  • @mountaincat1000 Ah.... Very nice

  • Unless you're enclosed in a cab, hearing protection is always a must. Kudos.

  • Can you tell me if the ear protection comes standard with those chrome pipes or is that an option you have to by separate?

  • ça soule!!!!!!! a chier! no respect pour l'original!

  • @nonoos153 it was very common for people to do this on the 5020s back in the day cuz there motor is junk for poniess

  • mmm detroit diesel

  • lol forgot a spot....lmao

  • I wouldnt want to listen to that all day while harrowing!

  • lots better than the 80-100 horse on before.. you could deff pull lots more if u could get it heavy enough.. the new big john deere row crops bearly push 315, but they got more lugging power

  • Holy shit dude awesome job what engine u runnin in that thing now?

  • The 5010, 5020 and 6030's were the best tractors built from the late 60's and 70's Peroid!!!! Huge lugging Horsepower and such heavy, heavy front ends!!!! My family still has a 5010, the thing just won't quit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @65JD5010 Back in those days the 5010, 5020, and 6030 were actually referred to as dogs even by Deere men. My neighbor had a 5020 that he blew the engine up on and he ripped the front axle right off of it once. My old 220 Allis I used to have would walk circles around it. That was back in the 70's.

  • @SilverGleaner The 5020 was a good tractor until the motorheads put turbos on them. If you left them naturally aspirated like they came from factory they were cheap horsepower

  • @kdowning08 Without the turbo though they weren't very powerful. Hence the doggy reputation. Too much weight and that engine wasn't responsive until you put a turbo on it. I think the power train itself could handle a lot more power but the 531 could not. At least not very well.

  • Sounds great...at first. Could you imagine hearing that all day, every day? I would install a cab!

  • I'm a city boy, but this was recommended video. I guess when I visited a Oldtimer tractor website in Ottersheim Germany, it thinks I'm into tractors.

  • I notice that he's wearing ear muffs!

  • I would drive that to work, church, store, bar, girls house, all dam day long. LOVE the sound and Love the pipes. And It's a creaming detroit :) :)

  • Wow talk about ear sex. Beautiful sound

  • Well finally something that is louder than my damned Mother-in-law !!!

  • @DammitDrag Hilarious!

  • How big of a fuel tank do you have and how long does it take to burn through it? We had a 4620 and whenever we pulled with it, we couldn't fill it up fast enough!

  • you need a new chisel that job is horrible

  • @carmelnicole i agree

  • i think my stock 5020 would pull that in fith gear pretty eassy maby 6 nice work on it though

  • i've read some of the comments and i don't claim to be a detroit expert but i don't recall a 8v53 engine this one is an 8v72 aka 318 if you look at :06 in the movie you eill notive the center bolt valve cover and block off plates where the water rail would be on an inline engine which are both traits of the 71 series engines not 53 series

  • was this a Kinze conversion? Kinze Mfg. got their start doing repower on Deere using Detroits. Nice restoration!

  • it prob is a 2 stroke

  • sounds like a two stroke?:)

  • boy that thing would piss off the neighbors if they woke up to that. That thing blows the doors off my 1206 (sound wise).

  • @ih1206 piss em off? they should thank him for granting them the pleasure of being woke up by a two stroke deeeeEEEEEtroit

  • How do you get the power down to the ground? Our 6030 has a hard time with traction in the best of times.

  • Beautiful restoration and demonstration. But it's not pulling a very big implement. And this tillage step is wasteful - get a No-Till System - Saves time - Saves Fuel!

  • restoration exceptional and very very power ful machine

  • Notice the ear protection.

    respect.

  • That is a noisy old beast!!

  • That thing sounds TITS!!

  • you would have a hell of a headache if you worked on that all day!!!!

  • NOTHING SOUNDS LIKE A DEERE! HA HA

  • @nodache thats a detroit not a john deere dumbass

  • I like my red power, but damn, I like this too!

