@allyson99 : I learned you may want to keep a spray bottle of water in your purse so from time to time you could go to the ladies and spray your hair to keep it moist...you could also put some of your favorite oils in the water for a double effect...I've been trying that myself because I have dry hair too, but I haven't been doing it long enough to say if it really works...

@newlynatural92 I'm glad you found it :) I got my shea butter from whole foods. I think it was called Now Solutions and it was only 7 oz. for about $12, but I will most likely get it from amazon or the African website next time.

I just know it has to do with the width of the curls and the pattern and 4c is the coarsest hair that you can have. There's an S shape or there are "perfect" ringlets and some hairs are weird Z shapes. I don't know how essential it is to know the exact grade of hair...but this is just my rookie opinion! :)
I just cut an inch off my hair today due to single strand knots. I've cut off about three inches off this year I think, because of them. I tryyyyyyyy to ignore them but I can't. Even now after my trim I am still feeling them....taunting me. But I will end up bald if I keep cutting. Is there some kind of 12-step program for this? Sigh...

@misstoughlove09 4a and 4b just means the tightness of your curls, it should be most visible when your hair is at its most natural (no product in it). It seems that most naturals have different curl patterns on different spots of their scalp.

@DearNaptural85 ! i love your videos and watched your DC video with egg,mayo, and honey. Right now im doing a deep conditioning treatment thats supposed to reduce shrinkage up to about 40%. If you wanna try it you would need one whole lemon and a cup of sour cream. I have no lemon :/ but im replacing the lemon with orange (something acidic to cleanse the scalp). I let it sit on clean hair for about a hr and then rinse. Ill probaly cowash cuz of smell n apply shea. it also loosens curls!

I have learned so much from you & your music selection is fabulous. Chemical free for 3 yrs. Went to the salon & the beautician cut 3 in" off b/c of split ends, I was so upset. My hair hair has grown since I stopped the blow dry/flat iron. I wasn't concerned about split ends, since I don't wear my hair straight, what are your thoughts about split ends? Do you find if you allow the certified hair "mud" to dry on your scalp it's hard to get off? Your sacrifice is helping so many. Blessings to you.

so you use the mud, acv rinse and the may conditioner (along with your leave-ins)? I thought all you would need was the mud cleanser and a leave in. Is conditioner still necessary?
Hey bqe718! Oh no, no, no, no! Sorry if I've confused you at all...it's not all used at the same time! I use my mud wash and No conditioner. Just follow with shea butter to seal in water (I guess you can call that my leave in?)...I use the acv rinse and the natural homemade mayo conditioner every once in a while if my hair needs it. Like if it is extra dry or needs a boost, etc.. So on a daily basis it's just mud wash n' shea butter <3 Does that help?
@DearNaptural85 my hair is kinda opposite of yours, i'm 4b everywhere but my crown is 4a...i just tried the mud wash and i can completely see why you only use water to moisturize your hair HOLY CRAP it's amazing...it's almost like if I use anything else my hair goes nuts..but water alone, it's perfection. I had to test with sealing and I settled on shea butter + olive oil because my hair is mad porous. Thanks for the rec for the mud wash. Check out lobi traore, (recently) late great mali singer.

I love Putumayo too. Right now my favorite is "India", and the top song on that cd is "Zara Zara" it's such a romantic song. If you haven't heard it, then I recommend you Youtube "Putumayo India" and it's the first song up. BTW what's a flex vid?

so you use the mud, acv rinse and the may conditioner (along with your leave-ins)? I thought all you would need was the mud cleanser and a leave in. Is conditioner still necessary?

Hey bqe718! Oh no, no, no, no! Sorry if I've confused you at all...it's not all used at the same time! I use my mud wash and No conditioner. Just follow with shea butter to seal in water (I guess you can call that my leave in?)...I use the acv rinse and the natural homemade mayo conditioner every once in a while if my hair needs it. Like if it is extra dry or needs a boost, etc.. So on a daily basis it's just mud wash n' shea butter <3 Does that help?

@DearNaptural85 my hair is kinda opposite of yours, i'm 4b everywhere but my crown is 4a...i just tried the mud wash and i can completely see why you only use water to moisturize your hair HOLY CRAP it's amazing...it's almost like if I use anything else my hair goes nuts..but water alone, it's perfection. I had to test with sealing and I settled on shea butter + olive oil because my hair is mad porous. Thanks for the rec for the mud wash. Check out lobi traore, (recently) late great mali singer.
