70 years.

  • Sigh where to begin with this... ok, first you have a chicken or egg problem in terms of wars causing famine or famine (or other resource limitation) causing wars... You haven't made a convincing case for the former... u just stated it citing nothing. Second, no mention of energy usage.. how do you think we are able to grow so much food? I'll give you a hint its not magical fairies. Third, the US government can AFFORD to pay farm subsidies.. you watch the news recently concerning the deficit?

  • The video is simplistic and full of misconceptions. Let us say, for the sake of argument, that food is not an issue, for the moment. But there are many other factors to take into consideration: housing, potable water, transportation, medical care, sanitation, education, quality of life.

The video does not take into account that the population, will NOT be stabilizing at 7 billion, but it will continue to grow. There will come a point when you will not be able to feed all the people.

  • The people that are starving in third world countries are doing so because foreign investors buy up all of the arable land to use for export cash crops leaving the local people without land and a place to grow their own food. This is the case for most of Africa and India.

They are also poor and starving thanks to institutions like the IMF and World bank that have them enslaved in perpetual debt.

This video ignores the most important factors of starvation because of obvious western bias..

  • all 7 bilion of us could fit inside the state of texas with plenty of space. then there's just a matter of food - how about if each of us had a garden? eugenics is an excuse for unnecessary death and destruction. some people just have WAY too much time on their hands. they need to get a real job and stop trying to run the world. they are obviously not qualified to be caretakers of the planet. is their lease up in 2012? i hope so.

  • The video is RIGHT (at last) about HUNGER (wars, etc, ) . . . But still WRONG about overpopulation. Every new baby / person is more pollution. Food production is polluting, electric power production is polluting, transport, etc..

  • Wow, this guy proves that if you have a nice animation, people will like it regardless what stupid idea you'll present.

  • This video didn't even include privatization and speculation/capitalism.

Imagine me building a large fence around your supermarket and charging you money for entry. Or imagine me buying up all the groceries that were sold at fair price and selling them to you at outrageous prices.

    Or even both.

  • PJ O'Rourke once wrote of his (rather courageous) trip thru Somalia, where starvation was rampant. He had to hire armed escorts to safely see him thru other armed forces, and the whole time, he said, "we were never out of sight of food." Field after field of food crops sat idle because people were afraid of being shot should they harvest them. Stop the warlords, dictators, Marxists, etc., and people will start eating well again.

  • well im glad less people are being born, i was kinda worried population was increasing exponentially. tatscookies, it has to do with economy to, many people wont have a kid because they cant take care of it.

  • @ch4nc3who

it won't be economy but individual ability that will incapacitate people from taking care of their kids.

  • Puts things in to perspective ^_^

  • Poverty, Conflict (War), Natural Disasters, Over-Exploitation of the Environment, Poor Agricultural Infrastructure... many people do not have access to it.

Ah, so that's why people are starving in America... wouldn't starving obese Americans be an easier solution in solving hunger in America?

Wait, people must work for food? I thought people paid bills with money?

People have to BUY food? BUT THERE IS PLENTY TO GO AROUND! WTF??!!

    DAMN, NATURE YOU SCARY!

  • haha, nice video - hilarious, i laughed so hard at the truck falling

  • what a stupid facts, the things are so wrong and bad, are CRAZY!!!!!

  • Their reasoning seems to make sense, but I would like to point out that poverty is largely due to overpopulation. The more impoverished people are(because of religion and lack of education), the more babies they have. People are also becoming poor because of many other factors, such as lack of jobs or from the depression witch means that they don't have money to put back into the economy. We could theoretically sustain a large number of people for awhile if we sacrifice of the environment.

  • Do you know where are meat comes from. People are cruel to millions of animals. Thousands aof animals are slauthered so (no offence) fat, meat lovers can plow therre mouths into the pour animals that we treat so poorly. Think about it.

  • @MSNWindows7 Meat is an essential part of our diets. Until you can engineer a plant that provides all essential amino acids, B vitamins, selenium, etc, etc, then we have to eat meat to survive.

  • This is the best animation videos i have ever seen , illustrating complex things in one point.

  • With all the wars going on and tsunamis and vaccinations (to control the population) and woman having only one or two children thanks to birth control (pushed by our schools and governments/aka planned parenthood formerly known as eugenics) and abstinence pushed by the church) we have less people, not more.. We are herded into cities by design and told we are over populated and made to feel bad about repopulating. Folks we are being lied to.

  • @tatjscookies I completely agree with you. I just hope the sheeple wake up before it is to late.

