how fast does airbrush paint dry to the touch? i have just recieved a kit from husky powertools that came with a siphon-fed airbrush and an air compressor. i am planning on doing custom lure painting for friends and other fisherman with it. any other tips? and is stencil material overrated and can i use things like cut up milk jugs for stencil material like i have seen others use?
your far to modest my friend ,it looks spot on ,i did think about having a crack at making some of my own but havent got space for the compressor and the rest of the tools so i`ve decided to buy some instead , hopefully they`ll be good quailty when they arrive this week !i will be looking for a good few more to buy in the next few months so let me know if yout selling any , cheers
Hi, do you ever put any type of varnish on your lures to give them an extra glossy? I use varnish because it also makes the lure waterproof. Please respond.
I was just wondering, how do you cut your stencils out with such precision?
I try exacto knifes but when doing small holes and such, I find that the paper rips before it cuts, despite how sharp/new the blade is. Thank you and keep up the good work.
@oxycleansucks if you cant find sharp enough exacto knifes you could try a very small carpet knifes, i use only those things now a days they are much more nicer to work with and cheaper plus i find that i have better overall control when doing stencils with them. but of course a steady hand does not do any harm ;)
@NGUdOlLoFf its pretty average prize when talking about a handmade custom lures, at least over here in europe and i know there are few builders in the US too whose baits sell for 40$ and up. guys like tim novak and john snow come to mind.
@Pureskillzes99 every single lure you see on my channel is made by me from start to finnish, i mostly use hard wood like mapple when making pike baits..
@carvinmom i got mine from a online wedstore that sells lurebuilding stuff here in finland. its called Tulle netting and you probably can find it in most stores that sell fabrics and such.
@LIFalcons99 that depends on how much money your willing to put in your airbrush. the nice thing about iwata is that there entry level airbrushes are really good and would make an excellent first brush if your still new to this. and of course the highend line of brushes are pretty much best that money can buy.
@LIFalcons99 that solely depends on how much dedication are you willing to put in your lure painting :D but i would say since i have been using iwata airbrush for 6months now i can highly recomend there brand of airbrushes. for paints i would get solvent based paints, the kind your can get from auto tuning shops for instance. createx is ok but any solvent based paint will win over it any day in quality.
@miguelpah actually nope i haven't caught anything with that particular one cos pretty much right after this video i sold that one off to a new owner, the body type though has produced some nice pikes during last summer and fall.
@Mikkopa1 heh kyyti on kylmää kun tuo vieheiden teko vimma iskee, eiköhän sieltä sultakin tule hyvää settiä kun tietää suomalaisen viedeiden teon tason verrattuna muihin maihin;)
What kind of airbrush do you use? was it expensive? I want to get in to airbrushing but don't know what kind of brush I need to get. Only thing I know is that it has to be quiet cheap :')
@arisingartist heh i did mention that on the previous questions to me on this vid. i have a Iwata hp -ch it was pretty expensive but its justifiable since i do paint alot. the vids you see on my site is just a tip of the iceberg that i have done ;)
@SolarBaits sorry I didn't notice ;-) Have you ever owned a cheaper type of airbrush ? I see there's dual action brushes sold for like 60 euro's, what''s wrong with these? Can I do gills and scales with such brushes?
@arisingartist yep actually i do have a badger 150 i think it was around 90€ when i bought it.. its not a bad airbrush and gets the job done but it cant really do very detailed work.
@moretemer3 the type of clearcoat i use is called lv-1 witch basically is polyurethane and 1 component clearcoat thats spesifically made for lures called Cab uistinlakka its clear when you buy it so i do a litlle trick with it and mix that with titanium oxide and voila you have white primer or sealer witch ever you wanna call it ;)
@killalpvp well from my experience you can paint with pretty much any kind of paint but the thing is how the paints react with clearcoat.. the safest bet is to get solvent based paints but stuff like createx water based paints will work too. they tend not to have a good finnish though when compared to solvent based paints.
@thecustomart11 i have a iwata hp -ch.. its kinda expensive but it does pay it self back by the sheer quality of the airbrushing that you can do with it, definitely without a doubt the best airbrush i have owned so far.
How did you make the template @ 4:21 please?
