@jeepsrt1231 Oh, yeah, that is how the menu in surreal 64 looks. In my opinion it is the best Nintendo 64 emulator for the original Xbox console. I am pretty sure the music is from an old Nintendo 64 game I have played too, I can't pin down which one right now. I hope everyone knows I didn't make any of the applications in this video. I was just demonstrating how Goldeneye plays on the original Xbox.
@Canadian789119 I have the system, and the game. The advantages of software emulation of old consoles is you don't need to dig through a pile of cartridges and you don't need like 10-20 consoles connected to one tv.

I actually also find it kind of entertaining that you can play a nintendo 64 game on an xbox. lol
@delinquent000 Well, you just have to softmod the console (unless you want the added features of a hard mod). There should still be tutorials floating around about that. All you need is an action replay for the original Xbox, or be cheap like me and splice a usb male plug onto an Xbox controller to transfer files to and from a computer with the action replay software. Once it is soft modded with whatever dashboard you chose, you just need surreal64 and a goldeneye rom in your apps
@xb0xisbetter directory, usually on the .... E or F drive, depending on if you put a bigger hard drive in or not. You can use any old roms for pc based console emulators.
@delinquent000 what are other benefits of a hard mod? and if im correct, a hard mod is when chips are replaced/modded and whatnot? and soft modding it would be able to get me my emu's? because that's all I really want. 'til i get on and do it i would move onto a hard mod.
@delinquent000 You don't need a mod chip for it to technically be a hard mod, you can TSOP mod the console by soldering some wires to the bottom of the board to make the bios flashable. The major advantages are being able to use any ide/pata hard drive completely unlocked (you can put in a bigger hd with a soft mod, but it is a pain) and to be able to flash modified bios images to your console, like to change your splash screen or even turn it into a debug kit.
go and buy a nintendo wii or 64 if your want golden eye and to all my fellow xbox gamers golden eye is only for nintendo cause nintendo and rare made the fuckin game
@d01hazel Yeah, I never knew that they ported Command and Conquer to the N64 until I found out about the Rom, had to have it. Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 is still probably my favorite real time strategy game.
@tallyhoman911 There is a point at which you can change the game so much that it isn't even the same game anymore. They did a great job with the porting of Perfect Dark to the 360 though.
@ZeldaMajorasMaskEX Goldeneye was slated for release on the Xbox 360 but was canceled. It is a sad world when the company that made one of the best games of all time can't even do anything with it just because it featured James Bond.
@metalshadowmario4 I wouldn't go so far as to say that they suck. I'm not sure what they were thinking with Viva Pinata, but if people would actually sit down and try Perfect Dark Zero instead of signing off on the reviews they would realize it is actually a very entertaining game. It isn't as good as their older games, of course not, but it is a good game.
Realistically thinking, Microsoft never intended to use Rare as an asset, they just wanted to keep them away from Nintendo.
@miksulder you don't need to TSOP or chip your box to mod it, you can softmod it without even opening the case ... I do believe that this console was chipped with an X2 though.
As I said in an earlier post, most of my hard drive since then was erased. I'm not sure if I have surreal 64 on it anymore, I know for sure I didn't change anything in the settings though. I just fiddled around with how it was launched. Have you tried your Goldeneye rom on a computer? It could just be a bad rom.
I have done a little of everything with the original Xbox, Soft mods, TSOP mods, hard mods, trainers, emulators, media centers, a bit of my own Halo 2 skinning, linux. Just about anything you could think of. My Xbox has a 200gb hard drive in it. If you look at the rest of my videos, they are on at least 3 different consoles, including a debug kit. >:)
You know, I haven't really tested Perfect Dark very thoroughly. Since I made this video most of my hard drive has been erased, so I may have to find everything again, but I will be sure to see how Perfect Dark runs. Seeing as it is made by Rare and generally similar to Goldeneye anyway, I would assume it should have no problems.
0:44 Coll theme song and James Bond looks cool.

@delinquent000 There aren't any other major drawbacks to a soft mod as opposed to a hard mod that I can think of right now.

@xb0xisbetter No offence, but rare today sucks. They aren't even Rare anymore. It's almost as if Microsoft raped it.
Rare had seen better days with Nintendo, Hands Down.
