I quite like a lot of their music, but the vocalist just kills it for me, its why I only listen to a very select set of metal bands, too many vocalists, and how they vocalize their lyrics, its just not keeping my ear.
This song (album) is not real, truly captures insanity in music, and I can't get enough of it. This band has changed the course of music without recognition. They created the breakdown, djent, and this variation of djent that can only lie in avant garde. This band is the Ron Paul of Music.

@dujl You're right. It was late at night when I was listening. Taking in the overall sound without focusing on any oddities in the patterns I hear 3 riffs that are all derivatives of eachother. Almost in a minimalist fashion. I can appreciate that kind of approach but it gets repetitive in this song.
@sbrakobraun I know right, Haake programmed it so they could get better sound quality and do things almost physicall impossible etc to make the songs with. He did it for us and I for one respect this fucking epicness

I like Gojira but I wasn't too impressed with this. It was pretty much the same backing riff for five minutes. Or perhaps there's better songs to start getting into them?

@ImperialKiriyama Catch 33 is their best work by a clear mile IMO but check out Rational Gaze, Bleed, New Millennium Cyanide Christ for their more commercial songs. But, if you can, listen to this album start to finish, only then can you really appreciate the true beauty of it :)

@ImperialKiriyama Catch 33 is their best work by a clear mile IMO but check out Rational Gaze, Bleed, New Millennium Cyanide Christ for their more commercial songs. But, if you can, listen to this album start to finish, only then can you really appreciate the true beauty of it :)

"having profit rather than artistic or other value as a primary aim" Every band has to do it really, write singles, or take a song and edit it to make it more commercial (Bleed, Rational Gaze) It's a fact of the music industry.

Meshuggah grows on you, it's like a disease
i used to only listen to them to widen my ideas for different kind of music, like really mix it up a bit, like for like funk and shiz... But now Meshuggah has grown on me so much i absolutely love it, it just sounds right... just saying that you can like Meshuggah and things like Jazz and stuff too, but some people below don't seem to think so... but yea amazing band and amazing song =D

So if you're looking at a tab and you can't get it right, it's most likely not your fault. And they do have these crazy long measures that get hard to follow, so I can see where you're coming from.

@dujl Moron? I was just saying that it's not as difficult as people make it seem. They're great musicians, but there as plenty of musicians that incorporate polyrhythms into their music. They're one of my favorite bands, but, in my opinion, it's nothing mind blowing. Maybe someday you'll grow up and learn to accept other's opinions. Have a nice day :)
