  • My favorite album. This riff gives me the chills almost every time.

  • best thing to headbang on

  • This is awesome on headphones, but insane in home theatre!

  • FODAAAAAAAA

  • @dearpsychonaut

Programmed unfortunately but yep, they sound fucking awesome.

  • @Poisonseed Tomas wanted a clearer sound, and wanted to experiment.

  • @BenjaminKuruga

No, he wasn't playing at all. They used samples from his playing and programmed them.

  • Am I the only one who doesn't have a side-effect for this album? (Other than insane headbanging?)

  • This song sounds so f**k'en crazy that I had to listen to it 33 times just to catch it.

  • @Boo6661000 ......i see what you did there

  • @Boo6661000 hahahahaha loñ

  • Never do school work while listening to this...

When the song starts, all your multitasking abilities vanish and you're trapped into a state of musical orgasm...

Like right now, I have troubnmllle wrting anyyrfthing..

  • @TaKaLQc sti dmalade ta ben raison!

  • @TaKaLQc I disagree, my ability to do mental math is substantially increased when I listen to meshguggah.

  • I quite like a lot of their music, but the vocalist just kills it for me, its why I only listen to a very select set of metal bands, too many vocalists, and how they vocalize their lyrics, its just not keeping my ear.

    Just my opinion, no hate;)

  • @otaku8489 I have the same view for Lamb Of God, Randy Blythe totally spoils the songs for me. But Jen's vocals are way better.

    Just my opinion, no hate

  • This song (album) is not real, truly captures insanity in music, and I can't get enough of it. This band has changed the course of music without recognition. They created the breakdown, djent, and this variation of djent that can only lie in avant garde. This band is the Ron Paul of Music.

  • @CoolCoverBro Meshuggah didn't exactly invent the breakdown, but they definitely perfected it. And I prefer to call them the Mozart of metal.

  • @S0m3kind0fm0nst3R I can't recall a real breakdown before contradictions collapse existing in rock or metal, and choose whatever talented musician or politician you want :)

  • @CoolCoverBro I guess that all depends on what you consider a breakdown. I've heard breakdowns in earlier Death songs, but Meshuggah definitely owns at writing them.

  • @CoolCoverBro And now that I think about it, Domination by Pantera.

  • @S0m3kind0fm0nst3R Dehumanization has the heaviest breakdown ever known to human ears.

  • Its ok if that's what your into this bands not horrible. I perfer dying fetus

  • @NaKALENiSUKA1 No problem :P

  • Everything about meshuggah makes every other band invalid.

  • Meshuggah will NEVER make an album better than catch 33

  • @H0RA your kidding right,,,but then again thats HIGHLY opinionated. Every album they made was great to me personally..i rather say not too many bands can make any music better then Meshuggah.

  • @H0RA Totally agree with you. This is a piece of art.

  • @H0RA I guess we'll find out, they only made one afterwards.

  • @scratchneck sorry if we like music that isnt in 4/4. Don't bash Meshuggah.

  • The struggle... to free myself of restraints... becomes... my very shackles... DUN DUN D-D-D-DUN DUNN UN DUN D-D-D-DUN DUNN DUN DUN D-D-D-DUN DUNN UN DUN D-D-D-DUN DUNN DUN DUN D-D-D-DUN DUNN UN DUN D-D-D-DUN DUNN DUN DUN D-D-D-DUN DUNN UN DUN D-D-D-DUN DUNN DUN DUN D-D-D-DUN DUNN UN DUN D-D-D-DUN DUNN

  • lol my sister was bitching at my so i put this up full blast and i wasn't able to hear her annoying voice and it worked :D

  • Meshuggah = Copypasta kings

  • @ConinBowkerNZ What?

  • I totally agree with the most rated comments on this video, this is the most beautiful work by Meshuggah, I ve been listening to this album in loops from past one year (since I came across it)

  • @bharatBhushanKonka Catch 33. At least once a day. 2+ years for me :P

  • @crossofthesphinx people must be reminded of what art is.

  • apparently this shit made a great deal of sense to them. lol

  • @DeathofmeIknow The entire album is about paradoxes. It isn't supposed to make sense, and that is the point.

  • lol @ black viel brides ad they look so scene

  • This in my opinion is the most interesting meshuggah album out of them all. I cant even handle its amazingness. This is the meshuggah i like.. the bouncy meshuggah... that just fucks with your right hemisphere's rhythm interpretation.

