  • Yep, it is a 1970 Lightning. Very different from a '68. Just wondered why it is being referred to as a n earlier model.

Is it one of the 1970 models that was produced with the same sequence as the '67 bikes ?

    A 65LA etc....

    Thanks. A nice bike.

  • are those steel side panels?!

  • The timing side clutch wire cover is from a 1970 model

  • Cycleski09 A bit of a typo there? Surely you meant "Thunderbolts were a single CARB a year earlier" not a single CYLINDER!! Single cylinders were the "B" and "C" types ie: B31 & B33. C12 & C15 etc

  • i need help tuning the carbs can anybody help??

  • @bartimus1515 Type in LUNMAD, He is a whizz and has a couple of vids about setting and balancing the concentric carbs up. His are for a Bonnie but same rules apply.

  • isn't that a thunderbolt ?

  • Close, Thunderbolts were a single cylinder a year earlier.

  • @cycleski09

Umm, no, the Thunderbolts were the same bike, same years, but with a single carg and no tach (maybe a few other small variations but those were the fundamental ones). Great bike you have there.

  • WOW

    that is a fantastic bike

  • i have one... but it needs some work..

  • Beautiful bike

    Love the twin carbs

  • makes me wish my 68 was runnin.

  • these late 60s 650 BSAs where teriffic bikes to ride and great looking as well but they needed a lot of maintence.

  • me and my dad recently finished restoring a 67 lightning, we decided to have the tank chrome and silver, kind of like a rocket goldie, and we had the red tank badges, being 13 and not old enough to ride a motorcycle, I usually ride pillian, we originally had the humped back seat, but there was hardly any room and i was pretty much sitting on the grab rail, we found out that the flat seat we later put on had about 5 inches extra, so if you ever ride with a passanger tell them to expect a sore ass

  • Very cool. The twin carbs can be a pain to idle and care for but gives the bike such a symetrical look that I love.

My norton is currently in pieces but I'm looking to have it up and running next summer, stay tuned for a video of that pride and joy!

  • nice bike man

i cant wait till my bsa is finished

mine was a firebird but i switched it to the lightning

so mine has twin carbs too
