treyguy I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree. Jazz started in America. Thats where the roots are planted. I feel you on the style and the swag that Japan puts on jazz, but when you listen to legends like Freddie Hubbard, Bobbie Hutcherson and Art Blakey, you will hear there influence no matter what twist sleepwalker puts on it. Having said that, Sleepwalker is a BADASS band, as well as Jabberloop, Indigo Jam Unit and Quasimode, all of which are from Japan.
I'd dare to say that this tune was inspired by labels like muse records, a bit of catalyst recs round the early '70ies Don Pullen, Weldon Irvine? No doubt: jazz with pedegree, cheers 4 this 1!!!
such a great song, i had came across it on a rare grooves cd years ago...lost it...found their whole lp, such a good band...plus a lil help from some greats!

Naturally, it's Pharoah Sanders. He's been blowing cool music since before you were born.
Check out his other works as well.
