These i1200 ThinkPads are rare now. AFAIK, they were manufactured under license by Acer. (In fact, there are lots of old lappies and their models that get rarer and rarer as time goes on.)
there is a flat style screw on the front-left-bottom side {if upright} and after unscewing that you remove a cover with on the side near the screw{there is a raised tab there}
once that is removed there is a {in my case} a blue ribbon to tug on ... mine was very hard to remove so be careful it is in there real snugg ... the hard drive also has a fitting on the end for the custom pata connector ont he mother board so if replacing remember to reuse that ;)
@santy091 : Hola, te cuento que la vendí hace un par de años. En ese momento ya le habia ampliado la memoria, pero no recuerdo cuánto le agregué. Saludos...
Hello, I tell you that I sold this computer 2 years ago. At that moment I expand the memory, but do not remember how I added. Greeting...
LOL. Im using one of these as a bit-torrent client. Takes a while to load up XP +firewall and AV but is nice ad reliable. anybody know what the full technical specks for the ram it can take? (not just the supplied)
hi...i have a question, i got the same laptop a few weeks ago and turns out its usb and cd drive does not work...is there anyway i can install an os(ubuntu) on it the hd is blank and the screen asks for a install diskette ....plz help if u/anyone else knows i've been trying for over two weeks now
Nice! According to the ThinkWiki website, the i1200 was made in 2000, and has either an Intel Celeron running at 500, 550, 600, or 700 MHz, or an Intel Pentium III running at 650 or 700 MHz.
It came with 32 or 64 MB of RAM standard, which could be upgraded to 192 MB.
True, the only thing bad about this notebook are the plastic housing, with a mild stroke that breaks easily. I had to change the display to my laptop with this problem.

@DAREclass I don't know. Never did it in this notebook. And I sold it long ago, so I have no way to find out.