  • @carterrk And then what? Riots?

  • @blargh98315 Your post makes no sense.. I agree with the previous post and we are being lied too on more than just one front. If you watch the MSM (main strem media) there has been all this hype about 7 billion people on this planet and how there are to many of us. Well the ones that feel there are to many consider you and myself them... As for the riots, when a society relys on the government just to get by that will happen. When you are independent there would be no riots. think about it.

  • @carterrk Arguing in the youtube comments section is stupid. I'll send you a private message :P.

  • @tatjscookies Regarding abstinence being "pushed by the church," I would mention that this abstinence is, when pushed, aimed primarily toward unmarried youth. The Catholic church has a HUGE following, and they shun birth control because they feel that their God does not approve. Catholics have lots of children as a result. Also, uneducated people tend to be more gullible toward religion, and poor people are more desperate to seek help in the church. Poor + uneducated + religious = more babies

  • @tatjscookies I'd just like to correct you. The Church encourages you to be chaste until you marry. And, if you've ever been to a vibrant Church community, you'd know that there are mainly large families, as the Church is against contraceptives and abortion. Priests are celibate, but the Church does indeed ENCOURAGE you to have a large family. :)

  • @tatjscookies Eugenics isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as it's done by a "pure free market". That way less sociopaths (elitist politicians & bankers) are born. MRIs prove that some criminals do indeed have different brain architecture. IMO our current system lets these individuals survive & thrive. I believe they wouldn't prosper in a free market.

  • @tatjscookies

But don't expect TV WATCHERS to grasp that. Everything they know is parroted off the moron tube by AL gore type eugenicist . Undoing brainwashing is an all day effort for weeks. One lil video cannot reach them...sadly,sniff

  • @tatjscookies You are an idiot. The population census doesn't lie. Ever since the baby boomers, each generation has grown bigger and bigger. It add's up. A big generation will create a bigger generation and the bigger generation will create an even bigger generation. Birth control only helps people limit how many children they have, but they still have children nonetheless. I feel bad for people like you who fall for this fake propaganda.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane I feel sorry for special needs people like you. Each generation will create a bigger generation? You should tell that to Europe and Japan. Their populations have been decreasing for decades. More people are dying every day than being born. The Japanese government is actually trying to come up with ways to create incentives for people to have kids. You are in no position to call anyone an idiot.

  • @mixmastermeeks Special needs? I'm a couple semesters away from graduating from a state university with a degree in community health education and environmental science. I probably know more about it than you. I just finished an environmental health class where we studied overpopulation extensively. Japan only has like 1/3 the pop of the US. The fact that their population is dropping slightly is pretty insignificant when the US, China, and India are all growing out of control.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane yeah, community health education and environmental science...that is what I said...special needs. They give you text books with agendas and it just is impossible for some people to question that information. And you made the point that every generation gets bigger. I pointed out that isn't true and used Japan and Europe as examples of shrinking populations. I never said the population as a whole isn't going up. But you can't say that it inevitably will.

  • @mixmastermeeks Wow, you sound like an arrogant prick. You must be the kind of person who failed at life so you'll put down the success of others to make yourself feel better about being a loser. Even if textbooks were biased, it's not like we don't have class discussions and analyze what we've read and share our opinions. College kids are pretty liberal and open minded; we question authority more than most other people and we do it intellectually.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane I would hardly qualify a degree in community health education and environmental science as a success. And when books are bias and professors are bias they don't offer another side for "college kids" to be open minded too. And open mindedness among youth is getting less and less. Youth in America are more and more being told that individualism is a bad thing. Normally by people who major in things like community health education.

  • @mixmastermeeks It's a success as opposed to your life, I'm sure. What have you accomplished? And who are you to determine that all books and all professors are biased? What facts can you base that on? I'm curious. Your arguments sound like just opinions to me. I guess that's what I get for trying to debate with an uneducated fool. If you went to school maybe you would know that community health education isn't about suppressing the individualism of youth. Good guess though.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane ah, the Classic I go to school therefore anyone who disagrees with me must be wrong argument. An appeal to authority is only necessary when you believe your arguments can't stand by themselves. And don't get me wrong, you should be proud of your four year degree in Eugenics. I guess I shouldn't be too hard on you, I mean you are only a kid.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane And the people in America are having less and less children. Look at the average from a century ago. Population control is the most scary fake crisis to come along. Some of humanities darkest times in recent centuries have been aimed at "population" control. (eugenics) The idea that some body should be able to dictate who gets to reproduce and how much they get to reproduce. Makes me sick.