  • You break it open and eat the fleshy marrow.

  • Once I start listening to this, I become paralyzed and have to listen to the whole thing.

  • @JLRemiel Paralyzed in thoughts

  • @JLRemiel haha i agree. Its hard to listen to single "songs" on Catch 33 b/c it just leads to listening to the whole damn epic album.

  • @JLRemiel Oh me its my first time and i can say u im really not paralyzed , im so headbanging now

  • @scratchneck We're crazy? You just spent how long typing that comment to piss us off? Hehe, you trolls make me laugh. You're wasting your own time trying to make us mad. You trolls never understand that do you.

  • @Makearight139 Scratchneck is just annoying ...

  • @BenjaminKuruga So I noticed, lol. I just love saying that to trolls, though,

  • @scratchneck don't you mean you have to be Meshuggah

  • @scratchneck Haha, no mate. Its cunts like you that make "depressed emo teenagers" kill themselves. Because its people like you that make others feel like they're in the wrong. And you know what, I hope you get hit by a bus :P

  • @scratchneck Why so prejudiced and angry.

I'd rather you'd be calm and peaceful.

  • Does anyone else think these guys are Secretly black spiral dancers trying to spread the infection of the worm, Cause if they are its working!!!!

  • \m/ (^_^) \m/

  • *Headnging \m/ (^_^) \m/

  • I must say that I now think this album is pretty good, I just needed to change my perspective on it. My friend said it's like one long song, and that helped me appreciate it a lot more.

  • @VinceVonVicious Yeh, its all connected in a way, So yes Catch 33 is a long song, thats fucked up beautifully

  • I used to go to sleep with this blasting in the speakers on a regular basis. My girlfriend hated it.

  • @Mesenjah Your ...Ex-girlfriend

  • As kool as this riff is it's the only one in the whole song yawn these guys have done so much better and I'm out to discover more than obZen. Btw this comment will be attacked by some fanboy djent prick.

  • @VinceVonVicious Actually, it's not the only one in the whole song. That is wrong.

  • @dujl You're right. It was late at night when I was listening. Taking in the overall sound without focusing on any oddities in the patterns I hear 3 riffs that are all derivatives of eachother. Almost in a minimalist fashion. I can appreciate that kind of approach but it gets repetitive in this song.

  • @VinceVonVicious LOLrepetitive ...Yeh I used to think Slipknot was Heavy ... like ....6 years ago?

  • @VinceVonVicious That's the genius of this album. It's minimalist but at the same time extremely complex.

  • @VinceVonVicious Nah, that makes sense. You love it or you don't.

  • The struggle, to free myself from restrains...Becomes...My very schackles...

  • Drum machine.. haha this sucks

  • @NzXII Trollin. Yes its a drum machine, the whole album is a drum machine. your so cool for noticing, Duh fuck what are you stupid?

  • @NzXII

Drum machine programmed by one of the greatest drummers now alive. Just so you know.

  • @sbrakobraun I know right, Haake programmed it so they could get better sound quality and do things almost physicall impossible etc to make the songs with. He did it for us and I for one respect this fucking epicness

  • i love it how half of their songs only seem to have two notes, yet they are all completely original and awesome.

  • i seem to have this weird habit of starting to headbang during the song and continuing to headbang long after the song is over

  • Groovy as fuck

  • And God said on the eighth day... "Let there be Meshuggah."

...And the world blew the fuck up!

  • @UforEyuh Yeh, and then some fuckers translated it wrong in the bible and made up their own little story, but whatever :P

  • They turn maths into music.......damn!

  • "The struggle to free myself from restraints; becomes my very shackles" -What an awesome line..so fuckin true in every sense.

This band has grown on me soo much its insane..such talented men. Its the ONLY music I can workout to intensely lol

  • What the HECK was I listening to before Meshuggah?

  • @sportster007 Probally Hanson's Mmmbop

  • @Tool78Maynard Nice try, dude.

  • @sportster007 Sarcasm

  • @sportster007 WE were listening to crap. And then we beheld Meshuggah.

  • This whole album is awesome. I wanna try to memorize the whole thing and record my self playing it without stopping (This album is a 48 minute song, in case you didn't know already.)

Btw I know this is technically one song, but was this one recording? Or did they just edit the songs to transition into eachother?

