Fantastic. My father was a great personal friend of this duo, having helped them in their early years in his postion of Sales Manager of Bluther pianos. He and I saw them at the golders Hippodrome probably in the early 40's and actually went back stage to see them. They looked exactly as your most excellet pictures
Thanks for sharing. I've never heard this interpretation before. I've heard more recent electronic/ambient interpretations of other composers, but this 40's style not before.
Is there anyone today who could capture an audience as much as this duo .did , .I think so They used to play on the Ocean Liners ..Their kind of entertainment is still timeless , under the heading of Variety ..........
Thankyou for posting this piano duo, Much to enjoy in this happy version of , bringing Liszt to a new audience at that time The photos are interesting too, Well Done 5******

I don't see it as Kitsch...........yes it's very much in the popular idiom of the day,
strong influences also from cartoon music style and also Winifred Atwell..................
I would say ''it's all done in the best possible taste !.......
This is important music.........it reflects
well one aspect of popular culture of the 40's-50's

I totally agree. My use of the term 'kitsch', though probably inappropriate, was meant affectionately!

I would place it in the same category as the Marx brothers or Victor Borge...high quality piano entertainment!
