  • JFM was the first pirate station I found out about back in the day. I remember many stations were weekend only and when they got taken off air by the DTI you had to wait weeks before they returned.

lol I also, remember having to extend my Ariel with a piece of wire and a coat hanger and hold it out the window to try and get the best reception for recording. Those were the days, ay?

  • love this jazz funk and soul family by hubert laws classic ronnie laws incognito there is so many thanks for your posting junysawrus

  • Youve posted this piece giving the impression that JFM were the pioneers of Jazz Funk and Soul music in London from 1981.

    You are very very WRONG!

The FIRST station to play the music in London were Radio Invicta 92.4 who broadcast their first programme in 1970.

Their music and presenters were a different clas to JFM and the awful horizon and lwr.........

  • as for jfm it was a good station at times with GREAT djs like Jeff Young and Steve Walsh doing guest shows, but they also had their share of dickhead djs like graham gold and caesar the geezer!!!!

  • what is the name u used on jfm?

i remember jim colvin as i went to school with him

his real name is jim clare and he comes from orpington in kent

he was quite a good dj but a pratt of a person

    he looked like e.t !

  • This morning I have been listening to a compilation of soul classics from way back. Al Green, O'Jays, Tower of Power, Major Harris and on and on. At 51, I still get that wierd inner feeling listening to this kind of music; it just never goes away. And I know it never will.

  • Excelente Recopilaciòn de la epoca donde se hizo la mejor mùsica Jazz Funk

  • Hi again.. We exchanged comments a couple of weeks ago (listed below under bigdavemarley).. I just wanted to say that yourself and a few others on youtube have inspired me to start uploading and sharing some of my vinyl. Im using the name vinylmorpher if you want to come and listen to some good music.. All the best.. Dave

  • respect you the man.

  • Now you really take me back when you started chatting about JFM (JAZZ FUNK MUSIC) God, I can remember tuning in to JFM on a Saturday Night to Listen to the Electro Chart Countdown.. Must have been very early 80s. Its an Honour to find someone like yourself. I was also involved in pirate radio myself in the early 90s but I was playing drum n bass. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and keep up the good work.. Look forward to your reply.. Dave

  • Hi Dave - all those bands and artistes familiar with me too of course. Sharon Red, D-Train - got a couple to post up some time, Roy Ayers, Eddie Henderson - it just goes on. I consider myself lucky to have had a show, and such a good slot, on JFM. Special days - glad you heard the station and went on to do it yourself. One thing that got me was just how committed to the music everyone was. Great to hear from you, 'Keep in Touch'

  • I remember JFM also, but Radio Invicta was the station that really introduced me to many great tracks. Check out my Youtube channel dedicated to Radio Invicta 92.4FM