  • Drumkit from hell

  • can anyone temme whats their best songs. Cuz ive just been introduced to meshuggah and have been told alot about their insane music and their guitarists jazz and other experimentalist approaches and their entirely different sound...but till now no offence but ive mostly experienced insane time signatures.....im sure theres more to them....so can someone suggest any song?

  • @chillax600 In Death/ Is Death, and stuff like Fredrik Thordendal with that morgan guy, google Fredrik Thordendal

  • @chillax600 It's all over the Destroy Erase Improve album. Also check out "Sol Niger Within".

  • it's basically a variation on rational gaze....or is it only me who thinks that?

  • REACHING, FOR THE INNER BRIGHT!!!

  • I like Gojira but I wasn't too impressed with this. It was pretty much the same backing riff for five minutes. Or perhaps there's better songs to start getting into them?

  • @ImperialKiriyama nah man you just have shiddy speakers, this whole album is one complete song, this is like the intro to the album, listen to it all at once and you will.... your face might ACUALLY melt!! this album is a master piece and far surpasses anything bands like Gojira can ever hope to achieve.

  • @iLoveDaSweetLeaf What? Nah, Gojira has already passed this. But this is some great shit.

  • @ImperialKiriyama Listen to Straws Pulled at Random or New Millennium Cyanide Christ first.

  • @ImperialKiriyama Catch 33 is their best work by a clear mile IMO but check out Rational Gaze, Bleed, New Millennium Cyanide Christ for their more commercial songs. But, if you can, listen to this album start to finish, only then can you really appreciate the true beauty of it :)

  • @TheModCon All I need in life is this one album, food, sleep, pot, guitar, and my woman.

  • @AliceIsAMonster well put

  • @FlamSalad sorry, that was my brother who posted that. -.-

  • @AliceIsAMonster uh yea but I'm agreeing with him. Why are you apologizing?

  • @FlamSalad i don't know, hes making me sound like a lesbian , and pothead x'D

  • @AliceIsAMonster But lesbian potheads are so cool. I'd think you're awesome ;)

  • @FlamSalad lol, nah i'm straight.

  • @TheModCon Haha! I see your point, but I find it funny that "commercial" is the word that came to mind for you!

  • @TheTasteOfReason Lol yeh commercial and Meshuggah don't really fit :P I guess, easier to digest :D

  • @TheModCon I listen to this album from start to finish sometimes ...Im pretty sure, I just can't remember, I normally wake up a couples days later.

  • @supah1337B Me too! Don't you agree that Meshuggah can have a hypnotizing effect on you? Sometimes I fall asleep to their music while it's playing really loud... Their rhythms really have a strange effect on your Consciousness.

  • @titusbeertsen Yeh, I also appear to be losing my hearing ....but yet I can hear everything fine, just not My Shuggah D:

  • @TheModCon Oh fuck yes, man. It's the only way I listen to it, and I listen to this album a lot, haha.

  • @TheModCon they have more commercial songs!?!?!? are you insane? this is meshuggah

  • @MadKetz Bleed ..... and Millenium Cyanide Christ ...and ....yeh? thats like the only Slightly Commercial songs they have, ModCon is crazy

  • @supah1337B Hah hah you're a fucking idiot. You didn't notice that the two tracks you said were more commercial, I put in my comment?

  • @TheModCon Ok ...don't have to be a dick about it. You said they have More commercial songs. They don't

  • @supah1337B I'm not being a dick, you're being stupid. Maybe you need to read my comment again. They do have more commercial songs, whether you accept it or not, they just do. And, you do realise that "slightly commercial" infers more commercial than the rest of their catalogue of songs, which is what I said in the first place about the SAME songs you mentioned, in fact. You sir, again, are a fucking idiot.

  • @TheModCon How you describe commercial and how I do, must be two completely different things then.

  • @supah1337B I don't see why that has to be the case. If we both agreed in separate instances that NMCC and Bleed are their more commercial songs. "having profit rather than artistic or other value as a primary aim" Every band has to do it really, write singles, or take a song and edit it to make it more commercial (Bleed, Rational Gaze) It's a fact of the music industry.

  • @TheModCon NMCC, Bleed, Rational Gaze are the only ones that had music videos for them aren't they?

  • @supah1337B They have one for Shed.

  • @supah1337B Shed I think.

  • @TheModCon Catch33 their best work??? By a clear mile??? You goose.

