Steve said he never really felt a part of Journey in the TV show Journey Behind The Music..It makes me so sad that he felt that way. For me Steve Perry was Journey and the band will never be the same without him. I personally think The Voice can never be replaced!!! Journey without Steve is like Queen without Freddie Mercury.

Steve was the most intoxicating mix of innocence and sexuality to ever grace a concert stage. Those luminous eyes, lucious hair, the mouth, Steve was made for SEX, just pure physical pleasure. And he knew it. Squeeze into obscenely tight jeans, bat the eyes, toss the hair. Steve knew how to make every woman (and gay men too ) want to take him to bed. But still he could project this sweetness, gentleness and almost childlike soul. How the heck did he do that ? No wonder he drove chicks nuts.

Journey without Steve Perry is like the Rolling Stones without Mick Jagger. Although all the members of Journey are amazing musicians and any good singer can sing a Journey song, they will never be as good as or as soulful as Steve Perry and Steve was the "out there" guy. He is the one that always comes to mind when you think of Journey - even now. Good musician? Outstanding musician, vocalist, song writer, performer. No one is his equal - never probably will be. Will he come back?

Is it just me or does anyone else think Steve seems very depressed in this interview?The only time through this he seems happy is when hes talking about his Mum & the prize he won when he was a kid.Was this after the break up with Sherrie? I think that affected him more deeply than he let on & people thought.God bless you Steve.

@missbitch67 Steves mom died in the middle of the ROR tour and I think he split with Sherrie in the middle of 1985. I watched the Canada interview in 1994 and when they talked about Sherrie a big smile came across his face.

I know he had a girlfriend after Sherrie. Her name was Robin and they were together over 9yrs.

@beanierene Steves mum died 4th december 85,i was'nt sure when he split with Sherrie but it was June 85,i phrased my comment wrongly,what i should have said was,Does anyone else think Steve looks depressed,& was that more of a factor as to why he walked away as opposed to saying he was burnt out. Robin was a while after Sherrie he was still with robin in may 99.

This is a little strange to watch, knowing all the bad blood that was boiling to the surface during this time and even before...strange in that they seemed to get along & play off each other so well.

H.H. worked them practically to death for the better part of 10 years. It's really no wonder personalities & priorities began to clash. I'll give H.H. his due though, for knowing a good thing when he heard it and bringing Steve into the band. Thanks mlbows11, for bringing this to us.

I like Perry but I will admit that he lost points when I found out he had Valory and Smith fired. That was such a setback. I was so excited when I found out the classic lineup was coming back! That was so cool. Then I would find out later that Perry wanted Herbert out. For someone that never felt part of the band, he was sure throwing some weight around. Anyways, his new CD is expected Feb 2010. Curious to see where he's at musically 16 years later.
