  • what a great rendition, very powerful. can't believe some of the idiots commenting about his hat though lol

  • Well done! Well Done! The National Negro Athem! Well Done! You shaded this piece of music very well on the organ! Change the tempo which was excellent!

  • Wonderful... I play the Hammond organ but I surely love good organ music!

  • You gots skills...I hear how you add volume and then slow with soft sounds...have you ever played the hammond organ...personally, i want someone to connect the hammond organ to pipes...of course, it wouldn't sound like a hammond per se...but, just one of my thoughts.

  • Thank you -great job- love the registrations. I will play it this Sunday in Ab, instead of the G version in our hymnbook!

  • No you should ALWAYS remove your hat inside the church it's just a sign of respect for the building set aside for the ALMIGHTY.

  • @Operaman41

    I think Jesus understands...

  • @Operaman41 especially not wear it backwards, either!

  • i think that god could care less weather or not he is wearing a hat. listen to the music and stop worrying about what he has on the top of his head. with all due respect. "come as you are".

  • I agree with the hat but good job man, you did awesome. How old are you? I'm 16 and also played this on a Rodgers Trillium Organ. I attached the video, take a look. Keep up the good work.

  • WHO ARE YOU?!? Awesome Sir, awesome!!! Who ARe u?!?

  • WOW!!!!!! Who was that organist????

  • You believe well!!!

  • WOW! nice song and i agree god will probily not mind but all i got to say is amarica rule!

  • wow, this is wonderful

  • Very nice song. I never heard this song until I changed churches. I use to attend a polish church(Our Lady Of Czestochowa) which played modern day hymns, to St. John's Church which plays hymns from the 1800's - current. It is nice to hear some very old hymns, eventhough I can't sing along with the choir until I hear it a few times.

  • Ohh...and the organ (looks like a Rodgers to me) sounds REALLY nice!!!

  • I love this! My worship and music style is "traditional Roman Catholic"...I would definitely consider this a REAL hymn...nothing like "On Eagle's Wings" or anything like that *coughtripecough*...this is WONDERFUL! I'd love to play this!

  • You don't have to be African American to love this hymn. I hope you don't mind saying that we sang it at my church after the First Gulf War and a white member asked why he'd never heard it before.

I know this hymn belongs to the African American community, but great music has a way of becoming universal.

  • @blift evey voice and sing has become a staple in the hymnody of most mainline us denomination. a stirring tune with equally stirring text. the final verse can bring a congregation to its knees if played thoughtfully ( slightly slower) for african americans this is a treasure of our faith.

  • Great job..but don't you think you could have removed your hat, you were in a church after all...

  • You're right, I hope I haven't damned myself to an eternity of hellfire. Seriously though, it's just a hat, and it's not like I'm playing a service. I think God understands :-)

  • If they don't understand, they will get over it. Nice playing!

  • Kids these days don't. I was raised that way, too, but mores change, and no disrespect is meant.

  • I listen to this in the morning and in the evening before and after work. I wish I could count the times I watched this. A truely inspiring version of the great hymn.

  • It brings tears to my eyes excellent timing

  • I found this video as a search for God of Grace about a week ago. I listen to this over and over again, your playing of this wonderful Hymn is inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing. I look forward to more videos. But this one will always remain my favorite. Can we see your face so we can identify the oraganist with the playing. Thanks. You are the best on Youtube.

  • I wish I would have know this tune last night - I would have sung this to the top of my lungs when I offically found out Barack is our new president-elect!

  • he;s gotta nice butt

  • It's from all that good pedaling technique!

  • That was simply beautiful. I have always loved this song, since I was a child (i'm so glad they taught it to us and made us sing it in elementary school), and loved it even more once I had an understanding of faith and a deeper love for black culture. Mr. James Weldon Johnson himself would be proud, you played that song beautifully. Brought tears to my eyes, gave me goosebumps, and made me cherish such a wonderful song even more. Thank you for uploading.

  • Beautiful Hymn, played fabulously! Love your phrasing and registartion changes. You are a very talented young organist. Thanks for sharing your gift for all of us on Youtube! Please keep posting.**********

  • wow! CORRECT TEMPO--exellent-was tryin 2 find 4 my july 4 spec-thanks--

  • Very Nice! I have always really liked that hymn...you play it very well!

  • Agree you style is excellent. Do you have other recording?

  • Your style of playing is excellent, and you are really a very talented person. i am an 22 years old organist from france and i think u have really exceptional quality as amusician. do also show your face, so that we can see who this great person is?!!!

  • Well worth the time spent listening. You play hymns in a manner that makes one want to hear them again. What type of organ is it? Look like a Rodgers 959 Trillium.

  • Hah, I think that's the best compliment any musician could ever get :-). Yup, Rodgers Trillium, good eye!

  • wow i would never be able to pay any organ especially this one

  • It really isn't as difficult as some might lead you to believe, but it isn't the easiest thing in the world either, it takes a great deal of coordination of hands, bot together and with your feet, and once you can tie your arms and legs into a pretzel, you got it made. well, ok, once you get into that pretxel, you gotta play and get yourself out at almost the samne time.

  • Woww!! Dear Friend ! this is very beautifull... you playng veri well!! I sing this song (Rosamond Johnson) !!! Congratulations ... Greetig from Brazil

  • One word.....EXCELLENT!!!

  • Job well done

  • I love that you took the prayerful approach in which the final verse was meant to be played.

  • AWESOME. And how fitting to hear it as we approach the MLK Day celebration. Great job.

  • well played. i really like this # and think you have done it justice. now if only i could hear Mahalia Jackson sing this.

  • BRAVO - sounds great and your playing is excellent as usual. I have to find the music for this one. Thanks for sharing. Lance