  • @locust7777 Yeh, you see the >>>>>IMO<<<<<. That means it's SUBJECTIVE. Come back when you're done talking bollocks.

  • Not much of a rhythm-only guy, but this is pretty mesmerizing.

  • @ThrashMetalMan1 Check out YOB

  • 3 serpents swallowing its own tail, the symbol for returning of the ages in many cultures. wholly shit, this band is esoteric as fuck. meshuganner is right

  • DAY DUT DUH-DA-DA-DAY DA-DUH DA-DUH DAY DUT. DUH-DA-DA DAY DA-DUH DA-DUH DAY DUT

  • @IHateBrokencyde I love your username

  • @lordofdoosh Thanks man, I get that a lot haha

  • @IHateBrokencyde

DAY...DUhDUh, DUhDUhDAY, DUhDUh, DUhDAY, DUhDUh, DUhDuhDay, DuhDuh, DuhDuhDay, DuhDuh...

  • Meshuggah grows on you, it's like a disease

i used to only listen to them to widen my ideas for different kind of music, like really mix it up a bit, like for like funk and shiz... But now Meshuggah has grown on me so much i absolutely love it, it just sounds right... just saying that you can like Meshuggah and things like Jazz and stuff too, but some people below don't seem to think so... but yea amazing band and amazing song =D

  • my 6 year old son just asked me why I kept listening to this band for hours while doing my bills, my only response was "THIS WILL BLOW YOUR BRAINS OUT".

  • I'm not trying to promote any bands or anything, merely pushing this godlike-status rendering music. If you like, love or want to bum Meshuggah, listen to a band called 'Uneven Structure'. They've got a free EP on their MySpace entitled '8'! Why not? >:)

  • and wannabe technical metal band? they ARE technical and have toured with bands like cattle decapitation and the red chord. search any review or ask any metal columnist about this band and there is nothing but love for these guys. you piss me off you ignorant fuck face.

  • you probably only listened to one song anyways, its not the best song on the cd. listen to "the union" and then dont ever talk to me again, ignorant fuck

  • @BobbyBadfingers Lol, how about I never listen to your shitty band and never talk to you again, fuck face? Does that work for you? The sad part about your band is that they're completely uncreative, and I wouldn't be surprised to find better pop bands if I just klicked on a bunch YouTube videos at random.

  • @dujl your so annoying man, you listen to only meshuggah and you think your some kind of machine/purist. if your still listening to meshugah and only meshuggah im sorry to say but it means your boring as fuck. go take drugs and develop some more tastes. you think meshuggah is so fucking special and you are on another level but your not, you narrow minded fuck.

  • @dujl ahh i see why your so defensive. you stupid swedish fuck. and you listen to the beatles to....wow your a huge faggot.

  • @BobbyBadfingers Haha. I listen to everything that is good, you stupid, pretentious fuck. You probably listen to metal because you think it's "cool". Guess what kid? You're not cool. Grow up and learn what real music is.

  • @dujl Alright well im 20 years 0ld and i play guitar and i like to listen t0 guitar. i dont think its "cool", i rarely even go to concerts. lets just make peace because you were the one who started it with an aggressive comment towards a suggestion for someone who actually really liked the song. music is meant to unite people right? lets just end it saying that meshuggah are the grand daddies of the 7 and 8 string experimental metal .

  • @BobbyBadfingers Fine, that works for me. Let's just enjoy whatever we enjoy.

  • you think there is depth in meshuggah because of a note sustained in the background over heavy riffs ? shut the fuck up man and dont be afraid to listen to another good band, especially when they are critically acclaimed. plus when did i ever compare the two bands or say ttdte is better than meshuggah? im a huge meshuggah fan

  • Catch 33 gives me nightmares... in a good way :D totally awesome album, but it's not nice when you think a child murderer is hiding in your house somewhere XD

  • I got myself a 7 string to learn Combustion... fuck its hard xD

  • My doctor prescribed me meshuggah. god damnit, it's really working!

  • [kojumuhn gvhnjko0iuo9ytrdftggyuiopiuytdrsefvb bhuytrsewrtyuio76543werty

    Wiping jizz off the keyboard.

  • it seems all the music that's heavier than meshuggah isn't as good. also the few bands and artists that are on the same level, are nowhere near as heavy

  • Naaaaa Na Na na naaaa na nana naaaaa na awesome song!

