Filmclip at the 47 sec mark shows in background the NAB building situated in Heathcote, Vic. Still remember the day the guys filmed part of the clip there !!!
Ive just got tickets to see the band play at Souths Juniors in October for the first time ..looking forward to it ..hopefully "Her charity'' is still in the set ..i iived in Sydney for a short time in late 88 and remember seeing posters up for a gig they were doing at Revesby Workers and wanting to go but couldnt ..so its been a long time coming..lol
Absolutely LOVE Boom Crash Opera! They were my fav band when I was a kiddie in the late 80's, early 90's. Heard them on the radio the other night and now again can;t get enough. Absolutely brilliant music, I so miss the god old days of Aussie rock. Dale, you are amazing! xx
i would quote 'boom crash operah' whenever someone would ask for requests on music playlists. i was serious but everyone laughed like it was a funny name, or how random is that band! but i stand my ground. it was and still is great aussie rock that, to this day, has stood the test of time and does not sound one bit like a 25 year old recording!! still loving bco!!!
I loved this song and in one sense it makes me so happy to hear it. In another it reminds me that if I were not poor and unemployed at the time, I would have been in Newcastle workers club when the earthquake hit, trying to buy a ticket to their concert. Bittersweet memories.
Saw the Opera 1 month ago at waves in the Illawarra, let me just say that these guys still rock as good as ever, great night had by all, Rock on Opera!

my father loved these guys when i was a youngster. so, i grew up with them. hearing this song, now 10 years older, it has gotten so much better. i appreciate the musical talent of all these gentlemen, and it holds so many memories. thank you boom crash opera. you brightened my day.
Boom Crash opera and a few other bands are the background music to my mad crazy irresponsible youth, and it was a great ride. Love every song from Boom Crash - I never rip aussie bands, it is so hard to make a living competing against the pokies, so off to JB tomorrow to get the CD and go back to a time I remember so fondly where there was no mortgage payments or superannuation considerations.
should be on the radio more, whenever they play a song from this band its usually onion skin or great wall, which isnt a bad thing but i never hear this.
A great song by a fantastic Aussie band!! These guys were the 1st band I ever saw live (Bicentenial Concert The Rooty HIll) maybe back in 1988.. To this day I love the band!! Saw them a year ago at The Coolongater Hotel in Qld, They get better with age!! Please guys we want more!!
sadly I have to miss the BCO gigs this weekend in Adelaide :-( I did see Dale Ryder, Brian Mannix and Scott Carne at the Norwood earlier in the year. All still as incredibly awesome as they ever were!!
sadly I have to miss the BCO gigs this weekend in Adelaide :-( I did see Dale Ryder, Brian Mannix and Scott Carne at the Norwood earlier in the year. All still as incredibly awesome as they ever were!!
Going to see 1927, Dale Ryder, Paul Gray and Scott Carne on September 3rd at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney. Driving the 3 and half hours from the country, seeing the concert and then driving home. We love all these guys. Can't wait. BCO are still one of my favourtie bands.
Saw Dale last night live with the Absolutely 80's tour and he is great! He may be bauld now, but can still belt out a great tune. Met him also and got photo's/autographs. It was excellent to meet someone who has sung some of my favourite Aussie songs! This is one of them, my favourtie is Her Charity, unfortunatley this song is not on youtube. Also, check out the Fabulous Beast CD, it is a very under-rated great album.
I have been a muso for over thirty years now and BCO are the Pinnacle of Perfection and something that others can only aspire to. The songwriting is second to none. The Musicianship is impeccable. Dale Ryders voice is so distinctive and would send shivers up the spine of anyone who listens. The songs themselves still stand today. I have no idea why they never took over the World with a sound that's so unique and complete. My one regret is that I never got to see them live.
@drbob2004 LOL i remember going to the 21st in frankston whilst on holiday there.. walking up the stairs i could hear this song playing and i thought.. awesome cover who ever is doing it.. sounds exactly like Dale.. walked in and omg.. it was BCO! we had a blast and I ended up with the demo tape they were doing for the night.. decided they didnt need it ..figured i might like it... this song is still on my ipod for when im on the motor bike.. incredible. wish you saw them live too!
@drbob2004 You just said in a paragraph what I've been thinking for over 20 years. I've had the pleasure of seeing them live heaps of times & they have never disappointed. If / when they do a tour again, do yourself a favour. You won't regret it.
Living in Japan in the late nineties, every time it stormed I`d be dancing in the rain to this song, much to the surprise of my neighbours, and the joy of their children
Hands up if you have seen the aussie movie the big steal, this song was perfect for that part of the movie once they got the jag up and running, great song
@antonmur I think it's sad that The Big Steal is still one of my favourite movies esp this song lol That and Steve Bisley in stockings and high heels! Is it just me or was there an incredible amount of great songs made in 1988-1989? Or is it just me?
@17ETEP Mate one of my fav movies, best aussie movie anyway, relate too it in so many ways, Best part is for sure this song when there cruising through melbourne, awesome
As everyone else said, Its a classic song, so strong and powerful. has been my fav since early 90's and I would always listen to it before a big night out to get pumped up. It gets better with age.
On New years' Eve, I was working driving a tram and played this song off my ipod over the tram PA. The tram was packed with everyone going into the city, and it appeared everyone, no matter what age, all sang along and knew the words. They all loved it as much as i do!
