Since it is a game, it is hard to make the player react when a bullet hit near your location. In real life, military advisors told the PR DEV team that when you are under fire, you instincly can't fire back. Games like ArmA2, your hand shakes, but the BF2 engine is hard to modify so they did this "black-out" effect. Just like if something cracks near you, you isntincly blink.

@romagnolo i play arma all the time and even thats a tad unrealistic.. in arma your guy has a panic attack even if it's a near miss.. it pretty much means if someone takes a shot at you your unable to defend yourself..
