  • DO listen to all of her work. Understand that she's a sexagenarian with a wealth of experience and perspective who understands a great deal about style, including the beat generation method of reciting poetry backdropped by chord. Ginsberg would do this at impromptu venues, anywhere, any time. Patti's not a tune smith, but her voice (poetic, vocal) has tremendous character & has always been willing to take risks with it.

  • this song isn't worthy of her, even though she wrote it. people could get the wrong idea.

  • @spacemutt

It's completely worthy of her. Your expectations of what you'd prefer to hear aren't. It's more about her poetry, her vocal delivery, voice and ideas, not the music arrangement -- not even the chords and melody. Music fans are prone to framing their favorite performers into a preconceived notion of style, but that's no favor to anybody.

  • @dodecapusrex Totally disagree. If it was merely about poetry, delivery and ideas, she would have just recited a poem. Why bother with chords and melody if they're irrelevant to the piece?

I play all her albums, so I wouldn't even be able to define her by a single style if I wanted to. This song is a dud regardless of style.

  • @spacemutt: Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man. -- The Great Lebowski

  • she is my favorite

  • Hail to the Queen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song, great singer.

  • Astonishing. Patti manages to be sitting in the front row at her own concert (come on, the wild brownish-gray head from the back looks like Patti's!).