  • @mixmastermeeks And if you follow the basic, logical facts of science, you'll find that our world population has risen dramatically over the past 200 years. It took us tens of thousands of years to reach our first billion people, and then it only took us 200 more years to hit 7 billion. So yeah, I think it's safe to say that the population as a whole is ALREADY rising, and fast. In the interest of our planet, our only home, we need to do something.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane Here is my logic. 1. So what? So we have 7 billion people. What is earth's capacity? Over population is an eminent catastrophe.....that gets rescheduled every decade. 2. Of course the population has sky rocketed in the last 200 years. That is because we have more food than every, better health than ever. Now we see areas in the world declining in population. Europe and Japan for example....

  • @mixmastermeeks Have you noticed all of the protests going on around the country? Have you noticed how many of them are on college campuses? Me and my friends are pretty anti-government. We use hallucinogenic drugs and open our minds to the universe. We don't just accept everything we hear as truth. But we know that some things ARE truth, not everything is a lie. We are in school to learn, use resources, get involved, connect with others. What do you do? Work at McDonalds?

  • @DMBkeepsmesane So lets see. Since when is taking drugs a way to prove you think for yourself? Not that I am against it but it certainly isn't a badge of individualism now is it? And certainly associating yourself with the occupy protests doesn't help your case for intelligence. And of course you accept what you hear or you wouldn't by this overpopulation nonsense. And it possible I work at McDonalds. Would that make a difference? You will be great at Eugenics.

  • @mixmastermeeks Don't you know? People who work at McDonalds are undesirables. Remember, the amount of money you make determines your worth as a human being. It's not like public servers or other lower income jobs are needed for society to function. We should be thankful people like DMB allow us poor dregs to live.

  • @Fleefles Haha. Yep. Little Goebbels Jr is very generous to let the rest of us live. Because by their way of thinking the only reason people don't make us much money as others is because there are too many people. If we just killed some off.... I mean if we were to just control the population there would be more money to go around.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane "We use hallucinogenic drugs and open our minds to the universe" - thanks, you made my day ... hahah ...

  • @DMBkeepsmesane That tells us that when a society hits a certain population they self regulate. The idea that someone like you with a four year bullshit degree should somehow be involved in deciding which humans get to reproduce and how much they get to reproduce is appalling. People always ask "how did the German people let the Holocaust happen?" Well you are the answer. Under the guise of "mankind" or now "environmentalism".

  • @mixmastermeeks "That is because we have more food than ever, better health than ever." You just proved my point without even realizing it. We have more food and better health why? Because of technology and medicine. And yes, you keep pointing out Japan and Europe. Guess what? Two thirds of Europe and the populations of Russia and Japan still don't even come close to the rest of the worlds GROWING population so your point isn't really valid.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane And once again you have missed my point. I have not said that Japan and Europe's decrease in population is going to offset other regions. My point was that societies do reach a point where they decrease their population without some sicko deciding who gets to reproduce and how much. If you don't get my point this time let me know and I will send you a letter in crayon.

  • @tatjscookies Lmao. Christian families are among those with higher birthrates in developed nations. They only abstain from sex BEFORE MARRIAGE. They also have kids because they believe it's their religious duty, and they often advocate against contraceptives.

    You're argument is flawed.

  • @tatjscookies the world is overpopulated because less people=less resources needed overall. but due to the baby boom, there are already too many people-you can say birth control is improving this but what about the people who are still having 3+ children?

  • @tatjscookies Wars and tsunamis have always been around, those are not a factor. Birth control only helps put off children until women are ready to start a family, they still have children when they choose to... so that's not a factor. Hardly anyone uses abstinence, that's not a factor. I feel bad that people actually fall for that crap. Science and medicine are keeping people alive longer. That's the answer.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane Oh brother. I just read another one of your little jewels. Really? So you think birth control only determines when a woman has a baby and not HOW many she has? Like women still have 9 or 10 kids. So if science and medicine are the main factors in population why is Europe and Japan's populations decreasing? Because they have less science and medicine? Clearly you are in no position to feel sorry for anyone.

  • @mixmastermeeks My "bullshit" degree will earn me more money than you'll ever make. So go ahead, keep making fun of the fact that I'm getting an education just because you feel shitty about yourself. You'll be thankful one day when "people like me" save your low income, conspiracy theorist ass. And comparing the Holocaust to overpopulation is the stupidest thing I've heard. You are ridiculous.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane And you will have to explain to me how the idea that "educated" people should come up with a plan to control population is almost exactly the Nazi's idea. And as far as conspiracy you can go look at what has been said by your kind at the UN meetings on climate. There is a whole group that insists we need to control the population and put forth ideas like forced sterilization and the like.

