Couple of weeks ago back in Edinburgh, just back from a trip to Lyon, bad weather. Met this french girl. She had a thing with directionless spiders and Scottish poets. we had a beer. she said she had family issues. then she got all emotional. claimed she could hear my heart. told her i just want to be free, happy to be lonely
Wonderful to discover new great old music.I love Tony Carey and his Planet P project so this is perfect, guess this is one of the bands I missed way back when..
Steve Rothery and Diz Minnitt (original bass player) played a gig as The Granmarstonberries (its on Youtube) Check out Steve Rothery's solo on Comfortably Numb.
In my estimation, this is absolutely the best 'concept' album I have ever heard. I know all about "Tommy" and "the Wall" (which, by the way runs a VERY close second! and others.
I can't even guess as to how many times I played this in the 80's. My wife and I were separated and I played it at least 2 or 3 times every night. Of all the artists I listen to and respect, Fish is one that I would love to meet and talk to. I'm quite sure this will never happen, but it's certainly a nice thought.
I lost my beautiful daughter Kayleigh in a fire on the night of Saturday 30th November 1991.It is now very nearly 20 years since that night. In that time i have played the songs from "misplaced childhood" over and over again. This album has kept me sane and kept her right by my side for all that time.I'm as sorry now as i was then.I love this album.Truly <3
@ickabod100 I am so sorry for your loss, truly, I hope that one day you can forgive yourself . Your little girl will love you forever. I hope that she rests in peace.
@ickabod100 sorry to hear about that how very sad .this music always takes you back to a time and place .i lost 3 very close freinds in a car crash 20years ago also but it doesnt feel like 20 years ago thou i am 40 now but still feel like i am 20
there is another verse to this and i can't find it.its where he meets some girl in lyons and gives her 200 francs. where could i find it? or is it titled as something else? it also involves a bridge and a higher octave.
You're talking about "Bitter Suite", track n. 3 of the album. In particular, you refer to the part called 'Blue Angel' (The sky was bible black in Lyon, when I met the Magdalene...). You can find it in "Misplaced Childhood Pt. 2 / 6"
Cheers and greetings from Italy....Tiziano (aka ILoveAnnieHaslam)

@EnergeticVampiree I'm glad to see that there are still folks out there that have taste for real music you will find that marillion can calm you but also make you very angry enjoy the future with marillion and the new melodies that will ravish you're soul
This is, by far, one of the best complete albums ever recorded...I was introduced to Marillion by my girlfriend in 1988 – Misplaced Childhood. I have then introduced Marillion to everyone that I’ve met that has a musical ear. Thank you to Chris (the girlfriend) for the introduction. Thank you to Marillion (Fish and Hogarth) for continuing to produce some of the best music ever!!!
Lastly, thanks for posting the whole of Misplaced Childhood here...
