What memories this brings to mind...being cold, wet, tired, and sick of the smell of fish. But hey, it was a sweet sized chunk of money at the end of the season.
@Bonekelly those starfish must be tough sticking a gaff in them and then pulling them over the side, and then cutting there throats, takes a deckhand with special talent, keep up the good work,i want everything extint by 2011 ok
Not only are Atlantic Cod critically endangered because of overfishing, but longlinging is a horrible method of commercial fishing. The by-catch is horrendous = thousands of sea birds drown each year, and all the fish that isn't wanted (pelagic sharks, sea turtles to name a few) are just tossed back into the ocean, dead.
Northern Pacific cod is the fishery that I'm involved with, which is a highly monitored (the guy to my left in the video,in rain gear is a biologist counting fish and by-catch) to ensure the future of our cod fish which is still highly successful unlike the Atlantic cod thanks to the Norwegians and Canadian unregulated over fished fisheries.
Sorry, you are a tool! I saw the videogame videos on your site, is that how you make a living?
@Bonekelly Hey moron, did you even read my post? I said Atlantic Cod. Ugh. You even said so yourself it is grosely overfished. How am I supposed to know what speices you're hauling when the only reference to the fish is 'Cod'. A little vauge, don't you think. And those videos are from years ago. I don't even use this Youtube Channel anymore. It's purely for commenting.
@Bonekelly Oh, and even if he is counting the volume of by-catch, tell me. What steps have you taken to reduce the problem? Because all I'm hearing is talk.
@Bonekelly I am a fisherman also, I have fished all over the world.. the worst of which is the green and wonderful new zealand on a dragger.... killed everything great whites, to name one shark.... but shark finning in a terrible waste and un regulated... fishing in alaska is one of the most if not best regulated fishery in the world.. in fact in bristol bay if there was no fishermen there the salmon run would over populate the rivers and there would be no more run anymore...
@JungllJr have u ever longlined? ....when u work on a boat for a year and see why we have to fish this way to make the least bit of money than maybe youll understand why we have to overfish to make anything...and dragging is probably the worse...about 80 percent of fish are dead throwbacks...to small

North Atlantic and North Pacific are two different Oceans seperated by a continent, thus this would make the two type of cod different species
