What a shame we never got to see a proper fued between these 2 at some point. Owen could do it all in the ring & Hennig well he made everyone look great in the ring. I miss guys that could actually wrestle. The Harts, Hennig, Dynamite, Savage, Eddie, Benoit & the list goes on & on.
You guys ever feel weird seeing a match like this while knowing that both the opponents are currently dead?....Mr.Perfect and Owen Hart were awesome wrestlers back in the day no doubt...but it still feels very odd and sad for me to know that both of these performers are gone.
Owen was athletic as hell, in addition to being technically superb. He also was great on the mic, and added the requisite humor, charisma, and tongue-in-cheek obnoxiousness required. He reminded me of a character out of the young, edgy, movies that combined the bratty little brother with a regal like quality. He was just all around skilled. It's a shame the WWF never gave him the full push he deserved. He had it all.
This match was so far ahead of it's time. Outside of Mexico and Japan NO ONE was doing moves like that during those years. They were obviously trying to get Owen over as he had 95% of the offense. Even being barely over 5 minutes this match stole the show.
Absolutley...Give these guys 16 - 18 minutes at least. And give Henning more of an offense, back and forth. This may be if orchestrated propery a Steamboat / Savage match.
this is the shortened version of the match. see the wwf 1999 re-releases of the WM's, in this case 5 and you'll seee the longer match. and also see mr perfect almost trip down the ramp (he didn;'t know there was a step down there). lol also happened to bret hart and bushwhacker butch, lol.
@Emit79 I'm not faulting the performers at all. They went above and beyond to use every last second of that time. Why could they have given time from the Twin Towers/Rockers squash match?
@TSMontana I completely agree with you, i said "seriously bro" in an agreeing manner, not a nasty tone haha sorry for the confusion! 2 amazing legends right there, I read Bret Harts book and it said that Owen was given little chances here and there in the begining to show what he can do, I guess this is one of them, its the Owen show, with a perfect plex at the end. But that just shows what a amazing guy hennig was to let the rookie take the show at wrestlemania...oday is Mr Perfects birthday.
@TSMontana Check out 3:58. That's where the tape cut happens. Perfect actually controls the match for a little while. The match was 8-9 minutes long uncut.
@TSMontana I mean, at the time THEN, I could see the Blazer only getting that much time, but Perfect!? he DEFINITELY deserved it then, and if anyone would have opened they're eyes, they would have then realize that both of them have it in them to do something truly special..

Why's it so funny, WWEFan? A lot of people didn't have music back then. Perfect got his later that year. It wasn't until the mid 90s that everyone had music.
2: what the hell could u get that from the blue blazer sux u no it and so does everyone else.
and 3: another example of more uncalled for inpropriate actions that only happen because just need to say rude comments to make themselves feel better

Why's it so funny, WWEFan? A lot of people didn't have music back then. Perfect got his later that year. It wasn't until the mid 90s that everyone had music.

They cut a lot out of this match. Perfect didn't get his ass kicked that bad. There was about 4 minutes of Perfect in control.

Even when I was 7 years old, I was very satisfied with the finish even though Blazer lost.

Owen did the Blue Blazer gimmick in Stampede, before he came to the WWF. Two great athletes gone before their time.

No, he didn't do the Blue Blazer gimmick in stampede.

your right, he did the gimmick early in his WWF career. Thats what I was thinking about.

1. that makes no type of sense.
2: what the hell could u get that from the blue blazer sux u no it and so does everyone else.
and 3: another example of more uncalled for inpropriate actions that only happen because just need to say rude comments to make themselves feel better

You gotta admire Curt Hennig for putting a nobody aka "the blue blazer" (aka never seen on WWF TV Owen Hart) so much over here.
In less than five minutes, he made Owen looking like a billion bucks prospect.
Absolutely Perfect little match