  • Detroit engine?

  • Mate, how much juice is that thing going to drink plowin that paddock?

  • i bet you could hear that sum bitch for miles!

  • Until recently, I didn't know that people put Detroits in 5010/20's. In north central Illinois, a farmer got the patent for the mating plate to marry a 903 Cummins to a 5020. He converted over 30 in his spare time, even new one's which voided the warranty. He sold the patent to Cummins after JD engineers started checking him out. Cummins made them for awhile. Then Deere came out with 6030 Turbo.

  • How wide is an 11 shank disk chisel? Could you pull a 30' field cultivator that fast?

  • this is awesome. thanks for posting. my 21-month old daughter loves this. Tractor ("tuhh-tow") was one of her first words.

  • that is bad ass!

  • if i asked this John deere, wht the ya think off the tiller? the answer would be, what tiller?

  • We had a 318 conversion when I was a kid.On a still evening you could hear it 2 miles away with the straight pipes.Nice to hear one sing again!!

  • That is one bad mammer jammer!

  • That JD is really cruising along! =)

  • I read kinze put a detroit 8v-71 into the 5020's

  • Bad ass.

  • That damn thing sounds good,i bet its a pullin son of a bitch. I would love to plow with it for a while

  • That ol Detroit doesn't even realize there's a disk behind it.

  • And Chisels.

  • That too

  • is that a 6v-71?

  • If it's a normal Kinze Conversion, it's probably a 8V-53.

  • i reckon ur right, looks too small for a 8V71.

  • Detroit operators manual, and parts books say the 8V-71 and 8V-53 are the same size.

  • The book is right too.

  • Sounds more like a 71 than a 53. Deeper note and less revs. This one sounds no faster than 1500 revs if that. Besides, I doubt a regular 8v53 would put out 318hp without some substantial tweaking.

  • Da hört sich ja mein Rasentraktor besser an!

  • I've finally found something louder than my Mother-in-law

  • shanks are cherry red!

  • that sound would be cool for about 15 minutes I guess. think I'd be wanting some mufflers then.

  • did you just modify the original motor or did you put a differnt one in all together?

  • That thing would make a deaf kid cry!

  • i wanna know why every video i c off ppl chisel plowing they come right back to the row the jus finished. to me tht slows u do if u go down a lil and make another pass you can do more of the feild faster.

  • that is not a chisel plow.. he is pulling a disk..

  • hey buddy read the description nxt time...i do believe he says its a 11 or 12 shank chisel plow....and ive done enough chisel plowing to know what it looks like

  • Google "disk ripper"....It's more chisle plow than disk.

  • Man I'm a Ford Tractor fan but I don't care, this thing is awsome, I can see why He is wearing head phones. That constant noise level wouyld give you a head ache and put you to sleep. Love the sound of that power.

  • i love the way detroit motors scream

  • i love that growel from that sweet ass sounding detroit -she ain't screaming yet!!!!:0 full revs is the recipie of the day

  • That's the only thing I've ever seen that's louder than my Mother-in-law.

  • dude i love it

  • Saw a 1969 5020 about 6 weeks ago that has a Caterpillar 3208 in it.

  • Comment removed

  • cool have heard of a couple guys west of me putting in 3208 cats but not a screaming oil leak lol .....run them like you hate them..

  • really nice tractor lol my family and i have a farm and me and my dad restored a jd 2010

  • Thanks for the video. I am a city slicker who worked on my uncle's farm back in the late sixties. I did alot of time plowing with a 4020. One time they loaned us a Case 1030 Comfort King and I think that is the biggest tractor I got to drive, I disked with it for a few hours. If we come back as something else after this life, I want to be a successful farmer with a big happy family.

  • With the way they are built the 5010,5020 and the 6030s have passed the test of time

  • Damn. That tractor's no joke!

  • awesome!!!

  • Have you ever had to rebuild the rear end in it and also is there a certain gear you dont use due to the extra horsepower back to the gear shaft?

