I wonder why american studios keep on remaking good films from other countries' movies... they did it much in the past, but now it's increasing considerably... is there an ideas' crisis in american cinema?
The worst of it is that although there is more budget injected in these remakes they all end to be worse than the original. It is time to accept that making a good movie is no just a matter of having enough money.
What it makes it more confusing is that on the other hand, american series have improved a lot during the las few years...
I have lately watched (last few years) real abominations coming from Hollywood with garbage scripts, but we know that there are good script writers in america series.
There is a great difference between series' script writers and the ones who work for films.
"Scarry" like "funny" is prettu subjective. I am more frightened by things standing in the background and then going nuts than I am by a killer chasing a victim, I'm scared by both, but I think I tend toward the first one.
sorry i forgot to warn you that melgibsons acting in the first part of the movie is sub par i find it picks up later but that could just be beacuse other characters like the brother step up to the plate more
if you're up for international films can you guys review a french horror called inside
and another one called martyrs they're both supposed to be incredibly gory i'm talking people have run out to vomit type gory maybe you could review one each or something
REC is scary Ill give you that. But it is nothing more than a decent zombie flick. It scares you with interesting ways of jumping at you and screaming BOOOO!!!! but it has all the drawbacks of the genre. The premise makes no sense (who would carry a heavy ass TV camera when being chased!?), people zombify at random (sometimes in 10 second sometimes in few days), and the conclusion is just absurd. No mentioning the idiot characters.
@MishaV84 I disagree, most scare is not from jumping zombies, but carefully build-up tension. They admittedly got get-out-of-jail card with the explanation of zombifing happening after different times for various ages and blood groups. But it does not really bother the viewer because another details about the illness are unknown.
And I felt dedication of the crew to film everything and try to save the camera (Angela screaming at the policeman etc.). I place this alongside the paranormal activit
Quarantine... kind of lacked the impact... still a good horror. It PROVES that you can - as you say - have actual payoff. Not just endless teasing without anything.
Films are like women, in this respect. If you're teased for 90 minutes and there is nothing resembling an actual climax... you're vexed.
One of my best friends convinced me to see this on new years just before midnight, and it is also one of the (if not the) best horror movie I have seen. So try celebrating new years on the town after seeing that :D
how come when I go to the forums, it says Iv'e been permanently banned from this board, what does that mean, I didn't realize that I did anything wrong, it says the reason was "troll". I'm pretty sure that's a bad thing, but I havn't really done anything bad on there, so please try to get me back on there.
now this is my type of movie, sure hope it scares the shit out of me, I'm exited as hell right now, infact you know what I'm gonna go and rent it right now.
I would like to hear your opinion about paranormal activity as well.

Ironic how this review was posted exactly a year after the events took place in Quarantine, the remake of REC.

thats true and rec was superbly done i'll agree.
if you like things standing in the background you might like "signs" if you haven't already seen it
theres some bad seans but i still liked it alot
it isent horror it's suspence so there isn't many scary parts but overall it was entertaining
be warned there is some slight religous overtunes if you find that stuff offensive.

Eh, I don't get bent about that stuff. Sounds good I'll check it out.
