  • Thankyou for posting. 08 will by my fourth con. . lookign back . . quite honestly. . con is a major part of my life. My wife thinks I'm crazy .. she would of course be right. Crazy and proud of it.

  • We had no problem getting in the front...

  • while that would probably ease points of congestion and such, that totally defeats the point of my con experience. i like being able to wander around and mix and mingle ya know? i mean.. thats what the parade is for.

  • The Hyatt sucked. I mostly hung around the Marriott.....mostly.

    :~)

  • I was lucky, I'd gotten back into the hotel not long before it was shut down. Were they closing off the entrance from the Food Court as well?

  • sucks it happened when the party was going on too.

  • I am a director at Dragon*Con, and we had absolutely no control over the crowd measures that the Hyatt took. We were at the mercy of the fire marshal and the Hyatt security staff. Personally I think they overreacted and the measures they took made the problem worse.

  • i agree. youd think with all the money that rolls in off dragon*con to these hotels plus the fact that it happens every year that the city and the hotel management would be better prepared and frankly, a lot more friendly.

  • I had a card key for the Hyatt and my group was let in pretty quickly each time we left the building, but it still floored me that the hotel had to go to that great of lengths to keep occupancy down inside the hotel. Dragoncon Staff seriously needs to address the crowd control issue for next year.

  • yeah my group and i also left the hyatt to get away from crowdeds, then we were told we clould not get back in so our group did go around to the front where a large group of people were trying to get in. thankfully we were staying at the hyatt and had a key card to get us back in after waiting only 20 mins. i feel bad the allthe otheres whoi stood there for hours!

  • I eventually got in by going to the front. No one staffing the front door cared.

  • I was working in the CON*SUITE at the time, my mom threatened issue an amber alert if they didn't let her in. needless to say, she got in.

  • There was a side door open the whole time.

  • i tried a couple side doors and they were checking to see if anyone had keys. which door did you find? i was quite sad about it haha.

  • thanks for posting I only heard about them closing the hyatt that night, glad I didn't try to head that way.