  • @DMBkeepsmesane And I love how you just assume that since you have (or will have) a four year degree in Eugenics that no one else has a degree or goes to school. And I am not surprised that in the end your measurement of a human would be how much money they make. With such humanist stances you are gonna fit right in with the rest of the Eugenics majors. I noticed you shut up about birth control though.

  • and sheeple think this is a video of propaganda >_>

make yourself a favor and learn to think for yourself....

  • why is everyone in this video black?

  • @jayjasonbird because the background is white

  • @jayjasonbird Ah because most STICK figures are normally ah black.....

  • should be ashamed as followers of god w/ ur propaganda as an "INSTITUTE"

    Do u know your implications?

    1) overpopulation is false? IT IS VERY PLAUSIBLE SINCE we have limited space; earth has A FIXED amount of resources (like oil).

W/ land capacity: we already hit 7 BILLION. We have NATURAL disasters & we are in WARS from this.

    2) if we use africa for crops, U ARE IMPLYING/PROMOTING the displacement of africans--sounds like slavery part 2 ?!

    3) UN has credibility? u need 2 research that.

  • @suck0it0trebek Not all resources are fixed. Food, water, air etc. are all renewable resources. True, oil is not. There's still plenty of oil in the world, and people are working on creating renewable fuel. Land is hardily a problem as well. We can fit the entire population in a landmass the size of Texas. Hell, with the advancements in technology, we can live on land that was previously uninhabitable. Who says we're displacing Africans? If anything, becoming the world farm will help them

  • because now they have jobs, and people are investing in their countries, increasing wealth and improving living conditions. Sure, there are some obvious things that are fixed. We are still far away from it being a huge problem. With technology increasing exponentially as it is right now, we'll be able to colonize other planets by the time Earth becomes overpopulated, buying several thousand more years with each planet.

btw, if you think it's such a problem, remove yourself from the population.

  • this video is propaganda. do your own research and look for credible information.

  • this is such a retarded video you have no idea what over population means and what strains its putting on the planet, theres so many negatives to larger populations such as huge enviromental damage, polution, using farm techniques that are harmfull to lifestock and create poorer food quality, and the destruction of wild population of every other animal and plant on this planet.

the positives of more people on this planet er...... cant think of one. this video makes me angry

  • @g00171227 "the positives of more people on this planet er...... cant think of one. this video makes me angry"

Provided everyone has a solid education it would mean we'd solve more problems at a higher rate.

  • Finally some sense. Anyways, if overpopulation was ever a problem, let's just start culling from the top.

  • @SunUp08 the world doesn't work like that and you know it

  • is this guy being paid by the government to spread misinformation? what a fucking momo... can you please stfu and stop spreading this fucking BULLSHIT

  • the answers obvious. the rest of the world as in most middle eastern and African countries just need to get civilized and quit sneaking over to north America. I mean how hard is it to build respectable education systems so 90% of your youth doesn't end up economically retarded with sub 25 IQ levels stuck working for greedy American companies.

  • FUCKING LIESSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • IF THE U.N. SAYS ITS PROBABLY A LIE AND WE SHOULD ALL BE PANICKING AND GROWING OUR FOOD!

  • "THAT AFRICA, IF CULTIVATED USING THE MODERN METHODS.."

yea guess what those methods are based on - fossil fuels, s**tloads of them

  • @anarky4321 Water can already be desalinated w/ solar power. Desalination isn't 100% solar powered currently because coal is more economical. Within this decade though solar will begin able to compete w/ coal and within the next decade become cheaper. And Africa can be green like in this video here.

  • Cheap oil created the illusion that food is much easier to obtain than it naturally is. We literally eat oil in modern factory farming, which is a huge reason why the "green revolution" was possible.

Now, with world oil production likely peaking (the IEA lists the peak year as 2006) we are seeing the true cost of growing all that food and transporting it at great energy expense to non-local markets.

If you claim there's "plenty" of food and leave out that vital context, you are lying.

  • @Antithropocentric There is plenty of it, Over a Billion tonnes of Food get wasted each year. The problem is the Method of distribution. Waste drives the economy as well (The processing and transfer of it) Distribution of Jobs, and People, and the current economic model of Debt based capitalism. Profit on war and waste.

