  • Are you using a MIDI controller or is that keyboard making the noise?

  • and i recorded this and put it on a cd:)

  • cool.>3

  • What freakin Speak and Spell did you Rip apart to get that Sickeningly Awesome sound!?

  • 0:18 - 0:37 sounds really good, what a good patch + bass lick thing, good job

  • That is beautiful, sir.

  • im a bass guitarist looking into a techno band with a friend of mine and i want to know how the bass guitar could work with this kind of thing any tips?

  • Daft punk would be proud <3 :P

  • perfect piece of bass

  • fool, this is sooooooooooooooooooooooo pleasant to my ears.

  • Tutorial?

  • Could you please share the patch, Its probably the best FM bass ive heard, I read you used 2 modulators and 1 carrier, but do you remember the frequency? Thanks

  • Make a full track out of that, man. Seriously.

  • this bassline and bass sound is sweet. what kind of onboard effects did you apply?

  • @tokedog03 you obviously were listening to the wrong video D:

  • can this thing be used as a MIDI controller??

    Sorry im a total NOOB

  • Yayyyyyyyyy!!! Daft Punk!!! Luv you man nice synthesizing! XD

  • Pretty badass man!

  • how did u program that sound...?

  • Do you have to program drum sounds into the micron or are they already set?

  • sounds like somethin daft punk would do. throw in some drum beats and lyrics, i would listen to that all day

  • Sounds really nice - is this just the Micron then or is it going through some other filters?

  • top 10 bass sounds i've ever heard

  • @theradness

    LOL

  • thanks for the help dude but i figured it out already

  • RAVE!

  • nice sounds dude. is fm software or does it come with the micron??

  • can you make your own sound [by synthesis] and save them [how many or you have to replace the original sounds]? also: how many setups like that one can you save in his memory? thx! [5 stars from me!]

  • this techno bass sound on the micron is sick ...i love it

  • yes crap

  • really good!!@!@@#

  • yeah nice

  • SICK sound! Awesome!

  • yes it is shite

  • OMG DAFT PUNK! oh wait it's just the Micron :)

  • what patch is this

  • "This is a bass sound i programmed with fm. "

  • can you get a motion city soundtrack synth sound on this?

  • that's tight! reminds me of daft punk.

  • this is so wesome 5*

  • I can't find any synths that don't sound thin and cheesy. I want a synth to have a bassy vintage square-wave form sound.

  • LITTLE PHATTY!

  • i thought all the korgs had nice square bass

  • I compared the microKorg and the Alesis Micron a few days after posting that comment- and I would have to go with the Korg definitely. The options are greater, although more confusing at first and it can still have a punchy vintage analong sound, which is what is most important, I believe. The Alesis sounded too digital for my taste.....

  • true, korgs do have good bass sounds

but this guy can do anything with a micron.

  • me too, does the micron have any , what about the microKORG

  • Does the Micron and microKORG have what?

  • niceee

  • Reaaly cool sound, but where is the beat?

  • this is awesome

  • Cool sounds!

  • Nice, did you teach yourself how to play?

  • sounds kinda crystal castles-ish.

  • sick

  • im really new to synths, but i play piano nd make up shit often so i thought i should start some synthy goodness. im pretty sure im getting this ater watching many vids and reading many reviews. what do you use for speakers/amps, etc.?

  • You can use any speaker/amp combination or headphones. Guitar amps may not work tho...

  • how hard is it to program a sound in one of these? i'm thinking about getting one for my band.

  • If you are familiar with the structure of a synthesizer, and can familiarize your self with the more complex structure of the micron, programming is actually very quick. There are short cuts to each section that can be accessed by pressing program and the respective keys.

  • @Gtechture I'm looking into buying one of these soon and was wondering how much, if any, do you need a computer to use and adjust the sounds on the Micron? or can you use do pretty much anything you want without connecting it to a computer?

  • @SixTiNineASoBs

    Hey,

I do all of my editing directly on the synth. As far as i know there is no software editor for the micron. Programming is pretty easy with the shortcuts!

  • @Gtechture Alright thanks for the reply. I'm looking to get this to play live with my band but didn't want to have to carry around my laptop lol.

  • you know, I am thinking about cutting some tracks from 8bit video game sounds.

it reminds me of double dragon vs battletoads

  • I'm not exactly sure but I think the program he might of used was program number

30 Suboscillators with some distortion effects added to it.

    Great tune!!!!!!!!

  • nice playing

  • yhe sound sort of reminds me of the sound from the song "loud electronic ferocius" by someone whos name i can't remember

  • techno? think it sounds more electro

  • yeah.

    cool though.

good work m8 i dig it.

  • well most americans call anything electronic "techno," whereas in europe where the genres are more popular it becomes more divided, but my german friend described the entire movement as "electro."

    it's ALL good.

  • what sucks is that no one can distinguish between different genres, so i refer to the ENTIRE genus of electronic music ranging from trance to gabber as techno.

    i wish people new more=[

  • i wish you knew how to spell 'knew'. lol, OJ. well, I'm not really, am I? or else I wouldn't have commented. What a picky bastard I can be.

  • what are you talking about dude?

    you're not what?

