When I was a kid in the 80`s we would see these commercials but only during saturday morning cartoons. It was hard to find Shasta soft drinks locally, but the one place that did have them was our school and they cost 75 cents which was high for the 1980`s when a coke, pepsi or likewise drink would cost 45 cents. I can`t find the commercial I remember the most, it had penguins doing the Shasta song with synthesized robot voices.
@simdude2u Here in Phoenix Arizona, Fry's grocery stores are owned by KRoger Corporation the same company that owns KRoger stores back east.
K Roger's Grapefruit - Passionfruit Soda tastes excellent. I LVOE that stuff.
BTW, K Roger does not make their own food products. They have the major food company factories make the same stuff, and then K Roger slaps their own K Roger food label on the package. It is called Private Label Branding. All the food store chains do it.
"13!" ROFLOL when I hear this song, I think of the same song they used in the movie "sign" when the boy and his sister was in the bookstore, and he was looking for something on UFO's. The old man watching tv shouted. "13!" when he saw the commercial for pop again. LOL Great memory on this video though.
@670Kiester how is that gay you homo thats there style back then. just like you got your own gay ass hip hop style of modern day shit where every 1 wants to be black. so dont go hating on other styles back then when your probably a wigger
Shasta is now adding Sucralose (Splenda) to not only it's diet cola but their regular 3 liter cola as well! Here is the contact information for Shasta Beverage Company Marketing Dept. 1-800-326-8640 Ext. # 3001 Bob Holsey or Chris in Promotions. Consumers of Splenda and sucralose have reported the following symptoms, individually and in combinations. Bloating Blood in urine Chest pains Constipation Depression, anxiety Shortness of breath Dizziness Headache Heart palpitations
I had a shasta recently and thought it tasted kinda like diet. i checked the ingredients and i found sucralose.........it was the most disappointing moment in my life.......
The opening crotch shot is priceless! I see this so differently now as an adult. Shasta was a diet soda, and they were marketing it to women by suggesting hot guys want "Shasta." I don't think they were trying to sell it to men with this, as someone commented up there.
I will never forget this advertisement! I think alot of us where in love with the tune or this guy sing the jingle! Oh well, guilty pleasures and cheap thrills keep bringing me back! Ha ha ha, love it, 5 stars and then some! ; D
Well.. would like to see what he looks like now.. because everytime that commercial came on, I would run to the TV and bowl everyone down to see him! LOL
OMG... I searched this commercial just so I could see if I still thought the guy was hot! I had it so bad for him back then! My mom was all "he's sweaty!!" but I didn't care. My fave part (and still is) the very end where he's groovin' to the beat, so cute...LOL
I have been hearing this song in my head for years.. I used to love this commercial as a kid.. LMAO been wanting to hear it ever since!! thanks for posting :-)
This just made me laugh out loud. I can NOT hear the word 'Shasta' without breaking into this jingle, but I had forgotten how incredibly cheesy this ad was. Fanfrickingtastic.
Awesome:) I also remember the dentyne, the impulse and I think the toothpaste was called "pearl"? Where the blond girl would lick her teeth? Aaah, those were the days:)
The Shasta commercial with the new wave band (girl drummer in striped shirt) comes to mind during this era as well. Is/was Shasta available only in the "pop" region of the country? If not, were the lyrics different for other regions? In Oklahoma, we say "pop", so this was the only rendition I recall.
Man, I loved this version when it came out...the music was so catchy & 80ish. I must have been about 11 or 12 at the time. What is up with the dude in the painter's cap??? Was he only necessary to the commercial for his one line ("SHASTA!") and his yawn in the beginning to show how bored he was with other colas?
Is it me, or does it sound like Mike Reno of Loverboy singing?
@updog88 I know what you really think. The same thing I think: why are those 2 men sitting together at the beach? And what were they thinking when they nodded at each other? They look like they're... well you know... starts with g.
What was the soft drink commercial with the hot, sweaty guy walking into a restaurant and asking for a bag of potato chips, then buying a drink... was that Shasta, or Fresca, or Sprite or something? Anyone remember that one? Been trying to figure that out for years...
Dang!!! I remember drinking Shasta as a teen back in the 80s. Shasta, RC Cola, 7UP and others were more prominent back then. Now it just seems like the world is owned by Coke & Pepsi.
Damn, I remember liking this commercial in high school, checking out their boxes!

@DancingSpiderman That is the ingredients for Kroger's Grape Drink but they have 80% water.

@simdude2u Wow. I wasn't far off.
K Roger's Grape Drink:
80% water
18% sugar
2% Purple.
Q: Who is this K Roger? I asked at the grocery store, their own employees do not know who K Roger is.
DancingSpiderman 6 months ago
@DancingSpiderman Have you never been to a Kroger store, and bought their generic brand before? Their generic food product are gross.

That is one brilliant commercial. Who cares whether it's "gay" or not. That just makes it hotter.

"Don't gimme that so-so cola, that same old cola. I wanna rock n'rolla. I wanna Pop! I wanna taste pazazz....I wanna taste pazzaz.
Pazaaaaz" well, honetly who doesn't want to taste pazazz???