  • @steeldragonx, that whole "distribution" argument is based on the false assumption of endless cheap oil, which is history. The global peak in oil production likely happened in 2006, per the IEA.

Without cheap fuel to easily transport (and grow) food, people will have to accept that an area is overpopulated by definition if it can't get its food from relatively close sources. Wild animal species abide by that rule, and people could learn from them - if sustainability is our actual goal.

  • People, if you REALLY want to learn about hunger in the world, instead of listening to these pro-life nutjobs, you should check worldhunger(dot)com. I would also suggest you to google a recent article by Juliet Eilperin called "Population, climate change taxing the planet’s resources". Birth control might not be THE solution but at least it IS a solution.

  • @LegionarioCruel, people who subscribe to various "environmental myths" don't want to learn how nature really operates. They'd rather live inside their growth fantasies. Anything that cites limits to human-takings will get ignored.

I think we're seeing the inevitable bad outcome of anthropocentric, Creationist "logic" that assumes everything is practically infinite via supernatural law. Fools got away with dissing nature for centuries, but too many growth-limiting factors have coalesced now.

  • @Antithropocentric - You're unfortunately right, but the least you can do is provide an alternative for those who really want to educate themselves on the matter. The danger of this kind of propaganda is that they make it "feel" like they are talking about scientific truths, when they are clearly just manipulating the facts.

  • @LegionarioCruel, I could post links to various (real) population/hunger sites or books, but anyone who WANTS to learn can already look that up. Dogma doesn't respond to evidence.

They can only be called out as fools & liars and they're getting more dangerous as the world hits critical mass. I think this recession is an unprecedented confluence of overpopulation, Peak Oil and environmental factors. The economy has finally hit a resource wall and growth as we know it is being throttled.

  • No mention of petroleum prices. Modern farming does not run on "magic".

  • There's CURRENTLY enough food to feed everybody. Remember that the fish in the sea is disappearing and it's disappearing fast.

  • There ARE enough resources on the earth for everyone. BUT, for everyone to be able to get it it means that we MUST decrease our standards. Any non-retarded person can tell you that if everyone in the world were to use as much as we do, it would end fast. We already use more recourses then what is being re-produced by the earth and us.

  • @gulbirk I disagree. Everyone can have a high standard of living on this planet and there is enough for everyone.

Sadly we have the monetary system and a few at the top who run the show which prevents humanity from truly succeeding.

  • @reevesc1986 I agree

  • @gulbirk The technology already exist for the current population to consume energy at western levels. Proof of concept was tested in 60's, it just needs to be perfected for it to be viable on a commercial scale

    /watch?v=P9M__yYbsZ4

  • It's big corporations like Glencore keeping supplies from the less developed nations.

  • Yep, this video is bang-on and squares perfectly with a 'back room' conversation I had with some dudes who were running one of these Christian 'feed Africa' organizations. Basically, yes, they explain there is no actual shortage of food or (would be) in distributing food. It is entirely: politics, crime, policy, western environmentalists, gangsters, warlords etc etc etc.

But yes they 'could' easily feed everyone if this was simply delivering actual food. Good vid!

  • no top comment now is my chance!!!!!!!

  • Manufactured, denatured, proccesssed, pesticide laden, GMOs foods are not real foods as God and his awesome nature attended it to be, but posion! Wake Up Sinners!

  • Quit the god delusion

  • These videos are misleading.

If the problem of feeding everyone has nothing to do with overpopulation, and is a mere matter of implementation, then why are we paying farmers not to farm? We not only pay farmers not to farm in the U.S. but we pay them not to farm in other countries too.

If there is no economic system in place to deal with a certain population, then that certain population is most definitely a problem.

  • The video claims the U.S. government pays U.S. farmers not to grow food because the land isn't needed for agriculture. That's bull!!! It's a multi-billion-dollar political issue. The land usually isn't returned to the wild, but taken over by developers for real estate or commercial interests.

The truth is, U.S. agricultural exports are in decline. We now import a vast amount of food from the 3rd World, using their land to feed us instead of them using their own land to feed themselves.

  • @influxrift The United States still exports half the worlds food.

  • I did think about it, and you're video is still stupid. Overpopulation is not to blame for many things, and many people don't blame overpopulation. My problem with your videos is it's dumbed-down and skewed message.

In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if these videos weren't funded by anti-abortion and pro-Christian money.

  • @influxrift Please state what part of the video is incorrect or misleading? The World Resources Institute has stated that global per capita of food production has been increasing, not decreasing.