  • no mate, in europe we have both techno and electro too : techno is a 136 constant cut beats with some sfx or a dark bassy synth, while electro is like having the 1980 'moog' sound . the backbeat is kinda in between hip hop and drum and bass (especially oldschool and idm ) with a 126to134 bmp ratio and to top it up you put a 4 chord synth progressing up or down + also some mcing.

tachno might sound easier to do, but for me electro is easier+ less complex ..I LOVE TECHNO! :)

  • for me this is a synth that is good for electro

its neither an electro nor a techno song.

  • fucking cool sound

  • you should make this into a song!! is this sound made using just the micron?? or is it hooked up to other things??

  • what preset have you used to make this btw?

  • I'm not sure but he might of used Program number 30 Suboscillators with some FM and distortion effects aded into it.

  • Tight man!!

  • Never heard such awesomeness with what sounds like a simple pulse waveform with some resonance for that ringing sound. amiright?

  • If i remeber correctly There are 3 Oscillators, Osc 1's frequency is being modulated by 2 and three and the oscillators are also synced. This is followed by two comb filters routed linearly. The FM and Filters are keytracked.

  • Yes, but what does this all MEAN, man?! What does it MEAN?!

  • wow, nice sound man.

  • thats was phat

  • so sick!!

  • Dude, that's fucking sick; for years I've wanted a synthesizer and I'm finally about to get one today, and this whole time I've been looking at MicroKorg, but because of this and some other videos, I'm going to get a Micron.

  • That isnt a preset, it wont be on the Micron.

  • I read the description.

  • Hahah, I forgot about that! Thats cool man its a sweet synth, this vid is just a fraction of the nasty sounds it can make. Definitely the way to go for the money.

  • how much is one of these im in canada

  • yeah, way better than the microkorg, which sucks dick

  • ive bought the micron because of your demo mate

    you should produce some electro

  • wow sin palabras!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • D: GOD! awesum!

  • i love it!

  • Mint

  • fuckin sick!

  • sick.

just wondering, can you loop a bass line, well, a melody aswell i suppose... and play it while pplaying something else? and if so can you loop one thing, then loop another thing so that they play on the same loop?

  • the micron has beats right?

i have a microKORG already and was thinking of getting a Micron as well. but wanted to know if i should get a drum machine first, or if the Micron as beats?

  • yer it has a drum patches and sequencer... way better then the microkorg

  • dude you make the coolest patches they sound way better than most the stock patches!!!!

  • where do i get one of those

  • At the gettin' store.

  • true.

  • how much is a micron? is it cheaper then a microKORG

  • there about the same

i dont know i was thinking about getting the micro korg untill i saw this synth

  • man that is a sick sound and bassline

  • would you be able to talk me through how to program this?

im in love with it, hahah.

  • i love that riff thingy that starts at 0:17 it is so kuul~ im so buying a micron

  • we're ganna jam on this over break bro, fucking sick.

  • is the alesis micron a synth which can simply be played through speakers or through an amp? or does it require the use of a pc or laptop, like the microKONTROL does?

  • The Micron is a fullblown synthesizer with audio outputs. The microKontrol is not a synth it is a Midi Controller it just sends midi information to control hardware/software synthesizers or sequencers.

  • oh good.

i currently have a microKontrol which i have used for studio editing.

but now im looking for a synth which would be suitable for live performances with my band.

the micron was recommended to me.

i love this video by the way [:

  • microkorg is a synth not a midi controller

  • um, but you can use it as a MIDI controller, you can use almost any synth or keyboard as a MIDI controller, even my piece of crap keyboard is a MIDI controller.

And the Micron has a bunch of settings specifically for using it as a MIDI controller, so I think the creators also had MIDI in mind when making it, obviously

  • dude that is such a sick pach you should make it into a song, i use the micron as well

  • Nice vid man! I'm loving all of the patches you create.

I was just wondering though.. I've been reading about some people saying that when the X Y Z knobs are turned very slowly they don't register. Is this true? Thanks.

  • Hi, Ive never hada problem with the X Y Z knobs. Because of the complicated way some elements can be set up the knobs may have little effect.

  • For Example If you may assign Filter 1 Frequency to knob x, and turn it and it wont make much of a difference. This is because on most presets 50 percent of all of the oscillators output is routed to oscillator 2. On top of there are parameters for "Post Filter Volume" if this is low (it is on some patches) than trying to change the frequency of the filter will have very little audible effect in the short range.

  • i don't think he meant he couldn't hear it.. he's talking about how if you turn an Fm amount knob for example and watch the % number, if you turn it really slowly the number won't go up at all whereas turning it the same distance but faster would.. is that considered low resolution?

  • Normally you would see the parameter's value change on the display when you are turning a knob.

However, if you turn the knob VERY slowly it doesn't affect the parameter. This has nothing to do with the assignments of the knobs, I think it's some sort of design flaw.

It's a great sounding synth though, so don't let this flaw stop you from buying it.

    Cheers.

  • i saw that video... i've been using my micron for a while and i guess it occasionally gets on my nerves but overall it's so much better than a microkorg in terms of sound engine & composing possibilities it's negligable
