the hate crime law for gays it is great but it seems that america does not push it when a gay person is killed they just try every way they can to say no it was not a hate crime

Yea, and many assume it's just for gays, it's for everyone who is attacked or victimized for their actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.

It's just named after Matthew, because his parents are the creators of the Act, and usually that's what an Acts name becomes, or something in relation to that effect.
