  • i bet he could hit a ball 200 with his right arm alone

  • An inspiration to those who ENJOY working hard to achieve what they dream of.......look no further than this great man as the ultimate example. My Golfing Hero.

  • @tiger2995 True indeed. I find it funny how golfers keep looking for that "secret" golf move to play like the pros do. There is no secret move, in anything that one does in life, the only "secret" to success is hard work. You want to be as good as the pros, you have to dedicate time, money, and sweat at the range.

  • @1tontomato My sentiments exactly Sir, many thanks.

  • @1tontomato Many would rather not admit that, but I do believe you're entirely correct sir.

  • Looks like his hips are slightly open at address, almost pre-cocked for the follow-thru. Am I imagining that?

  • @copeland45 Yes, Hogan moved his right foot slightly back for the long clubs. Take a look at 5 Lessons book, Hogan goes over the set up process in detail.

  • that slo mo was incredible

  • doubt many had a better swing than hogan!

  • Thank you very much for posting this pearl !

  • Fantastic video. Seems like an awful nice guy here. People don't talk much like this anymore it seems. Great swing.

  • Those were the guys. Keep swinging folks!

  • It was made in Palm Springs...

  • I think it was made in 1952 as part of Bing Crosby's series.

Not sure on location - 373 yard par 4 in california doesn't return a result.

    Steve

  • Yes. Tamarisk C.C. in Rancho Mirage, Ca. Love this video! Thanks for posting.

  • This has gotta be in Southern California in the Palm Springs/La Quinta area. One of Bob Hope's winter home courses most likely.

  • Thanks so much for posting this! Mr. Hogan was quite a remarkable man.

  • Hey Tontomato...When wand where was this made?

  • @flogderf As far as I know, it was made here in the US many years ago of course, but in terms of location....it could be Hogan's favorite course somewhere in Texas. Maybe Tamarisk? Not sure.

  • I cant believe what I just saw!.....

That man has to be the greatest ball striker ever to play the game. I want to thank you for posting this video. I have never seen this plus I'm a big fan of Mr. Hogan.

Thanks is simply not good enough.......

I hope your family has a wonderful and safe holidays.......

  • @esmelinbisono

Your very welcome! I'm glad you can enjoy some great Hogan footage.

  • Thanks for posting. That practice swing/drill at the end was incredible. I thought it was slow motion at first glance.

  • Love that line by Bob Hope, "...Father Keller, the pro at Christopher's country club..."

  • This is the first time I've been able to get a glimpse of Hogan's personality. Contemporaries always said he was practically anti-social. This obviously is not true. He seems quite personable.

  • People said that Hogan was anti-social because he did'nt wear a smile on his face like some sort of clown. Also, he put all his concentration out when he played on the tour, so no time for jokes or remarks, Hogan was all business out there. So people took that the wrong way, Hogan put 110% effort into every shot for the enjoyment of his fans. But when Hogan played with his close friends, he was a riot to be around and talked like a sailor, lol.

  • Great video thank you very much for sharing

  • Hogan in his Prime. His slow motion swing looks exactly like a camera in slow motion.

    WOW!!!

  • @lonestargun It was quite amazing wasn't it?

  • Is this from a movie or newsreal? Amazing!

  • It's footage from an old Catholic tv show. Thank God for that priest inviting Hogan for a little chat :), otherwise we would not have this nice flick to enjoy.

  • oh boy, just discovered your treasurehouse today 1ton ! Gr8ful thx :D

& is it the "real" Carl Welty posting thx, too?

    awesome

  • I can not thank you enough for this video tontomato ! I have been studying his swing immensly. Got my handicap down to 3 and working harder this year to get scratch. thanksto the videos you posted I was able to watch over and over to break it down visually.

  • You're very welcome. I'm glad my videos have served you well.

    Cheers!

  • Thank u for posting thisshort film, truly inspirational. Hopefully they are all playing a five ball , on the 1st Tee Ben asks GOD why did u let me survive the car crash, GOD,S reply . I needed to see your swing more so I could perfect my own swing. lol

  • Best Hogan hitting # 1 wd Tamerisk C C 1953 Super Great Practice Swing Demonstration ! Also two swings at regular speed towards the end of the interview. Thanks for posting this treasure. Carl Welty

  • Right elbow is supposed to be bent at impact. Even low handicappers will have a bent right elbow at impact. Do a google search on 'Snead impact position' and you'll see his right elbow clearly bent as well. That being said, Hogan had more elbow bend than about 99% of the golfing population.

  • In your estimation that would leave out Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

The right elbow can be bent depending on the type of swing one uses, but it does not have to be bent in order to be a good ball striker like Woods and Phil.

  • Notice the right knee. He talked about keeping the right leg stable throughout the swing - the Jody Vasquez secret. However, in this swing, he seems to straighten the knee and move it away from the target (while "setting" his hips to the target).

  • The slight move away from the target helps to get the momentum into action and the right leg braced is for building resistance and coil, similar to a bow and arrow.

There is always something new to learn from watching Hogan.

  • Also, pay attention to the width of his stance, very wide and stable. With the aggressive type of pivot Hogan uses, he needs a wide stable base. It would be impossible to do the same type of swing with a narrow stance.

The wider the stance, the more you have to use the body, the narrower the stance, the more you have to use your arms to hit.

  • Look how Hogan's right elbow is glued to his right hip at 8:29, and the lag at 8:30!! Hogan said that if he was trying to truly master something, he had to do it over and over in slow-motion first. Try swinging in slow-motion once, it's not easy, especially doing it correctly. This is great stuff!! Thanks again for posting!! I'll probably sit and watch this all day, maybe all week! I'm sure Hogan, Hope, and Crosby played Cypress later that day.

  • Thanks for posting!! This is GREAT!

  • Hogan looks like a slouch sitting on the bench, and then he hits what appears to be a 3 wood with as much clubhead speed as 6'3" gym maniac Tiger does on his best drives.

(and this is Hogan post car accident!)

  • This is awesome! Thanks for sharing...

  • 230? The balls and shafts must have been pretty bad back then, today that swing would produce 330! Thanks for posting this!

  • Not to mention the insane 50-75 yard rolls that the pro's get on the fairways.

  • This is... FANTASTIC.

    Thank you EVER so much....

  • Superb!

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • Thanks 1ton. 5 stars.

  • As Hogan Said:"The secret is in the dirt. Thanks, and keep diggin'.

  • Been doing plenty of digging as Hogan would say.

  • Where and how do you find them 1ton? Keep them coming.....