  • no theres so much iron in a 5020 tranny it can handle over 400 horse no problem

  • we had a 5020 with a 318 detroit , the tranny had to be rebuilt 3 times , it was too much power, so i was wonderin if there were any other mods to it.

  • what ist abused? just wondering since a 5020 tranny is a syncro range and its all over sized big gears is all.

  • no, just worked ground with it, didnt use fith gear either because it wouldnt stand up to the power.

  • dam!!! that is bad ass..u shoudl hear my neighboors 1955 jd a when it pulls..he used it on a tree once...man it was bad ass!!!

  • The 531 cid is much quieter then the Detroit Diesel

  • Nice tractor, I'd put a cummins V8 in it instead.

  • the fucking video is rated 5 star because that deere would pull the ass off any zetor shit you throw at it. That is one of the best tractors ever made, with one of the best diesels ever made.

  • kk, you have the choice, it is a good tractor or its a deer, but this can't come together! lol

  • so... what are you saying? that the deeres in this area with close to 8000 on them with no rebuild, the several with 20000+ with three rebuilds are junk? one has 17000 on it, and case ih fans beat the shit out of it every day.

  • @woodman1241 wtf is a zetor

  • @ACD19farmboy can't find it now... idk why but some guy was saying that a zetor could outpull that deere- zetor is a czech manufactured tractor- that explain somethin? haha..

  • @woodman1241 i have never herd of zetor or czech before!!! its all Deere, CaseIH, and Allis around here with some Whites

  • @ACD19farmboy that's exactly my point lol... they are kinda big in europe I guess? but ya Deere vs. zetor? lol....

  • @ACD19farmboy and czech is a country somewhere in Europe where they are made...

  • @woodman1241 agree with you ,zetor is the worst shit ever

  • @woodman1241

true true but zetor aint shity its also good i have one and never had a problem whit it

  • @TheTractormaster Zetor built a couple tractors that were re-baged as John Deeres. i forget the models involved but you can look it up. woodman1241 might have to eat his words. lol.

  • @TheTractormaster zetor lol that still make them things

  • @woodman1241 i wouldnt go that far about the diesel... the tractor had one bad failing point in the 60s. the crank shaft was prone to break in the 5020 and the 6020. i wont even start on the failing points of the detroit..theres just too many to list..lmao

  • cause its a 5020!!!!

  • that noise would get old real fast

  • yea i like the 531 grunt better than the detroit grunt

  • @kyler309 naw

  • Nice! that old girl looks and sounds better than when she was new. I really like to see the old iron still working.

  • They say you couldn't listen to that all day. I was sad when your vid stopped. If I lived closer I'd come and plough you paddock for nothing just to get more of it. Lovely and crisp on the governor. But then, with that sort of power, is there any wonder? At least you know you won't wreck the rear end even with an 8/71. Sweet as!

  • Super WOEST!

  • Come on, quit babying that thing. Open that thing up and make it talk!

  • you have no idea to the extent at which your video has made me jealous :) haha jk awesome 5020 those detroits sure do sing!

  • Does that have some sort of "glasspack" mufflers on it? I kinda looks like it does down close to the manifolds.

  • soundes and look beastly good vid

  • love it lee .... that fucker is loud as hell.. wish we coulda got a film of u burrying it at the ffa test plot!

  • Whew! The 5020 means business! Nice JD

    Take Care,

    John

  • This is a 5020 standard.Jim MacFaden of Sharon Springs,NY had a 5020 row crop like this one he wanted $25 large for in the past 6 years.

  • where is this video taken at

  • Was this tractor at the Iowa State Fair?

  • BADASS TRACTOR!! SHARP!!

  • Nice tractor,great sound,I like the chrome stacks. I have a 1972 4620 with a chrome strait pipe.

  • Kisk ass!!! Glad to see that it's not just a showroom toy!
