Now that i can't use my hands to talk on the phone while driving I can now instead practice harmonica, shave, enjoy the scenery, hell.... even practice tying sailing knots! Thank you California for giving me more time to get things done!!! I'll just be sure to not use the CELL PHONE from now on since that's the only thing the law says we can't hold while driving! What a ridiculous law!
The Fresno Police Department took measures to inform the public of these new laws prior to the enforcement date including a press conference with the CHP, the broadcast of a Public Service Announcement, and countless media interviews. The public received a grace period of more than 18 months before the laws took effect on July 1, 2008. Whether a citation is issued is always at the discretion of the officer based upon the driver's actions.
If thats the case then maybe we should stop putting radios in cars they are potentially distracting, maybe nobody should be allowed to transport other people either. This really was the wrong way to go imo. according to these people drivers are so ignorant that we cannot handle talking while driving. Personally i know their are a ton of horrible drivers out there maybe instead of limiting things for the conscious drivers, they should make the actual driving test a lot harder i mean 15 points lol
We are FREE! but Freedom isn't PHree. Yet, every commercial, car ad, and any other sorry attempt at declaring our uniqueness, always plays on the key word PHREE. 20 percent more Wheaties, PHREE! The Feds-State find what you Like, Need, Do and either Tax it, Fine it, License it, jail you for It, ticket It, levy it, permit needed for IT, or just seize it. Some PHreedumb. 6,927,761,928 Laws does NOT make a Free Country.
And you were PHREE to remove my comments, which is about what I'd expect. The truth doesn't always set you Phree. How about a law banning Lap Dogs while doing 60? Then ban radio station changing, drinking a cup of coffee, looking at a billboard or many other distracting things. One more law sure doesn't make us more free. But it does create somebody revenue.
Cell phones impair driving ability more than Alcohol? So why aren't those cell users, thrown in jail, fined $1,000, have $4,000 more fees and life ruined when they can't get a job because they called while driving? Its all about targeting everybody, for what a few have done. Because Everybody can pay more than just a few.

Driving distracted, like with a cell phone, can in some cases impair a driver's ability as much if not more than alcohol or drugs.

You are certainly "PHREE" to post your comments here. And you are also "PHREE" to obey or disobey the law.

If you have a problem with the laws, you need to focus your attention on the Legislature, who creates the law, not police, who enforce it.