  • Meshuggah's music makes me feel like a collossal dragon, waking from a thousand year sleep and destroying the entire human race in anger.

  • @NateOhl Then going back to sleep.

  • @NateOhl lol no, if you listen to Meshuggah, your a slave to Meshuggah. No dragon, your a lobotmised slave to them.

  • @BannanaOfDoom I was describing the way the music makes me feel you limp dick faggot. You think you know Meshuggah better than me? I have playlists for many different styles of music because I appreciate many styles of music. On my channel I have a video of me and a couple friends playing a metal song that we wrote. On your channel you have stick figures. If you want to lecture me on Meshuggah, go stand in the corner and fuck yourself instead.

  • @NateOhl Holy fucking shit, i was just trying to tell in a funny way how people experience Meshuggah's music differently, relax :) Alot. Do a little reality check, your freaking the shit out on some random guy on the internet who says lol no, you know, i could have been a little fat 12 year old trying to make people angry. And what you did is called "feeding the troll". thats sex for that kind.

  • @BannanaOfDoom Alright, it's all good, just freaked at the word slave I think. Back to the music.

  • @BannanaOfDoom Yessir i know exactly where you're coming from! Whenever i throw on their albums some more ancient, primal part of my brain shuts down all the rest of itself and i know longer exist as a thinking individual!

  • @TheTasteOfReason Ha! Which i guess is overtly laid out in the very song title! Way to fucking succeed in yet another facet of your music, Almighty Meshuggah!

  • @TheTasteOfReason Exactly, as if we are human cultists to Azatoth, the demon sultan sitting on his black throne in the middle of all chaos, the most mad of outer gods. Damn i have read too much lovecraft..

  • @NateOhl Holy cow! I read your reply first, then the initial comment...way to blow the fuck up, Mr. No-Humor-No-Fuse-Anger-Bomb!

PS The way you organize your YouTube account has absolutely zero bearing on how hard-fucking-core of a metalhead you are.

  • @NateOhl you don't have to 'know' metal to play metal, just look at JFaC

  • @NateOhl Sounds like Meshuggahzilla

  • @NateOhl makes me feel like i can fucking do back flips on nothing but my dick :D

  • cant.. withstand.. the groove.... must headbang l..l,

  • i dont know how you people listen to these guys. their so fucking repetitive.

  • @damico529 Some of their stuff is repetitive, not all though. This is only repetitive, because it is supposed to be all one song in the album. Listen to DEI, None, and Nothing, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

  • @damico529 You fucking suck, you piece of shit. Don't come here posting ignorant comments that only highlight your fucking stupidity. No one can take you seriously or respect you like that.

  • Comment removed

  • If you're me, there's nothing more to understand about this than the fact that this is not only the heaviest band you've ever heard, but they play deceivingly difficult music.

  • @Megadeth916 I wouldn't say that it's difficult. It's deceivingly simple. It's all in 4/4. They're great musicians and great at what they do, but there isn't anything really complicated about their music.

  • @DontPieceMe221

no, it's not 4/4. it has a 4/4 core, but it isn't 4/4. they all play whacky odd time signatures until the instruments meet up in 4/4, but it isn't 4/4. even if it was, it's still ludicrously far from simple.

  • @DontPieceMe221 I mean I'm just saying as a guitarist, it was harder to play stuff off the obzen album properly than I expected. Maybe I'm just that bad lol X.x

  • @Megadeth916 Do you play by ear? I've looked up tabs for their stuff and almost all of them are garbage. lol. So if you're looking at a tab and you can't get it right, it's most likely not your fault. And they do have these crazy long measures that get hard to follow, so I can see where you're coming from.

  • @DontPieceMe221 its like, the very subtle changes they throw into riffs that are hard to follow, cuz they do that a good amount

  • @DontPieceMe221 Simple? Are you some kind of moron? How many people do you think would manage to reproduce or perform this with high accuracy or without difficulty? Not many, because it's not fucking easy. It may seem simple at first glance but is much harder when looked at altogether.

  • @dujl Moron? I was just saying that it's not as difficult as people make it seem. They're great musicians, but there as plenty of musicians that incorporate polyrhythms into their music. They're one of my favorite bands, but, in my opinion, it's nothing mind blowing. Maybe someday you'll grow up and learn to accept other's opinions. Have a nice day :)
